[2010.06.20] JIANG WENLI WINS BEST PICTURE AT ASIA NEW TALENT AWARD

The 13th Annual Shanghai Film Festival Asia New Talent Awards ceremony took place two nights ago in Shanghai. First time director Jiang Wenli with LAN won the Best Picture prize and received 150,000 RMB cash prize and US$20,000 post production fund.

Jiang Wenli could not hide her excitement as she said, "Just now the Filipino director said tomorrow will be his birthday. Coincidentally, my birthday will be the day after." As for jury member Charlie Yeung Choi Nei, Jiang Wenli stated, "I wish Yeung Choi Nei who is also preparing her first film will soon release it. I very much look forward to it." Shanghai Film Festival established Asia New Talent Awards to encourage new directors, the nominated film must be the director's first full length feature. Aside from Jiang Wenli, the Best Director Award went to Korean film GOODBYE MOM, the Jury Prix went to Korean film THE EXECUTIONER and the Filipino Film THE PAWNSHOP won the Students' Choice award.
