In the not-too-distant future, pollution and global warming have left Earth barren, a giant meteorite crashed down and an odd looking vine started to grow from it. While this vine, people called it Pandora, sucked up the smog and began to purify Earth, it also grew at high speed destroying anything in sight. When the genetic map of Pandora was revealed, genetic modification became the last hope for mankind.

It is often said that food and meals bring families together, but in TABLE FOR SIX it's clear that not all family gatherings are a cause for celebration. In this melodramatic comedy, three brothers reside in a home that they inherited from their late parents. The eldest brother Steve, theoretically is the man of the house, but he constantly is getting dissed by his two younger brothers Bernard and Lung for the decisions he makes, the inedible meals that he cooks, and his complicated romantic encounters. To prepare for a family reunion dinner, Steve seeks the help of Lung’s girlfriend and foodie Josephine and in doing so, wins back their hearts for a while, until his old flame and Bernard’s new girlfriend Monica shows up. That's a recipe for a disaster waiting to explode! The unexpected visit of Steve's part-time girlfriend Meow not only fails to turn down the heat and cool the awkward situation, but stirs up the sibling conflict even further.

The chaos began at the Winter Solstice dinner eight years ago. The father lost his temper, the son, not able to forgive his father, ran away from home. Eight years have passed, and the family's relationship is still cold and distant. A cousin returns to Hong Kong from England and hopes to gather everyone for a Winter Solstice dinner. The long-awaited gathering prompted everyone to rethink their relationships with family members. Some choose to leave, some are back. When things are about to fall apart, it might as well be an opportunity to mend connections.

On the evening of the family's traditional winter solstice dinner, Chun and Ling, their daughter Ki and son Yeung, and Ling's brother Ming gather at Ling's mother's house. Tired of Chun’s incompetence, losing his job when they're looking to repair and move into the house they bought with everything they had, Ling demands a divorce. While attempting to mediate between the two, Yeung gets greatly disappointed and angry with Chun. And Ming, whose business failed, has a fight with his aging mother. That becomes the last family dinner. Eight years later, Ming's daughter Joy returns to Hong Kong, and the family plans for their traditional dinner on the winter solstice again. Can the years of pain and remorse bring the family together again? On this evening of Joy’s first winter solstice dinner, the film shows through the night scenery that a family can be whole even if it is not perfect. (CHOI Eun)

Edan Lui, member of Hong Kong pop sensation Mirror, takes on his most challenging role yet in this powerful and unsentimental family drama. Based on the story of director Tsang Hing Weng Eric's own family, Tsang's directorial debut follows a family in a Hakka-walled village eight years after a combative winter solstice dinner tore the family apart. When a cousin returns home and seeks to reunite the family for another dinner, they must rethink their connection. In addition to his fellow Mirror member Anson Lo, Lui is also supported by a cast of both masterful veteran actors and talented up-and-coming stars.

Adapted from a sensational real-life case in 2013, the intricate story begins when a young man partners with his friend to murder and dismember his parents. Pleading not guilty, the defense attorneys soon turn on each other, as the defendants play the devil and idiot game. Meanwhile, heated debates emerge inside the jury room, where nine jurors grapple with the truth. Crafting a complex, multi-layered narrative with surprising twists and turns, Ho Cheuk-tin sets himself a formidable challenge in this directorial debut.

Adapted from a sensational 2013 family murder, Henry Cheung partnered up with his friend Angus Tong to murder and dismember his parents. In the courtroom, two veteran lawyers Wilson Ng and Carrie Yau were defending the pair pleading not guilty. The prosecutor Allen Chu suggests the murder was a calculated move for money. But the plot thickened when Ng and Yau began to present their case, and when Tong rebutted all accusations on his own. The truth becomes all the more elusive as the defendants played the role of 'genius' and 'idiot' in court. In the breakroom, discussions between the nine jury members spiraled into debates of right and wrong.

Edan Lui and Leo Ku perform FLOATING CLASSROOM

Two nights ago the KKBOX HONG KONG MUSIC AWARDS took place at the AsiaWorld-Expo. Aside from Hins Cheung King Hin, the band Dear Jane, and the injured Keung To were absent, the other 8 "artists of the year" gathered on the stage. Among the "artists of the year", as from MIRROR breaking into the top ten as a group, members Anson Lo, Edan Lui Cheuk On, Ian Chan, Keung to and Jer Lau Ying Ting also were on the list as solo artists. The entire evening became a MIRROR show. The event even arranged for the first time award winner Anson Lo to open the show. He performed two songs in a row and then other members took turns to perform solo and perform with other singers, driving the over 9,000 fans on hand wild!

