Philip Ng reveals that Vanness Wu screams "Are you kidding?" after reading reports about him courtesy of on.cc
Philip Ng Wan Lung and former Hong Kong soccer players Leslie
George Santos and Au Wai Lun the night before went to enjoy the new
film PASS AND GOAL (YIK JUEN SEUNG BOON CHEUNG), and shared their
viewing experience after the show. Actors in the film Rachel Leung
Yung Ting, Peter Chan Charm Man and young actors also came to thank
the audience.
Mg Wan Lung praised PASS AND GOAL for being passionate and
inspirational, because he has always liked movies about sports and
played soccer in high school. Rarely had the opportunity to work
with young actors in past films, Ng Wan Lung laughed and said that
the one he has worked with most was probably "Fish Ball Girl" in
TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI). However
they have yet to share a scene. Once a elementary school teacher
before entering the industry, Ng Wan Lung said, "I have taught
children design, and been very popular with students. They would
also ask me to play soccer during breaks, maybe because my subject
is less stressful."
Speaking of Vannes Wu (Ng Kin Ho) being accused of sudden weight
loss, Ng Wan Lung as his friend told everyone not to worry. "Relax, he
is much bigger than me. His biceps are powerful, it's just a matter of
the angle in the photo." Ng Wan Lung said that after a friend forwarded
the relevant report to Ng Kin Ho, he was "furious" and wanted to
clarify. He said, "After reading it, he said, 'Are you kidding, I'm so
huge'. The next day he posted on social networks to clarify." Ng Wan
Lung said that he had dinner with Ng Kin Ho more than a month ago and
did not think anything unusual; he was also very healthy and preparing
for a concert.
Deliberating making the trip to thank the audience, Chan Charm
Man and Leung Yung Ting said that the movie would be released during
the Christmas period. They hoped that the audience would be able to
feel the joy and enthusiasm from the film and bring positive energy to
everyone. Although the strength of movie releases in the same period
is not bad, Chan Charm Man said that no comparison should be made
because everyone would have different genres. Leung Yung Ting also
left the box office to its own devices because actors would not be
able to control it. She would just look forward to thanking everyone
at the theater during Christmas. In the film Leung Yung Ting played
a mother. She laughed and said that fortunately other child actors
accepted her as an aunt and were willing to chat with her. They
also let her know about things that children were concerned about
now so she would not be out of touch.
Chen Charm Man served as a judge for a talent show, but was
criticized online for his poor comments and magnifying the small flaws
of the contestants. The comments have not upset Chan Charm Man, who
instead described it as a very wonderful journey. He said, "Actually
I have praised the contestants, but due to the limited length of the
program airing them all would be impossible. In addition I don't have
a social platform myself, so I didn't know people were putting me on
trial in public until my brother." Studied at the Performing Arts
Academy of Hong Kong, he admitted that the comments he received in
school were even harsher. His comments on the contestants were not
so lethal, but he would improve them in the future or smile more when
commenting.

The movie UNDER CURRENT (NOI MOK) has been released in Hong Kong
for a week, becoming the box office champion of Chinese films for seven
consecutive days. Director Alan Mak Siu Fai, producer Tin Kai Man,
actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing (Sing Sing), Alex Fong Chung Shun, Niki Chow
Lai Kei, etc. went to the theater yesterday to thank the audience.
Yesterday everyone had to visit 6 screenings in a row, which Sing Sing
still felt that were not enough. He joked that visiting 6 performances
were too few; of course the more the audiences met and thanked, the
better. As for Sing Sing's injury while filming an action scene, he
emphasized that he is used to hard work as an actor. He would not
complain at home as he would not want his family to worry.
Speaking of the good box office results of UNDER in Hong Kong,
Sing Sing and Fong Chung Shun thanked the audience for their support.
Sing Sing said that his hard work into performing the action scenes has
not been in vain and it would even be worth getting injured for. Sing
Sing Sing said that in the film he shot fight scenes for seven days in a
row, especially on the first day of work when he performed a 360 degree
mid air kick on wires. Because he and the stunt coordinator were very
demanding and he has never tried this stunt before, finally he took more
than ten takes to succeed and was hurt. "Because the waist pad was
out of place, my ribs were injured when hanging on wires. However the
overall situation was the main focus, so I had to endure it and continue
to work. I filmed for a week." In the film Sing Sing was also choked
by iron chains. He and German Cheung Man Kit were filming fight scenes
and were injured all over. Sing Sing replied, "We wouldn't talk about
it. We wouldn't say anything like 'Wow, it really hurts' when filming.
