The Shaw film PERFECT WEDDING (PO PO CHIU GAI YUN) yesterday held a press conference. Attendees included director Barbara Wong Chun Chun, actors Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Raymond Lam Fung, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Pierre Ngo Ka Nin, Kate Tsui Tsz Shan, Bernice Liu Bik Yi and TVB executive Elaine Lok Yi Ling. Earlier Ngo Ka Nin suffered a theft on the set and reportedly Chin Wa hinted Chau Sau Na was the culprit. Last night all three were present. Chin Wa immediately grabbed Chau Sau Na by the shoulder in a show of friendship. Chau Sau Na said that as a Chouzhounese she held no grudge and could be friends with Chin Wa.

As for accusing Chau Sau Na, Chin Wa said, "In order to prove Chau Sau Na and I are at odds, tell her to come over and slap me!" Chau Sau Na was chatting with someone else and did not respond. Chin Wa also said that Ngo Ka Nin already used his "Galileo" mind to find hints. Did she feel very innocent? She said, "I am used to it. After over a decade, when they write about me like this they are already giving me a lot of face. If they don't write I would be unhappy. Maybe they are looking foward to the movie!" Chin Wa expressed that gossips on the set were certain, but they instead have talked and played together more over the incident. After the interview, Chin Wa ran over and grabbed Chau Sau Na by the shoulder and pretended to slap her. They had a lot of fun. Then Ngo Ka Nin went over and they proved that they were fine by action. 

Chau Sau Na said that she was not embarrassed to see Chin Wa and Ngo Ka Nin because at work they have been talking all along and got along pleasantly. Did she ask Chin Wa whether she accused her? She said, "I never read that magazine, and since I didn't do it I never mentioned it again. (Did the crew look at you differently?) No, the crew always kept their personal items on them. They have been and they still do." She also said that she and Chin Wa were both Chouzhounese so they held no grudge. They could even be friends. Would they have any thorn? She said, "This incident isn't true. (Would you dislike Chin Wa because of it?) I don't care what people write, I can get along with anyone." Ngo Ka Nin said that he filed a police report so he was not at liberty to talk more, but the case has no progress yet. He said, "I apologized to Chau Sau Na, why would it be a silly pig like her? (Who is a silly pig?) The person who accused her, but I didn't hear Chin Wa said it was her." Wong Chun Chun reportedly displeased the actors with her frequent reshoots. Wong Chun Chung honestly admitted that during the shoot she indeed was very detailed, but she did so for the actors. She also denied that she went over schedule. Instead she was a few units short!

[2010.03.05] JACKY CHEUNG, TANG WEI ARGUMENT ATTRACTS ONLOOKERS

In the Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Tang Wei starred CROSSING HENNESSY (YUET MOON HIN NEI SI), the actors were often noisy and the production atmosphere was good. In one scene Tang Wei mistook Hok Yau for teaming with her "sassy" mother Paw Hee Ching to play a trick on her. Originally sitting at the coffee shop she left abruptly, leaving Hok Yau at a loss at the coffee shop. Finally he decided to run after Tang Wei to explain, but with the rage going to her head she of course would not listen. Thus they performed a struggle on the street scene.

Ordinarily easy going and mild tempered Hok Yau expressed that he never had any struggle experience with people on the street. This time he even had to shoot on the busy streets of Wanchai, which he thought was rather fresh. The location was busy all day, the early morning when the shoot took place was already a less crowded period. Yet with the Southorn Playground nearby, morning work out enthusiasts were abound. Thus the shoot still ran into inconveniences. Some passerby even stood and waited in hopes of a photo with Hok Yau between shots.

Tang Wei felt that the street shoot was very cheerful because her previous productions have only had the crew working next to them. This time however whenever they shot, the pedestrians would stop and look. She thought it was very interesting. Luckily Hok Yau and director Ivy Ho (Ong Sai) already gave her advice and prepared her mentally. During the shoot she got into character as if no one was around, otherwise they would be stuck on the streets of Wanchai and hinder the production.

