MIRROR members Edan Lui Cheuk On, Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Zhang Songwen, and Will Or Wai Lam starred in the film based on a true story, SECRET IN THE BOX (JI HOP CHONG MAI), which has become the closing film of the "Summer International Film Festival 2026." Producer Philip Yung Tsz Kwong led the cast to the premiere the night before last, with Simon Yam Tat Wah, Charmaine Sheh sze Man, and Herman Yau Lai To in attendance to show their support. Lui Cheuk On revealed that in SECRET IN THE BOX he played a delinquent and had to smoke and get into fights, joking that the cigarette flavor was too strong and made him dizzy. He was busy filming ViuTV's new Hong Kong version of the drama "Long Vacation". He noticed his co-star Ali Lee Kai Sum was playful and revealed that while filming an all-night scene, he secretly took "dark photos" of her sleeping. Yet he lamented that they were not "dark at all" but he was not worried about Lee Kai Sum secretly taking photos of him in retaliation.

SECRET IN THE BOX producer Yung Tsz Kwong revealed that the story was set in the 1970s, and filming on location and hoping to faithfully recreate the look of Hong Kong at that time would be difficult. He believed that the result would evoke memories for some viewers. Lead actor Zhang Songwen described the story as simple, but the characters he portrayed would span over 20 years from his 30s to his 50s, making it quite challenging. He was the happiest to have this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Hong Kong.

Lui Cheuk On revealed that in the film he played a rebellious youth, with scenes of fighting and smoking. Because the cigarette flavor was too strong, he felt dizzy. "The film has some thrilling action scenes. We had to shoot at sea, and we had to be suspended over the exterior wall of a building -- it was quite thrilling. I had a fight scene with Or Wai Lam, but I was the one who getting hit." He is currently busy filming his new drama "Long Vacation," which has started work for three days and pulled all-nighters for days. He described the team and actors were well matched and fun. Working with Ali Lee Kai Sum for the first time, Lui Cheuk On found the Goddess to be a lot of fun and looked forward to even more sparks. "Ali once said in an interview that she was not afraid of being secretly photographed. Recently while filming an all-night scene, I took the chance to secretly take 'dark photos' of her sleeping. Yet the photos didn't come out 'dark' at all. I wasn't worried about being secretly photographed by her." The intimate kiss scene between the two has not yet been filmed. To show courtesy and respect for his co-star, Lui Cheuk On would make sure to brush his teeth, rinse his mouth with mouthwash, chew gum, and refuse to eat strongly flavored foods beforehand.

The Internet praised Lee Kai Sum's brilliant portrayal of Tomoko Yamaguchi's role in "Long Vacation." Lui Cheuk On agreed that Lee's performance was just right, but he did not dare to comment on himself. "I don't dare to say if I channel Takuya Kimura. I just try my best to play the role well. If the director says it's okay, then that's enough." His close friend Bonnie Wong Ching Yee has been said to be earning HK$ 5 million a year and becoming a little rich lady in the circle, even moving to Kadoorie Hill. After finishing the stage play in October, he would immediately begin preparing for the Golden Horse Awards emcee. In the Golden Horse Awards promotional video, he said he was a bit more attractive than Greg Hsu. Or Wai Lam explained, "I purely stuck to the dialogue and treated it like a joke. No one needs to take it to heart."

Tam Yiu Man remembered a prison scene in the film. That day he suddenly received news of the passing of Auyeung Bing Keung, the real life basis for the film's character, which felt almost unbelievably coincidental and sent chills down his spine. In that prison scene, Ah Tam and Zhang Songwen had ten minutes long dialogues that they completed in one take. He joked that the two people used up a box of tissue from crying. Earlier when he performed at a mainland nightclub, viewers posted the video on social media to criticize him for having a belly and a barrel waist. Tam Yiu Man joked that thanks to the coverage, he got many more opportunities to perform. He explained that it was "happy fat." The annual beauty pageant, Miss Hong Kong Pageant Final 2026, was held last night at Tseung Kwan O TV City. This year, the Hong Kong theme was "dare to be perfect". After rounds of competitions between 12 candidates, favorite Bernice Yuen firmly sat on the throne. Her eloquent performance even won her thumbs up from Crystal Fung Ying Ying and Rachel Chan Yee Tak in the audience. Successfully losing 13 pounds, Ada Tang with a great showing was the surprise second runner-up, and the third runner-up Scarlett Li received double titles as she also won "Miss Photogenic".