We wouldn't do it deliberately, no need to worry our families. We are
used to hard work as an actor." Has his wife already supported him? He
said that they would watch it together today, but he did not know which
theater he would see everyone. He would not wear a hat or disguise
himself, as they would go to the movies normally as a family. With
Christmas approaching, Sing Sing revealed that he was going to Chongqing
to hold a concert countdown. However he would have a rare day off on
Christmas, this year he added a daughter and the home became more lively
with three children. He laughed and said, "It's a home of Goddesses! I
will continue to dress up as Santa Claus and distribute gifts this
year!"
Fong Chung Shun might not take his wife Kayan Mok to watch the
movie, because his wife has been busy with business recently. She had
to fly to Beijing, leaving him to take care of his daughter. He also
believed that his daughter would not understand the film, so he had no
intention of taking her to see it. However his daughter has never seen
his treachery from the film at home. Speaking of director Mak Siu Fai's
optimism that he would win the Best Supporting Actor Award at the Hong
Kong Film Awards for his villainous role, Fong Chung Shun said that
every actor would do his best to play the role well, and he has also
done his duty. Sing Sing immediately said, "I too pick you to win!"
Fong Chung Shun said, "I have been acting for decades, let's see if fate
has come!"
Participated in UNDER CURRENT, Chow Lai Kei, Tong Yee and Chan
Kwok Bong were happy to learn that the movie was successful at the box
office. As for what benefits they would give to the audience, Tong Yee
smiled and said that it would depend on what "brother" and "sister"
would do and she would follow. Christmas is approaching, Chow Lai Kei
said that she would stay in Hong Kong to consume, which would also be a
simple meal with her family; Tong Yee revealed that her family of three
would too celebrate Christmas in Hong Kong, since her bakery business
would be busier during the holidays. Would her daughter help? She
joked that she could not employ child labor, but her daughter would
greet the guests.
In addition, speaking of Alex Fong Lik Sun (Siu Fong) becoming a
father and posting photos from his daughter's birth on social platforms,
his friend Chow Lai Kei laughed and pointed out that the baby girl looks
just like Siu Fong, the "female version Fong Lik Sun" who is very cute.
However she thought that the baby's appearance would change quickly,
usually the daughter would look like the father while the son would look
like the mother. Everyone joked that the daughter would be better off
resembling Mama. Chan Kwok Bong immediately laughed and said, "Chan
Chun (daughter) is like me, what's the problem? Even my wife says that,
haha!" Chow Lai Kei also smiled and said, "My son also looks like me,
but my husband denies it. However the child's appearance will change,
so Siu Fong doesn't have to worry." She also pointed out that she co-
starred with Siu Fong and Daniel Chan Hiu Tung in the drama FEEL 100%
(BAK FUN BAK GUM GOK), the leads of which have their own families and
children. Any reunion would depends on their schedules.
Louis Koo surprises Jessica Hester Hsuan with an unexpected pressure point attack courtesy of on.cc
Jessica Hester Hsuan is all smiles once in the arms of Louis Koo courtesy of on.cc
Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai), Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen)
and Raymond Lam Fung recently filmed a number of promotional videos for
the movie BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI), Goo Jai and Suen Huen
reenacted many classic scenes of the TV version, one of which was Goo
Jai opening his arms and gently embracing Suen Huen. Suen Huen smiled
very brightly throughout the whole process, and the super sweet
interaction evoked memories for many online.
The other scene was Goo Jai's "sudden attack" on Suen Huen. The
two stood behind Lam Fung for pictures. Suen Huen was waving her arms
and legs from excitement. Originally silently looking at her, Goo Jai
suddenly made a move and gently pressed his finger near her armpit and
and repeated the scene of pranking her in the TV version back then.
After the "attack" Suen Huen jumped in fright, then looked at Goo Jai
and laughed. Sitting in front, Lam Fung suddenly turned into
"Pedestrian A".
Francis Ng and Aaron Kwok talk about being parents courtesy of on.cc
The Hong Kong film industry winter has not yet thawed. In
addition with the Tai Po fire of the century tragedy two weeks ago,
many's desire to go to the movies has been reduced. Artists with
current releases including Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Carlos Chan Ka Lok
today would visit many cinemas to thank the audience in hopes of
"revitalizing" the box office.
