The 65 year old Gordon Liu (Lau Ka Fai) suffered a stroke 5 years ago and was paralyzed on the left side of his body. After his family troubles and former female assistant's financial lawsuit. He never gave up his therapy at the nursing home. In recent years both his movement and speech abilities have improved. Earlier he with his friend Fan Yik Man attended a charity Poon Choi event as a guest, his first public appearance in five years. Fans gathered for photos with him. Fan Yik Man said that Lau Ka Fai's health progress has been great. She was preparing for a movement test in hopes that he would be able to stand up on his own.

The charity event was for seniors and low income families. Fan Yik Man and Ma Tai Lo were guest performers. Lau Ka Fai participated as well and host the lucky drawing. She said that Lau Ka Fai was heavier than before and even had a belly. He looked rather alert.

Lau Ka Fai was very happy to have fans around him for a group photo. He even made cool poses. Fan Yik Man said, "During our group photo we made faces at him since he had no expression. He could not help but laugh!" During the lucky drawing, he drew himself a HK$ 200 lai see. He happily gave it back for everyone to draw again.

Fan Yik Man said that Lau Ka Fai walked rather well with the physical therapist. She would arrange for him to test whether he could increase his exercise regiment, the goal was to him to stand on his own or walk for awhile with a cane. For now he still needed someone to carry him onto and off the vehicle and wheel chair. She hoped that he could keep improving.
