[2010.03.04] CHRISSIE CHAU SUDDENLY CHICKENS OUT

Chrissie Chau Sau Na always dressed and behaved daringly. When she worked on Dennis Law Sau Yiu's new thriller WOMB GHOSTS (NGOK TOI) she suddenly became less brave. Because this film involved sensitive subjects like abortion, infant ghost raising and evil sorcery, Chrissie who played a nurse who had an affair with a married doctor (Lai Lok Yi). Later due to the accidental pregnancy their relationship ended, Chrissie began a bloody abortion scene. Later she also had a scene in which a ghost entered her body. The most horrifying was that she was not carrying a normal child but a womb ghost. Finally she and the womb ghost become connected and she became mentally unstable. It was quite an acting challenge.

Because the film touched on old evil sorcery like infant ghost raising, the crew shot in a Tai Po mansion to create an eerie atmosphere. The location was considered a valuable historical landmark, in the film it was the home of Chrisse and Moshan Master Old Pa. It was the location of many ghost haunting scenes. She needed to frequent this remote mansion at night. Although each time she would arrive with fear and anxiety, she honestly admitted that the eerie atmosphere was very well created and was able to help her get into character.

[2010.03.03] ALAN TAM'S FIRST VOICE WORK HAS TOO MANY RESTRICTIONS

Alan Tam Wing Lun, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei and Juno Mak Chun Lung provided their voices to the 3D animation film HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON and yesterday attended a press conference. This was Alan's first film voice work and he stated that he was one of the highest paid voice actors. Originally he thought he could express himself freely but actually voice work had a lot of restrictions that almost made him walk out. Luckily he was able to complete the job smoothly in the end.

Juno played Hiccup. He expressed that at the time he was working on the category III film FAU SHOOK JEH (DISSECTOR), during the shoot he suddenly could not deliver his lines and had hiccups for seven hours. Finally he went to the hospital for an examination, but the doctor said that hiccups could not be treated and transferred him to the psychiatric department. Actually he was so stressed from work that he had intestinal cramps. Later he had to take medication to reduce stress and to stop the hiccups. Mak Chun Lung said that during the Lunar New Year he went on a holiday in order to relax. Gillian Chung Yun Tung's FANTASTIC WATER BABES (CHOOK SHUI FU YUNG) was finally approved for Mainland release. Mak Chun Lung congratulated her and hoped that she would continue to work hard, ignore other news and focus on her work.

Chrissie Chau Sau Na yesterday attended an eyewear store promotion. Earlier she, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Pierre Ngo Ka Nin worked on the film PERFECT WEDDING (BAI HUEN DOR CHING). Ngo Ka Nin lost a high ticket items including his phone on the set. Yeung Chin Wa allegedly hinted that Chrissie was a suspect. Chrissie expressed that the set atmosphere has been great lately. Everyone was talking and laughing without any mention of the theft. Did she explain to Chin Wa and Ngo Ka Nin? Chrissie said, "I hope the remains are recovered soon, I actually am not too clear on what happened. However I am getting along decently with Chin Wa and Ka Nin." She said that the matter would not affect her film production mood.

The Tang Wei and Jacky Cheung Hok Yau starred CROSSING HENNESSY (YUET MOON HIN NEI SI) will open in April and is the 34th Annual Hong Kong International Film Festival opening film. This is Tang Wei and Cheung Hok Yau's first collaboration, in the film they achieve unexpected sparks as they admire each other's professionalism. Hok Yau for this movie ate so many buns that he almost vomited and sat in a coffee shop for ten hours; Tang Wei feels that this film was able to deepen her knowledge of Hong Kong culture.

Hok Yau feels that the first collaboration with Tang Wei is fresh and praises her as a very hard working actress. Hok Yau also points out that for this movie he has suffered as well. Because in the film Tang Wei and Hok Yau met mostly at a Hong Kong style coffee shop, they sat in it for over 10 hours for one scene. He jokes, "The time that I spent sitting at the coffee shop in this scene should be the sum of the time I have spent there in recent years." Because he sat too long and the coffee shop chair was wooden, when he got home he had a minor back ache.

However actually the worst part for him was that he had to eat continuously. Because whether he was having dim sum or at a coffee shop, his character had to keep eating. One night he had over ten buns in a row. He was so full that he almost vomited. Yet he said, "Actually Tang Wei already helped me alot. Luckily she was professional enough that multiple takes were reduced. Otherwise I definitely would have vomited."

For Tang Wei who rarely sat in a coffee shop, the feeling was very new. She even said, "I believe no one would be able to sit in a coffee shop longer than us, even my butt was numb. This movie introduced me to such coffee shop culture as 'beverage only double bill' and 'sitting only triple bill'!" Tang Wei even expressed that after she took this role she fell in love with buttered pineapple bun. Cheung Hok Yau also praised Tang Wei's professional and language abilities. Her Cantonese pronunciation was very accurate, which he admired; Tang Wei said that she has always loved Hok Yau's songs so being able to work with him this time was truly a honor.

Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Stephy Tang Lai Yun, Gigi Leung Wing Kei two nights ago promoted their new film JUST ANOTHER PANDORA'S BOX (YUET GUONG BO HUP). The actors due to the Lantern Festival played holiday games with fans. Aside from feeding fans glutinous balls, they also gave away laisee.

New comer Araif Lee Chi Ting was nominated for Best New Performer with the film ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) at this year's Hong Kong Film Award. Yesterday on a Commercial Radio interview he expressed that when he attended the Berlin Film Festival he did not know that the film could win an award. Was he confident about his nomination? He expressed that he did not know because it was his first movie and he had no concept of winning an award. He said, 'Actually before making this film because I was working on my new record I often thought about quitting to focus on the music, but Chan Sin Chi told me that the opportunity was not frequent."

Did boss Leon Lai Ming give him any opinion? He expressed that so far he has not seen him. Did Lai Ming congratulate him? He said, "I haven't communicated with him yet, I don't know whether he would come and watch." He said that the boss was a low key person, even if he goes he might do so quietly. After its overseas success, ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) two nights ago held a charity screening. Director Alex Law Kai Yui, Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting brought two new actors Evelyn Choi Wing Yan and Chung Siu To with them.

Evelyn was very happy to take part in the film. After watching it she was rather moved. She said, "Halfway through I couldn't hold back my tears anymore, and they didn't stop until the movie ended." She said that she still had a lot of room for improvement and still needed more honing. He expressed that after her family saw her performance, they made fun of her face as chubby as a loaf of bread. She explained that she had to coordinate with the 60's woman look. She felt that she was still new and needed to hone her acting. She was not disappointed that she was not nominated for a Hong Kong Film Award for New Performer since her role was not large. She supported Lee Chi Ting and Chung Siu To for their outstanding performance so their nominations were well deserved.
