THE Z STORM (Z FUNG BO) will open on June 19th. Although the actors Louis Koo Tin Lok, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, DaDa Chan Jing and Michael Wong Man Tak did not fly to promote in Cannes, many film companies were interested in the film's Independent Commission Against Corruption subject. Although they were only able to enjoy the over 2 minute long trailer, the Southeast Asia region like Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand was drawn to the story. An U.S. company even immediately bought the film's rights in hopes of a release soon. At the same time an U.S. film company was in negotiation with Pegasus Motion Pictures for its remake rights.
Since the success of INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH), Hong Kong films have been mainly crime film driven. Almost none talked about the ICAC or corruption. THE Z STORM's subject was how the ICAC solved an international financial crime, no wonder it was able to stand out at the Cannes Film Festival. Responsible for film sales in Cannes were Raymond Wong Pak Ming's children Alvina Wong Yi Kwun and Edmond Wong Chi Wun. They both were very happy about the popularity of the film. Wong Yi Kwun even pointed out that the producer John Chong Ching deserved the credit. She said, "I heard from many colleagues, many retailers after learning that Mr. Chong was the film's producer immediately became more interested in the film. After they watched the trailer they were drawn to the story." Wong Chi Wun felt that the story subject was rather important. With the actors' spot on performance it was able to attract film companies from around the world.