This year's group of hosts comprised of "Three Brothers: Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming, Edwin Siu Ching Nam, Raymond Cho Wing Lim, with Luk Ho Ming and Leonard Cheng Hin Fung. This was the first time in the 26 years since Ma Kwok Ming entered the industry to take on the role of a large-scale live program. He and Cho Wing Lim hosted Miss Hong Kong for the first time, so they inevitably appeared rusty. Later the three talked about "qualifications", Siu Ching Nam said that he already had experience, because as early as 2023 he had presided over the pageant with three television Best Actors Joel Chan Shan Chung, Moses Chan Ho and Ruco Chan Chin Pang. Last night Gin Lee opened the show with a performance of "Iconic" and "Dum Dum". 12 candidates appeared and introduced themselves with the topic "My Bravest Moment." Then Tsang Pei Tat performed the classic songs "Flower Field Mistake" and "In Search of Deities", as candidates immediately appeared in an elegant and gorgeous evening dress that showed a unique oriental beauty. The main performance of the evening was the cross-platform collaboration between Leung Hon Man and Celina Harto (Chan Ching Yi), Zoie Tse Shuk Yi and Rosita Kwok Pak Yin. Three female artists each showed their talents: Chan Ching Yi played the harp live, Tse Shuk Yi performed an elegant piano piece with Leung Hon Man, and known as "Demon Tone Chin Chin", Kwok Pak Yin even sang two verses and played a little clarinet to pass the test.

Twelve candidates accepted the pageant's "one word" challenge, and many candidate showed their quick wit. Among them 1 Bernice Yuen who received the word "wrong" performed the most prominently. She replied, "I feel I got the word wrong to tell me not to wrongly miss any opportunity tonight, not to be wrongly miss the opportunity to face the camera. In addition the word could be divided into two parts, the gold part symbolizes the most golden time of my life is now; the past part reminds me not to look back at the past and to go forward." 10 Cecilia Chan's eloquence also received a lot of praise. When the pageant gave the word "loss", Cecilia Chan responded very quickly and said, "When I returned to the TV city today, take a guess who I ran into. In the "Talent Performance" session, candidates performed mainly dances, including candidate 1 Bernice Yuen's Jazz Funk performance, 2 Scarlett Li's Latin dance, 3 Chorie Li's Pop Jazz, 7 Vera Yang's Chinese dance plus calligraphy, 8 Ada Tang's fan dance, 9 Gracia Zhou's umbrella dance, 10 Cecilia Chan's water-sleeved dance and Guzheng performance, and 11 Agnes Yan's ballet. More eye-catching was 5 Etherine Wei, who not only wore a revealing costume to perform snake dance but also performed a split. 12 Caris Tang was more innovative as she performed sign language. Announcing that she would DJ in advance, 6 Jasmine Lo's performance had no surprise.

Subsequently, the candidates changed into swimwear, with elegant and expensive fur coats and snow boots. They put on sunglasses, appeared with the mascot "Snow Monster", and carried out a one-on-one duels. Finally, candidate 1 Bernice Yuen, 2 Scarlett Li, 6 Jasmine Lo and 8 Ada Tang successfully reached to the top four.

The experienced producer Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting teamed up with the new generation of directors Norris Wong Yi Lam and Wong Hoi to jointly direct the "Directors' Succession Scehme" work GOOD TRIP! (NGOR AH DEH SEUG LUI HUNG), which would open on October 15th. Recently the film has released a number of new stills, Philip Keung Ho Man, MIRORR member Stanley Yau Si Chun, Yeung Nga Man (THAIMAY), Philip Ng Wan Lung, and other actors appeared one by one. Among them Keung Ho Man and Cheung Ka Fai once again played brothers on the big screen, scenes that were full of chemistry became one of the highlights of the film; and Stanley also challenged the costume style for the first time.

Keung Ho Man revealed that when he first took GOOD TRIP!, he hoped to work with Cheung Ka Fai again. "I remember at first when I took the role, I was going to play this character. After I finished reading the script, I have considered recommending myself to the director for another role. Because I haven't worked with Ka Fai, I wanted to find a fun role to collide with." He did ot expect to receive the director's phone call to inform him that he would instead play Cheung Ka Fai's brother. Keung Ho Man was overjoyed, and even said that working together again, they immediately found the chemistry from the UNBEATABLE days. "Who knew I would get another call from the director about a role change to play Ka Fai's rother. I couldn't be happier!" Recalling their classic scene in UNBEATABLE, Keung Ho Man said frankly, "I dare to say that no one can smash back the scenes between Fai and Tai Shui in UNBEATABLE. Our sparks were very wonderful. Without any need to say more, everyone would now how to react next with just one look."

