Just turned 66, Best Actor Simon Yam Tat Wa earlier suffered frostbite on his hands while working on a movie in the Mainland. So far they have not healed. Lately he even toughed out a fight scene at work, living up to his tough guy name.
Despite the pandemic Yam Tat Wa still had countless film offers. Recently he turned into "Yam Three Units", working on films ONCE UPON A TIME IN HONG KONG (GUM SAU JI), BIN YUEN HUNG JEH (EDGE WALKER) and A MURDER ERASED (BEI SIU SUK DIK HUNG ONG). Earlier he was found at the Heaven Queen temple in Tai Hang, working with Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Patrick Tam Yiu Man and Jerry Lamb Hiu Fung on BIN. While on break everyone sat outside the temple and chatted. Ah Tam even treated everyone to throat lozenge and made everyone very happy.
Yam Tat Wa greeted fans, who were waiting outside. He unknowingly opened his hands, which were full of scars. The back of his hands were peeling and wrinkled. He explained. "Earlier while working on another movie in Shandong and Taian, the temperature difference on the mountain was too great. When I came back and realized my hands were frostbitten. I saw a doctor and the condition has already improved. I hope it would recover soon. Thank you everyone for your concern." He admitted that now he makes movies for fun. Even if it would be even harder, as long as the script is attractive enough he would still gladly perform and never retire.
As for Ah Tam he revealed that he had more scene with Siu Chai and Yam Tat Wa. "This time the stunt scenes are numerous and difficult. Two days after work began everyone was already very tired, and someone was hurt. However the team has been very attentive, arranging for a physical therapist to be on the set. If we feel the need, we would get in line for treatment. Everyone joked that it was like taking a number to see the doctor."
Reportedly, in one major action scene, over 60 extras fought outside an ancestral shrine. For an even more ideal result, this time no expense was spared on the return of "multiple camera shoot". The production has been rather serious.