The Best Actors Kwok Fu Sing and Francis Ng Chun Yu starred
UNDER CURRENT (NOI MOK), Carlos Chan Ka Lok and Fish Liew Chi Yu starred
SOMEONE LIKE ME (JEUNG NGOR JEH YEUNG DIK OI CHING) and the Louis Cheung
Kai Chung invested and starred GOLDEN BOY (GUM TUNG) have opened one
after another, but ran into the market downturn and suffered brutal
box office performance. Aside people gradually returned in recent
days, stars decided to launch their cinema visit mode and come in close
contact with the audience.
Reportedly, the Alan Mak Siu Fai directed Emperor Motion Picture
UNDER CURRENTLY since its release on the 6th this month has already
surprised HK$ 100 million on the first two days at the box office and
topped many film site charts. The director naturally hoped to maintain
the momentum and announced on social platforms that today he would lead
Sing Sing, Fong Chung Shun and other actors to visit 6 screenings at
cinemas in different districts of Hong Kong, Kowloon and New
Territories. Chan Ka Lok and Liew Chi Yu also would not miss out, as
they would appear at many cinemas today for SOMEONE and come in close
contact with fans. The latter even went to all 5 screenings to throw
herself into the promotion. However the hardest working had to be
Cheung Kai Chung. Since GOLDEN BOY's official release on the 21st of
last month, he has spent almost every day at the cinemas to thank the
audience and screenings numbered in dozens after dozens. Currently the
film has already exceeded HK$ 7 million at the box office.
The three actors of the movie UNDER CURRENT Kwok Fu Sing, Ng
Chun Yu, Fong Chung Shun and director Mak Siu Fai were interviewed by
the program STAR WEEKLY a few days ago. Sing Sing, Chun Yu and Fong
Chung Shun all showed their "house husbands" side.
Sing Sing shared the rumor of his weight being maintained around
62 kilograms over the years. He admitted that for many years, in order
to keep fit, he only ate an average of one and a half meals a day. Yet
for his three meals a day wife Moka Fang Yuan, he actually made a major
concession. He said, "As a husband and a father, I want to accompany
(my wife and children) them." Chun Yu personally responded whether his
son Feynman was truly a "Ng Chun Yu anti-fan". He laughed and said that
his son often took secret photos when he was not paying attention or
embarrassing himself, so he named his son as a "natural paparazzi". He
also had to be on guard for the long run, saying, "As soon as I saw that
he was intentionally not looking at me, I knew there would be a camera
pointed at me." Fong Chung Shun laughed and said that he was often
stumped by his wife Hoyan Mok and beloved daughter Fu Ka Ching's
"Daughter's Common Sense Quiz Competition". The tricky questions
included the size of the shoes his daughter wore, at what age she
started horse riding lessons, etc. He often answered incorrectly, which
made him dare not face reality for a while and also made his status at
home "inferior to cats and dogs". He also revealed that his wife
actually has ways to keep him on a short leash. Speaking of the
production, Sing Sing personally performed many fight scenes. In order
to keep from frightening co-star German Cheung Man Kit, he kept quiet
even when he had bruises all over from fighting.

Jacky Cai Jie would compete with Charmaine Sheh Sze Man for Best
Actress with the dramas PRISM BREAKER and QUEEN OF NEWS 2 at the TVB
Awards Ceremony, but she announced her "surrender" in advance. She
bluntly saying that the chance of winning the award is quite slim, and
she would also vote for "Sister Man" Sheh Sze Man.
Speaking of the film remake of the classic drama "MY DATE WITH
A VAMPIRE (NGOR WOR GEUNG SI YAU GOR YEUK WUI))", the movie MY DATE WITH
A VAMPIRE (KUI MOR LUNG JOOK MA SIU LING) was released a few days ago
but it was downgraded from a movie to an online feature and broadcast on
mainland platforms. Would she feel any regret? She said, "Actually we
don't care which platform it is broadcast on, the format everyone
received at the beginning was the length of the movie, and I have made
it like a movie. For me it doesn't matter, I don't feel particularly
sorry. I think the distribution has their own considerations. The most
important thing is that the finished product is released, and the more
audiences see it, the better."
