The Adam Cheng Siu Chau starred film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) two days ago was released, did the "Ting Hai effect" appear again? After the Ching Ming Festival holidays, Hong Kong stock market yesterday opened and the Heng Sang Index dropped 610 points to close at 21,726 points. According to analysis, it was purely coincidental. The market was concern that the Mainland bird flu pandemic would spread and the North Korean tension would continue to escalate.

Cheng Siu Chau's "Ting Hai effect" has been talked about for 21 years. Since he played Ting Hai in the 1992 TVB series THE GREED OF MAN (DAI SI DOI), whenever he had a series the stock market would decline supposedly due to the "Ting Hai effect". In recent years the "Ting Hai effect" has already gradually subsided, only coincidentally when the series was released it would run into market turbulence. However some still believed in Chau Guoon's power and joked that he should become a fund manager to predict the stock market trends.

Cheng Siu Chau in SAVING GENERAL YANG played the father of many hunks like Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Wu Chun, Raymond Lam Fung and Vic Chou Yu Man. The film opened two days ago in Hong Kong. Its single day and advanced box office made about HK$1.3 million. Earlier when Chau Guoon was asked about the "Ting Hai effect", he said that for years he had no idea what people were talking about. Although everyone brought out the numbers, he remained suspicious. He of course said, "If I believe it, I would have been rich!"

Photos of Cheng Yi Kin, Chou Yu Man, Yu Bo and others went around the internet. People online joked that the trio died just as brilliantly as the stock owners. Film boss Raymond Wong Pak Ming held an optimistic attitude. "The stock market has rises and falls, later it will rise back again!"

The "Ting Hai effect" did not stop the cast from promoting the film. Chou Yu Man, Wu Chun, Yu bo and others promoted nonstop in many places in the Mainland. Jai Jai even gave up attending a friend's wedding banquet to promote and could only congratulate his friend online. Playing the second son, Yu Bo promoted with Jai Jai and they were especially close. In Shenyang, a fan asked Jai Jai if the film box office would exceed 1 billion would he consider wearing swimwear. Yu Bo joked, "It doesn't have to pass 1 billion, after 500 million Jai Jai will distribute his swimwear post!" Wu Chun and Fu Xinbo promoted in Xian. Fu Xinbo remembered being topless with Wu Chun. Wu Chun's fully muscular chest made quite a contrast with his thin figure, thus he could only do push ups on the set. However they did not have much effect.

Female lead Ady An Yi Hin did not have to promote but went to see the movie with her family two nights ago in support. Later she posted online. "Tonight I brought my family to watch SAVING GENERAL YANG. As soon as the film started Mama whispered into my ear, 'Daughter you have a role', later the group of ladies often wiped their tears. I silently distributed tissues and saved some for myself. After watching the conclusions were 'great', 'Mother's heart ached after watching', 'the seven sons are too handsome', and 'This princess of yours would be fine if she didn't fall in love with the sixth son'. Mommy, they didn't want to, what are you blaming me for!" Director Wong Jing also praised the film. "I watched SAVING GENERAL YANG. Actually it already used the most pleasing way to tell the story, the film is also very beautifully shot. (Ronny) Yu Yun Tai again improves. However this type of costume films that with a known ending and zero suspense is at too much of a disadvantage in this climate. However it is worth respecting, I hope it will be a hit."
