The Best Actor Simon Yam Tat Wah produced mainland internet
film NEVER A THIEF suddenly officially announced its release a few days
ago. Due to the rushed schedule, the cast and the crew including Chin
Kar Lok all "made efforts" on the Internet to promote it. In the story
Yam Tat Wah led a team to launch a series of thrilling theft of cultural
relics. His character appeared with long white hair and was ruthless.
He even started a series of vicious fights with Chin Kar Lok.
Recalling moments from the filming, Yam Tat Wah said, "We worked
in Xiamen for 20 days, filming for 16 hours a day and there were many
action scenes. The most memorable thing is of course the major fight
scene between me and Hin Kar Lok, which took 5 days to shoot without
using a stand-in at all. He told me that he hasn't fought on the set
for many years, and joked that he had muscle soreness from all the
fighting. I told him that a 'novice' like me should hurt twice as much
as him." He was injured in his right hand due to an attack a few years
ago. This time he tore a ligament near his left shoulder from the
fighting, and he had to rest for more than two months before recovering.
In addition, Yam Tat Wah also invited Ben Yuen Fu Wah and Kenny
Wong Tak Bun to join the battle and recreate the soul of Hong Kong
films. Once named "Asia's Most Beautiful", Korean beauty Clara also
participated, but Yam Tat Wah did not particularly spare her as he found
an MMA expert to fight her. Clara was quick and accurate with her
punches.
The Danny Pang Fat directed, Eddie Cheung Siu Fai (Brother Fai),
Venus Wong Man Yik and Helena Law Lan starred horror suspense film HUNG
SUM YUN has been scheduled for release on August 14th. The movie told
the story of a couple who lost their beloved son, and the wife invited
a rag doll who was "possessed" by her son through the Internet. She
hoped to make her son better through the method of "soul possession",
but a series of strange incidents began to occur at home. Cheung Siu
Fai praised Director Pang for being loyal and keeping his promise, and
turning Wong Man Yik, who has always resisted making thrillers, to make
the film.
Always resisted making thrillers, Wong Man Yik said frankly that
she was very surprised when she received the invitation. "Not to
mention a ghost movie, I wouldn't even dare to watch a thriller."
However Director Pang Fat's invitation made her curious. "After
watching THE EYE (GEIN GWAI) that he and (Oxide) Pang Shun made, I never
dared to watch this kind of movie again." Wong Man Yik said that what
finally touched her was the touching family core in the script. "After
reading the script, I wanted to cry on the spot but I endured it. I
didn't want to scare the director." During the filming process,
director Pang Fat's humor completely subverted how she imagined horror
film production would be. "I didn't expect a horror film production
could be so happy, especially when I rehearsed with Brother Fai. I
gained a lot, and I felt very satisfied every time I finished acting."
Brother Fai played a father who has become depressed due to the
loss of his wife and children in the film, and his emotional processing
was extremely complicated. Wong Man Yik praised Brother Fai's superb
performance in the film. "Brother Fai vividly interpreted the complex
emotions of love and hate, and seeing Brother Fai everyday was very
heartbreaking." She admitted that although the role was heavy, the two
could always act happily when they played against each other. "Filming
a thriller has become a pleasure, and the key to filming was not the
subject matter but the harvest and enjoyment in the performance
process."
Brother Fai said that he took the role for two reasons. "First,
this thriller packaged family story moved me as a father; the second is
out of trust in Director Pang." Brother Fai said that he thought about
his family during the shoot. "After making this film, I know how to
cherish my family even more." He revealed that although the film has
Law Lan's "Dragon Granny" image and thriller elements and Pang Fat
himself excelled at making this kind of movie, Director Pang really
wanted to talk about family, love for his wife and son, and sacrifice
for them as a husband and father. He specifically praised his wife Wong
Man Yik in the film as a smart and talented co-star, and looked forward
to working with her next time. Brother Fai even praised Director Pang's
promise keeping in the industry was truly rare. He recalled, "Many
years ago Director Pang promised to compensate me when he deleted my
scene because of the plot, but I didn't expect to play the male lead for
me a few years later. In fact the size of the role was not important,
the key was to have room to perform."