He described their collaboration on the set was very natural. They often did not need too much communication to be able to improvise and set off different sparks. "On the set we would very naturally smash out different ideas, which is a great chemical effect. This time feels like everyone is much more mature. As soon as some ideas return, so do the memories. It's a lot of fun! This time this movie is another type of feeling, in comparison to the men's romance in UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN), I can only say it has increased and not diminished." Although he did not have many scenes, Keung Ho Man believed that each scene would be able to give them enough to play the brotherhood of them.

In addition, Stanley in the film GOOD TRIP! challenged a costume look for the first time and appeared with long hair, blade and muscles. No wonder even he joked that the costume was special. After work he posted photos from the trip. He seemed to be less than pleased with his figure though, as he asked AI for help. In the end AI generated "secondary development" of Stanley's chest, abdominal and biceps and added popping veins. The photos were horrifying yet hilarious.

Officially opening today, the film WAKESURF LOVERS (LONG FA NAM NJUI) was about the Renci Yeung Sze Wing played Wakesurf coach, because of her teaching method was publicly judged by the Internet and abused by trend followers. Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun then with his internet moniker "Pacific Ocean Jellyfish King" posted a mocking video that went viral. Later he found out that she was only discredited by rumors, so he was willing to risk everything to find justice for her. As for how he would face online criticism in real life, Jeffrey seemed quite open- minded. He believed that life was like a book that documented itself, with both advantages and disadvantages. During self-examination of course they would be taken for granted, but others might see it from different angles when they read and resulting in a very different understanding.

The film had many water skiing performances. Jeffrey admitted that at first he did not understand water skiing and falling into the water was very frustrating. "Because when I work on fight scenes, even if I don't fight pretty the shoot could play the fight pretty. Yet if I can't fall in water skiing, as if would affect the progress. So when I first got up in the water early in the training, I had a great sense of satisfaction and felt like I could fly. I was very high, but the director told me to do what I was able to do." With water skiing experience, Renci and Kevin Chu Kam Yin (Chu Jai) felt that Jeffrey had quite a knack, spending only a very short time to be able to perform water skiing tricks like air jump.

Chu Jai was a representative of the Hong Kong swimming team, but he laughed and said that he was not a representative of water skiing; so playing the star water skiing coach "Joe God" had certain difficulties, very different from the mentality of going for fun. "Going from the amateur mode to the professional mode specifically required focus. During the performance I need more expression management. In front of the camera I have to act very Chill and very relaxed, but inside my heart I was actually very nervous." Renci agreed, "Normally I am only chasing targets and techniques while wakesurfing, but during the shoot because of the weight of the machines the wave had a cave in spot in front. I had to mind the expression to be beautiful, but also be afraid of falling in." As an amateur she felt more and more guilty and scared as the shoot went on. "I remember during the half a year between training to the official shoot, the weather got cold and hot. I have been in the ice cold seawater, as well as under the blazing day all the day. My tan couldn't be any darker. Later when I made NIGHT KING (YEH WONG) I was very afraid that I would be the darkest one among the girls. I believe the NIGHT KING behind the scene staff tuned my tan from dark to light." Renci and Chu Jai needed to double water ski, which was even more difficult. Because the two ships must move close to each other and in front, the waves caused by each other would also affect the other and made control even more difficult.

This time a large number of water skiing scenes were filmed every day from sunrise to sunset, and the actors were much more tanned under the blazing sun. Jeffrey joked that with a lot of the time under the sun, even the abdominal curves looked better. HE did not have to deliberately work out. Chu Jai already had to show off his muscles as soon as appeared. He himself was worried about not being fit enough, but after consultation with the director they thought that teaching water skiing did not necessarily require being very big; so he worked out as a part of the water skiing training. Regarding in the film his ways to win over the customers made him very popular, was he very popular with girls when he taught to swim in the past? Chu Jai smiled and said, "It was okay! In the past I taught swimming on and off, but not as commercialized as Joe God. Before when teaching swimming at the swimming club or some government swimming pool, I was a little friendlier and didn't need to please people in an exaggerated away like in the film. Before I taught five or six-year-old children so they were like playing in the water, but this time I have taught adults with ways to teach. Only the content was different, which was helpful for business." Renci was only featured in sports-style swimwear. She said that the focus of the role was to show the body when water skiing, especially focusing on subtle movements and expression management. She also believed that the audience's viewing angle of the film would not be limited to the actor's costume, but looking forward to seeing the presentation of water skiing skills even more.