Edan won the "artist of the year" and the "new artist of the year". Winning two individual wards, he performed two songs. Then after 3 years away from large scale performance Leo Ku Kui Ke made a surprise appearance for their duet FLOATING CLASSROOM. After the performance they embraced each other. Edan said, "Completely because of a promise from Goo Sir's son, Goo Sir was successfully brought back to the stage." Another focus figure was Ian, who made his first public appearance after just revealing to have ended his 2 year relationship with his model girlfriend Amy Lo Wai Man. Although the heart break hurt, his performance was praised as exceptional. He had no fear of opening up the wound, performing DWBF with the hidden "code of love".

MIRROR also performed the finale. The 11 members first sang and danced two group songs, then for MIRROR fans performed the release after the "hiatus" WE ALL ARE. Perhaps due to the trauma or the pressure from the criticism, Anson Lo was about to open his mouth but broke into tears first. He completely lost his composure, Jer immediately sang for him and consoled him with a hug. Many members were also affected. Keung To watched the live broadcast and cheered for his group mates. He posted, "All along it's really been tough on everyone, I really wanted to be with you. Proud of you guys. As a member of MIRROR I am always very proud."

About Anson Lo soaking the stage with tears, some online ridiculed, "Selling tragic again", "Crying again and again", "He successfully stole the spotlight again". Still teary eyed during his interview, he said, "It was the first time I publicly performed this song, I was reminded of a lot. In addition this song was dedicated to the fans and listeners who supported us. The past several months have been tough on everything, so I couldn't hold back at the moment. I am very sorry." Captain Lokman also spoke up. "Performing this song was a little touching, ultimately we haven't been on such a large stage in awhile. So we got a little emotional." Jer also said that he was moved and had his mind on Keung To. "I wish a speedy recovery for him, so all 12 of us would be able to perform in our entirety." MIRROR's concert dancers recently issued an open letter, Lokman "slammed the gate shut" on the subject and said that the matter has entered legal proceedings so they were not at liberty to comment.

Just announced his breakup, Ian said that he and Amy would support each other as friends. However because the relationship was between the two of them, he would not say much. The only thing he wanted to say was, "Amy is a great girl, I hope everyone would give more space. Don't give her so much pressure. (Regret?) Everyone experienced so much, it's after discussion we amicably come to this decision." He also said that he did not need his group mate to share his sorrow.

Edan and Leo Ku Kui Ke united backstage and presented hearts. Gei Jai revealed that originally he would not return to the stage until next year, thus the company at first turned down the performance. However MIRROR's manager Sister Fa contacted him again, and his son praised Edan Gor Gor's "Singing Good", so he changed his mind. Edan said that on the stage he was so nervous that his hands were shaking. Gei Jai also revealed that he sang the wrong lyrics. He looked forward to next performance with Edan playing the piano as well.

"Creative singer" Terence Lam Ka Him two nights ago at the award show "unlocked achievement", turning from rarely speaking to a chatterbox -- much to fans' surprise! Aside from the "Top Ten Artists of the Year", he also host with the award ambassador Serrini. Speaking of making this opportunity happen, he said that it was completely due to a wish 2 years ago. "Originally I was full of anticipation, thinking the partner with the big eyed 'Ka Yan". I didn't know......it's just like an internet scam!" It was a jab at the originally name "Leung Ka Yan" Serrini was not as advertised. The entire audience cracked up at the moment.

The band Dear Jane was also one of the "Top Ten Artists of the Year", unfortunately due to a member's positive test they were absent. In the last minute they asked their junior colleague Panther Chan Lui to perform on their behalf. She also thanked Dear Jane for the invitation, otherwise she would not have the opportunity to step foot on the stage. Lam Ka Him heard and suddenly said, "You can be like me two years ago and just beg for the job!"

courtesy of mingpao.com

The film THE SPARRING PARTNER (JING YI WUI KONG) in its fifth week of release accumulated over HK$ 30 million at the box office, replacing VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET) as the third highest grossing category III Hong Kong film. The film company announced tht it would hold a second celebration. Some online looked forward to director Ho Cheuk Tin "taking off his shirt" to thank the audience. Ho Cheuk Tin again thanked all the viewers for their support. "The film has been in release for a month, experienced a lot of panic, worry and obstacles. Luckily it had the love of the audience, and I also thanked the cast and the crew for all their cooperation." Producer Philip Yung Tsz Kwong firmly said, "Hong Kong film isn't just a mirage."