The Tung Wah Group of hospitals chair Dr. John Lee Sam Yuen and Vice Chair Dr. Ina Ho Chan Un Chan two nights ago attended Tung Wah's first film TUNG FUNG POR (EAST WIND BREAK)'s wrap banquet. The film's director Yanyan Mak Yuen Yan, Cheng Sze Kit as well as actors Teddy Robin Kwan, Ella Koon Yun Na, Denise Ho Wan Si, Wilfred Lau Ho Lung and Susan Siu Yam Yam attended.

Ella in the film played a cancer patient. Although she had to perform without make up and dark eye circles, after the screening she felt that the result looked very pretty and great. During the shoot she and Nora Miao Ho Sau shot a boat capsizing scene in the Mainland. Although the authorities approved the shoot, local villagers suddenly had monetary misunderstanding. Someone threw rocks at her and Miao Ho Sau. Because at the time they were already on a boat they could not escape in time. Ella said, "They were throwing really big rocks, I was all weak at the knees. Even the boatman was scared witless." Finally they could only get on from the other side and leave through the roads on the hill.

Although Ella was able to escape that day, some workers were stuck for three days. Luckily the result was very satisfactory. She said, "This time I can say that I have run into the most impolite man in my life. If my boyfriend is so impolite, I would not only hit him, I would break up with him." Ella also revealed that earlier while working on a movie in Hong Kong she also ran into protection money collectors, but the production assistant took care of the matter.

[2010.03.04] HONG KONG FILM CRITIC SOCIETY AWARDS

The 16th Annual Hong Kong Film Critic Society award ceremony yesterday took place at the Sai Wan Ho Film Archive. BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING)'s Wang Xueqi and AT THE END OF DAYBREAK (SUM MOR)'s Wai Yin Hung won Best Actor and Best Actress. The event also announced seven recommended films and other awards. Fresh out of the oven Best Actor and Best Actress were very nervous. Wai Yin Hung was named Best Actress again 30 years later, she was so nervous that her arm suffered a break out.

Yesterday's ceremony invited Eric Tsang Chi Wai and John Chong Ching to present. Wai Yin Hung earlier with the film won the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actress. This time she won Best Actor. She would like to thank Tsang Chi Wai the most. He enlightened her when he asked her to make JIANG HU, in which she played a mother for the first time and widen her film range. This was Siu Hung's first Film Critic Society Best Actress award. When she learned the good news she was still asleep. Was she confident about the Hong Kong Film Award? She expressed that earlier she was already very nervous after learning that she won this award. Yesterday when she personally accepted it she was so nervous that her arm suffered a break out. She knew that many people thought she was the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress favorite. She too would like to win this award in order to thank everyone for their support. Siu Hung has been in the business for 31 years. She already won Best Actress at the 1st Hong Kong Film Award, but now at her age she would not have more chances to win. Instead she would have better chances with Best Supporting Actress nominations. If she would truly win this year, she would have to properly celebrate.

Wang Xueqi made the trip to Hong Kong to attend. He expressed that at first when he received Peter Chan Ho Sun's call he was told that this was a very important award, but yesterday he found how curiously few people were present. He thanked BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS' actors, like Leon Lai Ming who despite not being in the shoot stayed to rehearse with him. This time also changed his view on Nicholas Tse Ting Fung. He felt that he was not only handsome but also a kid with potential. Wang Xueqi said that although he was older than Ting Fung and his elder in the business, he still respected him very much. Was his confidence of winning the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor strengthened? Wang Xueqi said that he still has not seen his fellow nominees' work. He would like to win because the award was a recognition of an actor.

Other awards included Best Screenplay for WRITTEN BY's Wai Ka Fai and Au Kin Yi, Best Director for OVERHEARD's Alan Mak Siu Fai and Felix Chong Man Keung, and Best Picture KJ.

[2010.03.04] PAT HA MAY COME BACK AROUND APRIL

After retiring from film for awhile, Pat Ha Man Jik recently made more public appearance. Yesterday she attended a skin care production promotion.

As for recent rumor of a film comeback for her, Ha Man Jik said that right now she was half and half and would let it be. She said that her third daughters were all grown, even her youngest was already 15 and very independent. At the event Ha Man Jik and Elaine Lok Yi Ling kept chatting. Did Ms. Lok ask her to come back? She expressed that they once were co-workers and got along very well. With the suitable script she would work on it. Earlier a director invited her to perform, if all went well she would begin work in April or May.

