The Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred film IP MAN 2 two nights ago opened in Hong Kong and made 3.72 million. After 3 days in release in the Mainland the film made over 35 million RMB. Its strong opening in comparison to recent Hong Kong film release was the closest to INFERNAL AFFAIRS 2 (MO GAN DOH 2)'s 3.91 million opening. Yesterday Yen Chi Tan attended a Madame Tussaud's Hong Kong wax figure unveiling. The figure was dressed like Chi Tan in IP MAN. Yesterday was a big day for Chi Tan, his wife Cecilia Wang, his in laws, his sister in law Wang Yuanyuan and his cousin all attend. Chi Tan also received many gifts from fans.

Before the unveiling, Chi Tan was not too nervous but looked forward to his wax figure. Did he feel it resembled him? "Pretty much, the eyes are the closest. When I made IP MAN I was thinner. Just now my wife said she was a little scared because the wax figure couldn't move." He was excited and happy about IP MAN 2's near 4 million opening and said that a celebration will be held next week. Speaking of the advanced screening proceeds that will be donated to Qinghai earthquake victims, he said that the donation amount will be announced at the celebration. Chi Tan also said that he was very satisfied with IP MAN 2's box office because it was his highest opening yet. The previous film made over 1 million. This time the box office was tripled. He said, "That's great." He expressed that dinner will definitely be his treat. He even hoped that the film would pass 40 million, then Mandarin Film will treat them to a holiday in Japan. If it would pass 50 million, Wong Hoi Fung would take them to Europe.

Chi Tan expressed that he has already reported the good news to director Wilson Yip Wai Shun who was in Shanghai. With the box office success, will he be tempted to make a third film? He honestly said that for now he would not. The box office and his intention were headed in different directions. If it has done so well, they should quit while they are ahead. The character interpretation is almost complete. When asked whether he was afraid that was he afraid that more would turn out rotten? he said, "After IP MAN was released, many rushed to make movies about him. WONG FEI HUNG turned out several dozen along the way, I just don't want to do it that way." By the end of IP MAN 2 young Bruce Lee appeared, was it a hint at a third film? He expressed probably not. Actually earlier he worked on some scenes in which he met with the young Bruce Lee, but in the end they were cut out. Was he confident about beating IRON MAN 2? Chi Tan said that was hard to speak. Because this film had word of mouth as many applauded at the advanced screening and stated that it would pass the first film, it had a foundation for good box office. However victory would be too hard to tell. He joked, "Like IP MAN 2's dialogue, if you ask me whether victory or eating with my family was more important, I of course would choose to go home and eat with my family."