The actors received the good news and felt just as excited. Louisa So Yuk Wa said, "This is the best present in life, thank you to the team, thank you to the audience, thank you to the universe." Jan Lamb Hoi Fung humorously said, "The audience bravely solved the HK$ 30 million mystery, reality was even terrifying than the film." Yeung Wai Lun said that the box office was a pleasant surprise. "Thank you viewers for supporting Hong Kong film, which make our team feel like our hard work has been rewarded." Mak Pui Tung thanked the audience for their support and creating the miracle together. "I hope the box office would be better and better, to be able to attract even more investors to invest in Hong Kong films, for everywhere in the world to see good movies that Hong Kong would produce."

Bosco Wong Chung Chak, Jacky Cai Jie, Rosita Kwok Pak Yin, Cecilia So Lai Shan and others yesterday attended the new film KUI MOR LUNG JOOK MA SIU LING's production start worship ceremony. This time the story would be based on the ATV classic series MY DATE WITH A VAMPIRE, with its "soul figure" Robert Chan Sap Sam responsible for the adaptation and direction. "Fong Tin Yau" Bosco and "Wong Chun Chun" Cai Jai both said that their characters would have obvious differences from the original.

How would they surpass a classic? Bosco said, "We leave that to Brother 13, he is singlehandedly taking care of everything. He knows what he wants the best. (Have you watched the series again before the production start?) I watched a dozen or so series." As for the numerous action scenes, he said, "So many they are ridiculous, during the shoot we have to spend a lot of time to figure out the computer graphics, and this time is the first time I wear contact lenses. The team prepared one large and one small pair of lenses for me. Just the small pair already felt very scratchy and dry. My vision is hindered a lot when I wear them. As for my vampire look, if anyone sees it in the middle of the night they would be scared out of their minds."

Speaking of working with Cai Jie for the 6th time, Bosco joked that they were rather close personally. However for now they still have not officially shot a romantic scene. "How would I dare to? She is a intellectual youth goddess! Even though this time originally Wong Chun Chun was designed to like Fong Tin Yau, in the film version our relationship is very minor." Cai Jai said that some fans wanted to her and Bosco as an on screen couple.

Kwok Pak Yin said that she was very happy to make a movie. "I am happy and nervous, because before I was the one inside the theater. I never thought that I would see myself appear on the big screen. This time my character would be pretty special, being bit by a vampire in her 20s. Thus she always maintained her youthful exterior, but actually she is already in her 60's. (Would you need to fight?) I have to speak, haha! Actually I want to work on fight scenes too. I hear Cai Jie would have wire work. I haven't tried it before, I want to give it a try."

Chan Sap Sam again adapted MY DATE WITH A VAMPIRE to the big screen, but the cast would be completely different and disappointed many "vampire fans". Some online even compared the legs of the two generations of Ma Siu Ling, brutally criticizing "the new is not match for the old". He said, "If we are still limited to the past, creating a legend would be very hard. Actors aren't vampires. They would change with time. If it would continue, new comers would have to take the baton. I feel this time the cast is already pretty good." Would his wife Joey Man Yi Man appear? He said, "I can only say there would be surprises, and not just one at that."

Fung So Bo reveals that her sister was heartbroken over her husband's passing
courtesy of singtao.com

Veteran actor Yu Chi Ming passed away on the 10th at age 80. Yesterday services began at the Hong Kong Funeral Parlor and the funeral would take place today. Artists Louis Koo Tin Lok, Liza Wang Ming Chuen and Law Kar Ying, Law Yim Hing, Connie Chan Bo Chu, Nancy Sit Ka Yin, Gallen Lo Ka Leung and his wife, Lo Ting Fai and others sent floral arrangements. John Chiang Dai Wai and his wife, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Tsui Wing, Chiu Hei Lok and others appeared in person to bid farewell. Because the family was Christian, family and friends presented flowers instead of incense.