Jeffrey was seriously injured during the filming. He recalled, "At the time we were shooting the close up shot of the boat operator while I continued to waterski in the back. Because in the shoot I was in the earliest stage I couldn't let go on the trope. When I held the rope and fell into the water, the rope strangled me for three or four seconds straight. Fortunately later I was able to grab the rope. After I got out of the water the staff immediately patched me up, and sent me to the hospital where I saw how horrific my condition was (marks left on his neck). I am so grateful that I am still here!" After the injury he rested for a month before returning to work to shoot the rest of the water scene. When he got back in the water he was traumatized. "I can't say that I wasn't scared at all. As soon as I let go off the rope, I would focus on the rope's position before performing. Indeed I was a little traumatized." Renci witnessed Jeffrey's injury. "It was really a critical moment of life and death. When I saw it I was very scared. At first I didn't know it would be so serious, but when I saw the marks on his neck my heart ached and worried that his cervical spine was injured. However he was lucky!"

Regarding the plot of the online public trial in the film, how would they face online criticism in real life? Jeffrey said that life was like a book that documented itself, with both advantages and disadvantages in it; when you discover a problem while reading, you should try to hard work and improve. After all self-examination would still be taken for granted, but those on the sidelines would have different views. Chu Jai pointed out that nowadays criticisms would be hard to avoid, the key lay in how to face negative voices -- if not handled well, it may cause more negative emotions; if it can be resolved, it can be transformed into positive energy. He stressed that since it would be inevitable, the only thing he could do was to control himself. Renci believed that any profession would be different strokes for different folks, handling all problems would be difficulty. We could only learn to coexist, because life still had to continue. Chu Jai also admitted that as an artist, he will inevitably be criticized, but he still could still accept it. "When I run into unhappiness, I would throw a tantrum at home and then I would be fine."

[2026.08.26] BUSAN FILM FESTIVAL SELECTS DEAD END FOR ITS VISION ASIA SECTTION

The Soi Cheang Pou Soi produced, Isabella Lam Lok Hin directed and written, Lokman Yeung, Hedwig Tam Sin Yin and Maggie Siu Mei Kei starred film DEAD END (BEI SAT DIK NA TIN) was selected for the 31st Busan International Film Festival's "Vision-Asia" competition section and would premiere at the film festival. DEAD END began with a case of family death that has been buried for years. Lokman Yeung suspected "mother" Siu Kei Kei had something to do with his father's fall to his death and started to investigate. He and Tam Sin Yin played couple, and PAPA's Best New Performer award winner Dylan So Man To played his half brother.

Lokman Yeung for the first time had film that was selected for a film festival competition, saying that his past films participated in film festival. "This time feels a little different, I look forward to it more. DEAD END is about letting go of the past, hopefully it would bring the audience to a different direction when faced with similar incidents. This time the role's past has affected him a lot, many deeply internal struggles had to rely on environment or interaction between co-stars to bring about. For me it is a challenge." Siu Mei Kei and Lokman Yeung played mother and son, revealing that the character was complicated. At first she found it hard to grasp, fortunately the producer and the director gave her the confidence and interacted as they shot. The production process was pleasant. Director Lam Lok Hin hoped that through the process of the character's search for truth, the audience would be taken to face those hidden or suppressed memories, examine how people find a way to co-exist with uncertainty and find a path forward.

Winner of the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Action Choreography award with TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING), the 55-year-old renowned Japanese martial arts action director Kenji Tanigaki posted several wedding photos on social media yesterday and announced his marriage to his ten-year girlfriend and Japanese actress Luna Fujimoto. Kenji Tanigaki commented, "It's been over 10 years since we met. We are not only each other's best friends, but also partners who inspire each other at work and even life partners who walk hand in hand. I hope to walk together with her for much longer than the past ten years. We sincerely thank everyone who has supported us so far, as well as everyone who has always cheered us on. Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai)'s two show first solo concert "MY FIRST SHOW" successfully concluded at the Hong Kong Coliseum the night before. The final show had guest stars Stephen Fung Tak Lun, Leo Ku Kui Ke, the Grasshoppers, etc. As soon as the final guest Andy Lau Tak Wah (Wah Jai) appeared, the entire HK Coliseum rocked. Goo Jai was particularly grateful for Wah Jai's encouragement, while Wah Jai said that the responsibility of supporting the future of Hong Kong entertainment will be his. Goo Jai gave two encore performances, with the song "Gor Gor" Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing sang when he left the music scene "Wind Rises Again" he brought the show to an end.

