[2012.01.05] CHRISSIE CHAU PROMOTES ON BUSES

courtesy of on.cc

The Chrissie Chau Sau na starred film 3D BAUHINIA WOMAN (3D JI GAING HUP) is still under preparation, but the film company has already become its promotion and even spent 1 million on two double decker buses.  The entire bus was filled with Sister Na's photos as both sides had a tough looking Sister Na holding a Bauhinia mask; on another side was the tenderness of the heroine behind the mask.

This film has broken the rule of promoting a month before the film's release.  As early as last year it has already began promoting and will not open until next year.

[2012.01.05] JIMMY LIN DOES IS OWN STUNT DRIVING

Jimmy Lin starred in SPEED ANGELS (GIK CHOOK TIN SI) and served as its racing consultant.  In one scene he drove a truck to the raceway when he was intercepted and thugs beat him up.  He successfully shook them off and with Han Jae-Suk drove the race car to the raceway just in time.  Jimmy Lin personally performed the stunt and drove fast on the highway.

Director Jingle Ma Chor Sing pointed out that Jimmy Lin was so fast that he almost could not capture him on film.  Jimmy Lin had the last say on racing technique but he and the director still had discussions.  He had more sentimental considerations.  Jimmy Lin joked that he as a professional driver was under the guidance of the director who did not have a driver's license!

Andy Lau Tak Wa after announcing to his fans "good news at home" on his official site over a month ago yesterday finally met the press in Hong Kong to promote A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH).  As for his wife's pregnancy status, Wa Jai was reluctant to reveal much and only admitted that his wife is four months pregnant.  Yet his smile came from the heart, obviously Wa Jai as the soon to be father was both elated and excited.  He admitted that he has been waiting for this moment for a long time.

Reporters immediately congratulated Wa Jai as soon as he appeared.  He laughed in acceptance, "Thank you thank you!"  Yet he honestly said that he did not want to say too much because this interview was for work.  Later he again cited his golden phrase, "Be nice!"  Reporters responded with Leon Lai Ming's golden phrase, "Let us be bad one more time."  Wa Jai laughed and shook his head.  He said, "Earlier when I said it it was three month, now it is four months.  (The period is) over!"  When asked whether his wife was pregnant, he laughed and said, "OK, OK, thank you everyone.  (Are you excited?)  OK!  (Boy or Girl?)  Thank you."  Speaking of many friends' well wishes, he said that he received everyone's well wishes and thanked everyone.  Has he communicated with Miriam Yeung Chin Wa?  Wa Jai said no.  Has he booked a bed?  He said, "They know!  I too know I have to get past this process (questions)."

When would Wa Jai stop working?  He pointed out that later he will have to work on DWELLING IN THE FUCHUN MOUNTAIN until after the Lunar New Year.  After he completed all contracted work he would stop.  He would still work on Johnnie To Kei Fung's film because it would be shot in Hong Kong.  Has he told Ah To when he would stop working?  Wa Jai pointed out that this film would be shot in Hong Kong so it would be OK.  Has he attended any parenting class?  He said, "Thank you thank you, let's talk in private.  (Have you bought any baby product?)  Why are you so stubborn?"  Reporters pointed out that everyone have been waiting for a long time and were happy for him.  Wa Jai said, "Me too, thank you thank you."  Has he hired any childbirth assistant because some required appointments a year in advance.  Wa Jai said, "A year in advance?  Who knows when the baby will come?  Pregnancy only takes ten months."  Would his mother help with her grandchild?  He said, "I don't know, let me ask for you."

The Lunar New year will come soon, would this year be much more meaningful?  Wa Jai said, "Please let me go.  (We can get laisee!)  Thank you for your concern."  When asked again whether the baby will be a boy or a girl?  Wa Jai joked that privately he could tell everyone.  He himself liked both.  As god-grandmother Deanie Ip Tak Han was asked whether the baby will be a boy or a girl.  She joked, "I can't say, I can't talk about family stuff."

Producer Derek Yee Tung Sing, director Law Chi Leung yesterday held actors Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Lau Ching Wan, Wu Gang, Liu Kai Chi and Jing Boran to attend the film SIU SUT DIK JI DAN (VANISHING BULLET) set visit press conference.  Siu Bo revealed that the film would through "great detectives investigating a mystery and solves a conspiracy" story bring police film into another climax.  The film was a story that director Law Chi Leung has planned for five years.  He stressed that the film had both "action" and "suspense" in order to create the most entertaining and intelligent work of his career so far.

The film took place in the largest armory during the Republic era.  A series of mysterious murders took place, as each cursed "phantom bullet" led detective Lau Ching Wan and hot blooded investigator Tse Ting
Fung into a dangerous pursuit of the culprit.  Ching Wan was in THE MAD DETECTIVE (SUN TAM), but this time this detective was "very awkward.  He knew neither kung fu nor gun use".  Having played many "vicious cops" Ting Fung this time changed from his past impulsive image and displayed extraordinary intelligence and scheming.  Although they worked together for the first time they were already full of chemistry.  Ting Fung admitted that he participated because of Ching Wan, "the actor who the most stars want to work with".  He thought that being able to work with "Brother Ching Wan" was a recognition of himself.  Privately he would even "peek" at his acting.  Ching Wan praised Ting Fung as very hard work and was envious of his intimate romantic scenes with Mini Yang Mi.  They agreed that their first collaboration was a lot of fun and had exchanges both on and off screen.  At the shoot they were able to set off spark.

[2012.01.05] INTERCONTINENTAL DARES NOT BE COMPLACENT

courtesy of takungpao.com

Hong Kong film's performance of the past year was not considered ideal, but the year's box office was better than before.  The annual revenue reached 1.3 billion, which the industry was excited about.  Intercontinental, mainly a foreign film distributor, distributed TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, which was the year's box office champion with 84 million.

Intercontinental's Terry Lai was pleased with the performance but dared not be complacent.  The fact was among last year's top ten box office, Intercontinental had three.  Aside from TRANSFORMERS it also distributed KUNG FU PANDA 2 and I LOVE HONG KONG (NGOR OI HK HOI SUM MAN SHUI).  Lady Lai said that the performance was mainly due to film quality and the strengthen of collaborating companies.  Regrettably the only local production to break into the top five was the extreme 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY (3D YUK PO TUEN ji GIK LOK BO GAM).  Lady Lai said that as a distributor she was pleased with the performance but as a part of the Hong Kong film industry she looked forward to Hong Kong domestic productions to be able to perform well in the new year and rival foreign films.