Oldest son Tin Yau said that Papa passed away in his sleep without any pain. In life he always wanted to recover and make another series, but his health got worse and worse. The final photo was taken last year. Mama thought it was "a little more handsome".

Yu Chi Ming's widow Fung So Wan was Fung So Bo's sister. As their matchmaker Sister Bo remembered the most when Chi Ming's early career development was not as ideal, a fortune teller pointed out that it would improve later but his parents would not be able to enjoy it. At the time Sister Bo comforted him and they walked from Prince Edward Road to Tsim Sha Tsui. They even had ice cream together. Later Chi Ming was signed with Opera Hong Kong and was very happy. Sister Bo pointed out that Brother Ming liked to have his fortune told, have tea and sing. He had children, children in law and grandchildren, not much regret. She heard from her sister Fung So Wan said that Chi Ming at the hospital just closed his eyes and passed away. He looked very peaceful.

Dayo Wong Tze Wah, Louise Wong Dan Nei, Dee Ho Kai Wa and others yesterday attended the Lunar New Year film A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIN DAI JONG) promotion. Dee was late, which delayed the beginning of the event for 20 minutes. As soon as he appeared Tze Wa joked, "Indeed people who cost more are different!" Dee said out of fright, "Don't say that." The new film would open on Lunar New Year's Eve. Tze Wa was excited, but dared not to think its box office would be able to surpassed TABLE FOR SIX (FAN HEI GUNG SUM). He only hoped that the closer the better. He also said that he really admired his first time co-star Wong Dan Nei. Wong Dan Nei revealed that before hand she watched prison movies for research. She also learned sign language to communicate because her on screen daughter was hearing and speech impaired.

Dee explained that he was late because nothing went his way. He stressed that he has always been on time when making a movie. Speaking of Anson Lo and Edan Lui Cheuk On's new film HONG KONG FAMILY (GOR SI GOR JIK)'s trailer happened on TVB Entertainment News station, Dee also hoped that GUILTY would be able to promote on TVB. He said that currently media are numerous, everyone would mix together for fun and for the good of the market.

Photos from Patsy Ka Ling's youth were on display at her funeral
courtesy of singtao.com

Cantonese film star Patsy Ka Ling earlier passed away in her sleep. Yesterday her funeral took place. Son Wong Pak Man a and god daughter Sharon Kwok Sau Wan went to Thailand to attend. Outside the temple where the funeral was held floral arrangements from family and friends including Deborah Li, Chan Suk Fun, Simon Yam Tat Wa were on display. Ka Ling's old flame Patrick Tse Yin's floral arrangement was placed next to her coffin. Husband Yiu Mo Lin yesterday also appeared to bid farewell to her beloved.

God daughter Kwok Sau Wan two days ago revealed Ka Ling originally wanted her funeral to be low key, but many friends sent floral arrangements out of respect. When she recalled God Mother's life before her passing she could not help but succumbed to tears. She got choked up and expressed that everyone would remember her; "I know these several years have been very tough on God Mother. For her, perhaps departing was a comfort. Actually God Sister earlier also passed away, in less than a year God Mother also passed. I don't know whether she went earlier to prepare everything for God Mother."

After the pall bearing ceremony, Lam Ka Tung and Chin Kar Lok sadly said, "Another war buddy is gone!" Kar Lok praised his late friend for being very loyal. Phoebus would have many scenes with "Fong Tin Yau" Bosco Wong Chung Chak. He said, "I never thought that my dream of a first movie would come true so fast. Jeffrey Ngai plans an overseas trip with his girlfriend after finishing the jobs on hand
courtesy of on.cc

courtesy of mingpao.com

Jeffrey Ngai yesterday attended a mobile phone event. He said that his Emperor Motion Picture CHIU SUN GAING HAI GIP ONG (SUPER CRAZY ARMRED ROBBERY CASE) wrapped up production long ago. Recently he suddenly received a reshoot notice. He was very happy to see his friends on the team again. "I didn't know that the scene required me to take off my clothes. I immediately became unhappy. Because after the wrap I ate for a dozen or so ays, I had a lot of carbohydrates. I would have to suck in my belly then." He also asked for the team to give him two weeks to get into shape. "During this period I really haven't had anything good to eat. I plan to finish before Christmas, then I would be able to feast." He also planned a trip outside Hong Kong with his girlfriend to "recharge".