Koo Tin Lok had a lot of connections in the business. Goo Jai stood in the middle of the stage for a moment of silence and lamented, "In my life, in the industry for 33 years, as Cheung Kai Chung said, I work very hard on making movies and everything, the only thing I didn't do is sing. Now that I can perform at the Hong Kong Coliseum, it truly is a magical day. Usually I sit down like you or only be a guest, I never think that I would be on the stage. This stage is so familiar, I can be not too far from everyone. I am an actor, the boss of the film company, I never want to be a singer; but must be very close to everyone, because everyone's idea is the same -- it is to walk side by side." Then he sang "Walking Side By Side". Afterwards, he continued to speak from the heart, pointing out that he had to make a huge decision for this concert; it was for the audience to happily watch the show, like a happy party. Yet he was the most worried about dancing, so often whatever he thought he would find the choreographer at 3 or 4 in the morning. "The first time there must be a bad spots and wouldn't be perfect." Viewers shouted "The Best, Perfect", Goo Jai changed his tone and joked, "The first time definitely have its best spot, because of you!"

Then the Grasshoppers appeared with Goo Jai and sang, "Three Minutes of Indulgence", "Kiss of Red Lips", "Lose Yourself In Samba" and other fast songs, Remus Choy Yat Kit expressed his joy to witness Goo Jai's first concert, and asked him to sing more fast songs; Goo Jai gave special thanks to Calvin Choy Yat Chi for being his fitness coach, teaching him to work on thigh muscles so he would be able to dance even better. The Grasshoppers said that Goo Jai would perform in Macau at the end of the month, and promote their own October concert in Macao as well. They immediately invited Goo Jai to be a guest performer, and Goo Jai agreed right away.

When the finale guests were ready to appear, the music of "Stealing Fun Alone" arose and the crowd went into an uproar. Rising from the center were Lau Tak Wah and Goo Jai and cheers rose everywhere. They sang together and walked around the venue before returning to center stage. Wah Jai squatted and praised Goo Jai, "Top notch, let me enjoy it a little here first!" Goo Jai followed and they talked about their first collaboration in 1999 on the film CENTURY OF THE DRAGON (LUNG JOI BIN YUEN). Wah Jai remembered that he dyed his hair "blond" at that time, everyday when he got to the set he had to spray his hair before the shoot. Goo Jai started to have a hard time and joked, "Let's get up and talk more!" Wah Jai joked, "To be able to your first time I am very happy!" The crowd cracked up. Goo Jai thanked Wah Jai for often sending him text messages to encourage him, and said to Wah Jai. "You are the Big Brother in my heart!" Wah Jai joked that he did not want to admit that. "I am only a few years older than you!" Goo Jai changed his tone and said, "You are a contemporary who is a little older than me!" Wah Jai happily said, "I like what you just said, I represent Hong Kong entertainment scene in thanking you. I have a family, I am not taking as much risk as before. It's up to you!" Goo Jai said, "Then let's fight together!" Wah Jai agreed, "Just tell me when and I will be there."

Goo Jai after the long anticipated "Popular This Week" ended the show, but the audience still did not want to leave. Even Lai Goo and Suen Huen refused to leave as they kept waving the glow sticks. Goo Jai saw what was happening and came out for another encore, thanking the audience all around. He kept shaking his head and said that he did not know what else he could say. After silence he got a little choked up and said, "I wave everywhere, every visual of this moment I would always remember in my heart. I have never thought that I would actually be able to perform a concert, but today is already the last day. I really ant to use a song to express how I feel, one of Gor Gor's songs. Thank you everyone, thank you Gor Gor." He sang THE WIND RISES AGAIN and moved the entire audience.

Lam Fung and Wu Tsz Tung served as guests for Koo Tin Lok's concert for two consecutive nights. The night before was like the opening show, as they sang with Goo Jai the 3 songs that appeared in the film TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING): "Dancing Street", "Having Fun Is the Most Important" and "Monica". Lam Fung stated he has known Koo Tin Lok for more than 20 years, and hopd that this concert would be the beginning of his musical journey. He even jokingly asked whether he would go on tour, and quipped, "I have never seen him dance this much in my entire life."

In addition, the "Four Sons of the Walled City" Lam Fung, Wu Tsz Tung, Terrance Lau Chun Him and German Cheung Man Kit earlier worked on the film TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: THE FINAL CHAPTER (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI JUNG JEUNG). Lam Fung at Goo Jai's concert revealed that the film has been completed. Cheung Man Kit on the social network shared a photo of the four and linked Lam Fung's role "Chan Lok Kwan" and Lau Chun Him's role "Shun Yat" together. "Lok Shun Sei Sup Yi: the Final Chapter." With that he expressed that the film has already wrapped up production. In one of the photos the four were in a group hug as the fraternity was self-evident.