In addition, during the filming Director Pang was facing the
dilemma of his wife being seriously ill. However he still insisted on
working professionally while taking care of his wife, which made Brother
Fai and Wong Man Yik both distressed for and admired him.

Veteran actor Chow Chung (originally named Sin Kam Wing) passed
away from illness at the beginning of the month at the age of 92. His
family yesterday arranged for services to begin at the Universal Funeral
Parlor with Taoist and non religious ceremonies. The funeral was held
at 10 a.m. today, and the coffin was transported to Cape Collinson
Crematorium. The mourning hall was elegantly decorated, with a
horizontal plaque that read "Blessing and Longevity", and a color photo
of Chow Chung's kind smile was placed in front of the altar.
Chow Chung has been in the art world for more than 60 years, and
was also known as TVB's "official grandfather". He was very popular in
the circle and had the respect of many juniors. Wreaths from friends
and junior colleagues also filled the inside and outside the mourning
hall, including Miriam Yeung Chin Wah, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Wayne Lai
Yiu Cheung and his wife, Nancy Sit Ka Yin, Susanna Kwan Kuk Ying and her
partner Willie Chow Wai Lei, Law Tsz Yik and his wife, Sun King On and

Chow Chung's three daughters and one son went to the mourning
hall early in the morning to take care of everything, and the family
agreed to allow the media to enter the mourning hall for filming.
However Chow Chung's children wanted to keep a low profile and did not
want to appear on camera, so they went into the inner hall to rest
during the media filming. People in the circle including Cheung Kwok
Keung, Chan Wai Shan, Pak Yan, Lo Lok Lam, Chung Chi Kwong, Ng Yu, Wong
Man Wai, and Tin Kai Man came to give their condolence one after
another. Among them Chan Wai Shan talked with Lo Lok Lam for a while,
and her eyes were red when she left. After that Law Lan arrived at the
funeral parlor with a cane, and Cheung Kwok Keung rushed out to help as
Law Lan was obviously saddened.
Law Lan specifically came to see her old friend Uncle Chung off
for the last time. She said: "We are really old friends, we have been
filming together since our 20s until now. You can say life is long or
short, mainly you have to be yourself!" Speaking of unforgettable
memories, Sister Law Lan said, "There are a lot from when we made black
and white Cantonese films. Earlier we have filmed a few TVB dramas.
He was obviously so big and healthy, didn't seem that weak. I don't
know if the air is poor now, many people are in pain. Everyone should
take care and don't eat indiscriminately."
Was she reluctant to part with Uncle Chung? Law Lan's eyes were
filled with tears instantly. "Nothing I can do, some diseases are
untreatable. I hope everyone would takes care!" Speaking of Bowie Wu
Fung (Brother Sau) was heartbroken as well, Sister Law Lan said that she
has not checked in with Brother Sau in the past few days. She wanted to
call him during the typhoon a few days ago, but in the end she could not
get in touch.
Eric Chung Chi Kwong recalled that he often visited Uncle Chung.
At the beginning Uncle Chung took off his mask and bounced up when he
saw him. Later Uncle Chung's health deteriorated and he had to wear an
oxygen mask. When he and Junior Anderson (On Tak Juen) went to visit,
Uncle Chung also lowered the oxygen mask to join in and talk about
sports. "Uncle Chung is in his 90s, but he has a good memory. He often
talks about sports and movies. Even if he talks about working with
(Patrick) Tse Yin on COLORFUL PARTNERS (CHUT CHOI LAN HING LAN DAI), and
the movies with Nam Hung, he easily remembers all the details." On the
day before Uncle Chung's death, when Chung Chi Kwong and Cecilia So Yan
Chee visited, Uncle Chung's condition deteriorated again. Yet when he
saw them coming, the instrument was beating and they knew that he had a
reaction. "However the passing of an elder is so sad. He has carried
forward the past and forged ahead in film history, assisting us. I have
collaborated with Uncle Chung on several dramas, and he would not treat
me like a 'sports broadcasting guy'. He is kind." Did Chow Chung pass
from pneumonia? Chung Chi Kwong said that he heard from Uncle Chung's
family that Uncle Chung had been hit with the novel coronavirus twice.