Speaking of the Korean group BLACK PINK's Hong Kong show earlier went on sale, he admitted that he tried to get tickets online but failed. He joked that he has never successfully gotten tickets and asked everyone not buy from scalpers. Hins Cheung King Hin also would perform a year crossing concert series, but he knew that Hins got into an argument with his parents over tickets. Thus he did not want to bother Hin Jai. "Last time when Kaho Hung performed, he got tickets for all of us on the team. Since he set the example, Lord Hin knows what to do!"

The Film MONG YUET (GAZE AT THE MOON) earlier started production, which Emperor group chief Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Sing personally host. Director and producer Law Yiu Fai led leads Loletta Lee Lai Chun, Gladys Li Ching Kwan, Peter Chan Charm Man, Li Sum Ling, Kyle Wong Kai Ho, Mathew Hung Cheuk Fai and Mung Kit faithfully prayed for a smooth production.

Lee Lai Chun's children in the film would be Chan Charm Man and Li Ching Kwan. For the character Chun Mui was very professional, gaining 16 or 17 pounds so she would look more like a middle aged Mama. Chun Mui also did not put on air at work, while Gladys would call Chun Mui "Ma Ji". Chun Mui joked, "Sometimes I would feel Li Ching Kwan was my daughter, I would be able to get a little more into the character. She gets it right away, with a daughter like this I would feel very 'sweet'!" Playing mother and daughter with Chun Mui for the first time, Gladys felt very honored. "to be able to play Sister Chun's daughter, I am really too fortunate! I remember in one scene I had to flip to 'Ma Ji's' old photo, she really was too pretty! She is a very causal person, occasionally she would bust out a mom joke. She is pretty funny!"

In real life, Chun Mui and her daughter Hu Kei Yung have a harmonious relationship and get along like friends. Chun Mui humbly said tht she did not have any secret for raising her. "Mainly I give her more love, take the initiative to care bout her. I can't just teach her when she rebels. I have to work hard to maintain this relationship." Gladys revealed that she asked Chun Mui about how she got along with her daughter. "I am pretty envious of 'Ma Ji' and her daughter's relationship. Because I came from a rather traditional family, it's very hard to put my arm around my parents' shoulders and have heart to heart chats."

On the day of the production start, Chun Mui's left leg was bandaged and even a cane to walk. Chun Mui chuckled and said, "I am so clumsy, in this life I have fallen so many years. This time was the worst! When I slipped at home, I fell onto the marble curb between the bathroom and the room. I didn't just break my leg but fractured the bone a little. I hope there won't be a next time!" Injuring her leg before the production began, Chun Mui once worried that she would hinder the production. Luckily director Law Yiu Fai would accommodate and shoot the quieter scenes like eating at home. Chun Mui said, "In the film I had two 20 something daughters, the role would probably be around 50 or 60. Even if I walk around with a cane it wouldn't be too much problem." Chun Mui was working while recovering. The doctor said that her injury was no big deal, after two more weeks she would be healed.

Making her big screen debut, girl group COLLAR's Li Sum Ling was very happy to work with so many good actors. When she met Peter for the first time, she already could not wait to ask him for acting advice. She also praised Lee Lai Chun for her presence. "When I first met her, she used her eyes to slowly glance at the whole place. She really has a stable, secure feeling." Peter also agreed, "When Sister Mui stares at the world, she seems to have 3 seconds more of time and space than the normal person."

Bruce Lee has been Daniel Wu's idol since childhood

Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) earlier received the Asian World Film Festival and the Bruce Lee Foundation presented Bruce Lee Award. The award is presented by Bruce Lee's family to outstanding martial artists. Sammo Hung Kam Bo has received this honor before. Earlier accepting the award in Los Angeles, Daniel felt deeply honored. "This moment is truly like a dream, because I have been a Bruce Lee super fan since I was little. I have watched every one of his movies countless times. I even read all the books that he wrote and every book about him. I even tried to apply his principles in my own life, even my dog is named Bruce Lee. This way I can hear this name every name. Thus this truly is a very perfect moment, I really feel very honored and deeply feel how insignificant I am."