As for her impression of the new generation of artists, she said that Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and William Chan Wai Ting were decent. She also said that Chow Yun Fat was her idol, if they would have a chance to work together she would not mind the salary. Ha Man Jik said she did not want to make movies for overnight success and did not want to give herself stress. However, she said that she has never won Best Actress and she would like to win awards. She felt the sense of satisfaction would be more important than the money. Ha Man Jik attended the Hong Kong Film Award last year. When she won Best Dressed she was very surprised. As for production schedule, she would like to work 12 hour daily at most as she must sleep.

[2010.03.04] RAYMOND LAM POSTPONES RECORD RELEASE

Raymond Lam Fung, Tavia Yeung Yi and Bobby Auyeung Chun Wa yesterday attended their new TVB series worshipping ceremony. Lam Fung lately has been busy with both film and television. He revealed that his original March Mandarin record release date had to be postponed. He said, "Originally I would have to make FEI CHUI MING JU (JADE PEARL) in Beijing, but because I am working on another film I probably wouldn't go until May." Lam Fung lately has been working on PERFECT WEDDING with Miriam Yeung Chin Wa. He expressed that they had a kiss scene. When asked how many takes they had he said several times. Was it very passionate? He said, "It was touching and emotional, I have to thank Brother Tan (Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui). He also arranged for me to be with (Chrissie) Chau Sau Na. We too have a kiss scene."

When asked whether Chin Wa's husband Gary Ting Chi Ko came to observe the kiss scene, he joked, "Before hand I thought about whether he would come or not, luckily in the end he didn't. If he did I definitely would have been very nervous."

[2010.03.04] RONALD CHENG HAD A FEVER AS JANE

The film JUST ANOTHER PANDORA'S BOX (YUET GUONG BO HUP) two nights ago held a screening. Later a forum was held after the show at the cinema. Attendees included director Jeff Lau Chun Wai and actor Ronald Cheng Chung Kei. This film's cast included over 60 Mainland and Hong Kong artists, but most of the attention went to rumored couple Alex Fong Lik Sun and Gillian Chung Yun Tung. Although they shared scenes together it was actually due to editing. During the shoot they did not meet at all. Ronald in one scene had to play KING KONG's Jane but he tried his best to cover up his love tattoo.

Ronald claimed that on the day when he played Jane a rare solar eclipse took place, but he had a fever and was tied to a crucifix. Halfway through the shoot, everyone went to see the solar eclipse and completely forgot about him. No matter how he screamed no one noticed. He could only sleep on the cross as he joked that it was the most tragic day for him.

Just returning from Canada, Lau Chun Wai honestly said that JUST's starting point was mischief. Because he saw some Hollywood remakes of some classic scenes, he wanted to try to connect them into a story like EAGLE SHOOTING HEROES (DUNG SING SAI JAU). He said, "The creativity isn't hard, scheduling is the hardest due to the numerous actors." Did he consider cutting Ah Gil's scenes for the Mainland market? He said, "I couldn't, otherwise I would have to reshoot. (Did you think about giving up the Mainland market for Ah Gil?) No because I had to respect Mainland investors. In addition the director is only a creator, the other stuff is left for investors to consider." A viewer asked them what they would do if they found the Pandora's Box? Ronald honestly said that he would like to go to the future. If he discovered that he would be broke, he would work harder when he returned. As for the director he thought about going to the future, but did not go as far as Ronald.

In addition, recent reports claimed that the Lau Chun Wai directed film TIN SIN (HEAVENLY MAIDEN) had financing issues. He honestly said that the film's investor Tsai Chung-Lin had financial mobilization issues. The film originally was to wrap before the Lunar New Year but now its production has halted with one week before completion. Was he afraid that the film would not be finished? Lau Chun Wai expressed that he has never run into anything like this so it probably would not. Reportedly aside from actors, other people also were not paid. He said that nothing like that seemed to have happened. Mainly it was a production budget issue. This film's cast included Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Ronald Cheng Chng Kei, Lam Suet and Sun Li. Lau Chun Wai also pointed out that the film's production halt messed up his plans, but he definitely would make adjustments to finish the film. He also pointed out that the boss has many great contributions to the film industry. He hoped that no one would kick him while he was down. He also called him to console him.