The virus would inevitably affect the lungs of the elderly. He also
pointed out that Uncle Chung was optimistic and had no regret, and he
was even more pleased that he has been based in the film industry for
many years.

Yesterday was the 43rd anniversary of Anita Mui Yim Fong's
(Sister Mui) debut. On July 18, 1982, Sister Mui won the first New
Talent singing contest with "The Season of the Wind". Yesterday's
yellow rain warning did not stop the fans from remembering her, and
a large number of fans of the "Anita Mui International Fan Club"
braved the showers to go to Shang Sin Chun Tong in Kowloon Tong and
on Lantau Island to pay their respects with flowers, fruits and
Sister Mui's favorite dim sum and other offerings. Fans also
presented a number of giant floral arrangements to remember this
eternal "Daughter of Hong Kong".
As for Mui Nation, they presented flowers in front of the
bronze statue of Mui Yim Fong on the Avenue of Stars. The
bandleader Lai Hok Bun, who has worked with Sister Mui for more
than 20 years, played the song "Intimate Lover" with the saxophone
to remember Sister Mui. When the ceremony began, the storm stopped
temporarily and everyone thanked the spirit of Sister Mui in Heaven.
The president of Mui Nation, Eva said that this scene was the same
as when the bronze statue of Sister Mui was unveiled 11 years ago.
She revealed that an event would also be held on Sister Mui's
birthday on October 10th, and they held a small concert in Sister
Mui's hometown of Guangxi in May. This year they also plan to
hold a fan gathering in the Greater Bay Area.
Yesterday Susan Shaw Yam Yam also went to the bronze statue
of Sister Mui to offer flowers. She said that although she had not
collaborated with Sister Mui in a movie, when Sister Mui was the
president of the Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild she often
looked for company sponsorship to support the Guild operation. She
was willing to run errands in order to save operating cost. She
found that the most similar to each other was their raspy voices.
They both talked tough but not mean at all, and they were both
righteous. For example, during "SARS" in 2003 the "1:99 Concert"
raised funds to donate to families affected by SARS and subsidized
students to study abroad. Sister Mui was very generous and gave as
much support as possible, one of the students has now become a
world-class acoustic guitar professor, and then joined Sister Mei's
fan club after returning to Hong Kong. Sister Yam Yam knew that
many students also silently remember Sister Mui's kindness to them.
"She was like an angel, she never shirk from people in the business
asking for help. She was really a treasure of Hong Kong."
In addition, regarding to the death of director Taylor Wong Tai
Loi, Sister Yam Yam said that they have cooperated since the RTV era.
She knew that he was suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer for more than
10 years, and he had 2 chemotherapy treatments that are so painful.
Sometimes he was afraid that he would be infected at a gathering of
friends and did not attend, but he could still be regarded as living for
more than 10 years.
As for Lai Hoi Bun, he has cooperated with Sister Mui for more
than 20 years since the Capital Artists era. She has always taken care
him. He recalled that she was approachable and close to the people,
and would stay in cheap hotels and take the bus with them. Great at
playing games, she never lost. In the past he was responsible for
playing Sister Mui's classic song "Dream Companion", and every time he
would hear "Hold Tight the Person in Front of You" he would be very
touched.

Wong Chau Sun gave the whole film as perfect score. "It can't be topped!
I've seen the best movie I've ever seen! I couldn't find any spot to
deduct points from; the artistic content is very high, and the
entertainment value is also very high; it's a film with a lot of Hong
Kong flavor and a Hong Kong director's style!"
Yung Cho Yee admitted that every time she watched Chan Ho Sun's
movies, she was also very excited. "It's shocking, director Chan Ho Sun
has always had such a vision and connotation, filming topics that
everyone dare not touch,. Every time I watch his movie, I am also very
excited!" The fresh out of the oven Best Actress Wai Sze Nga described
it as an actor's textbook. "Every role is well played, it's a textbook
for actors! You won't want to miss a minute!" Cheung King Hin praised