Ling Man Lung, Chow Chi Yuet and Rachel Leung promote their new film together courtesy of on.cc
Ling Man Lung, Chow Chi Yuet and Rachel Leung promote their film PASS AND GOAL courtesy of mingpao.com
The Jill Wong Pak Kei directed, Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Peter Chan
Charm Man, Ling Man Lung, Rachel Leung Yung Ting, Tommy Chu Pak Hong,
Chan Hin Lok and a group of young soccer-loving actors Chow Kei Yuet,
Sahal Zaman (Lam Lok), Rondi Chan Lok Ting, Tam Chun Yin and Sin Cheuk
Kiu starred in this Christmas's most heartwarming comedy film PASS AND
GOAL (YIK SUEN SEUNG BOON CHEUNG). It will be released on December
25th. The film has tears within laughter. Ling Man Lung and Leung
Yung Ting both said that if they become parents, they would definitely
support their children to pursue their dreams.
Ling Man Lung played the rich kid Nip Yui Chi in the film. He
said with a smile, "Papa's expectations of him gradually turned into
disappointment, from 'Yui Chi' to 'something that sounds like it'
(intellectually challenged), and set off sparks with the comedy elder
Brother Fai Hung (Chan Fai Hung)." He added, "This work adds light
comedy elements, presenting it in a way that is ridiculous, satirical,
and the result is even more comedic." Ling Man Lung and Leung Yung Ting
also said that if they become parents, they would definitely support
their children in pursuing their dreams. Ling Man Lung shared, "When I
first entered the industry, many friends did not approve of it. However
I had already established my direction because acting is my passion. I
am still working hard in the industry, and I can explain it to my
parents, friends, and more importantly, myself."
Leung Yung Ting hoped to get along with the young actors.
During the filming, she specifically visited the set to watch the
young actors play soccer and try to integrate. She said, "This
challenge is not only acting but also capturing children's life senses,
which is a big test for me. This film is very suitable for the whole
family; not only telling the story of children, but also showing the
process of understanding between adults and children. Actually children
have their own dreams, and in the end, whether adults are willing to let
go, believe that children have the ability to pursue their dreams, no
matter how difficult the process is. This is a movie with laughter and
tears." She recalled her dream pursuit experience, "I faced a lot of
opposition when I was growing up, and I believe that I will become an
enlightened parent who knows how to let go and trust at the right time."
Playing an important role in the movie trailer, Chow Kei Yuet is
14 years old and an active Hong Kong U16 soccer team player currently
for United Citizens U15 and U18. She has won numerous awards in soccer,
including the 24/25 FA Cup Championship and the 24/25 U18 Women's League
Champion. "I want to become a professional soccer player and turn my
interest into a job," said Chi Yuet.
Director Wong Pak Kei revealed that making a film for the first
time, Chow Kei Yuet stood out from hundreds of auditioners; not only
because of her sweet appearance and superb skills, but also because of
her soccer dream. Kei Yuet said, "I was a little nervous about my first
time making a film, and the team arranged for acting instructors to
guide me. I was particularly nervous in front of the big stars in front
of the camera." She had a dispute with her on screen mother Leung Yung
Ting in the film, and the filming process was successfully completed.
Kei Yuet said with a smile, "Because I often have arguments with my
mother in real life, during the filming I just arguing like with my
mother normally. So I am not particularly nervous." She also revealed
that her father also plays soccer himself, and her parents have always
supported her in pursuing her dreams.
Louis Koo's character takes the story between ancient and modern times courtesy of on.cc
Would the Louis Koo played Hong Siu Lung be able to return to the modern times has become one of the foci of the film version.
Raymond Lam in the film BACK TO THE PAST continues to play King of Qin, Chiu Poon, causing a turbulent storm of unifying the world

The BACK TO THE PAST trailer has many action scenes

The Louis Koo Tin Lok, Tang Wai Min produced, Jack Ng Yiu Fai
and Lai Chun Lung directed, Koo Tin Lok, Raymond Lam Fung, Jessica
Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen), Sonija Kwok Sin Nei and Joyce Tang Lai Ming
starred BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI). The trailer and three new
ultimate posters were also officially announced yesterday.
In the trailer, all the characters familiar to the audience have
returned: Hong Siu Lung (Louis Koo Tin Lok), King of Qin Chiu Poon
(Raymond Lam Fung), Chun Ching (Sonija Kwok Sin Nei), Wu Ting Fong
(Jessica Hester Hsuan), Sin Yau (Joyce Tang Lai Ming), Tang Yik (Wong Man
Piu), "Chief To" To Fong (Jimmy Au Sui Wai) and Lee See (Power Chan Kwok
Pong), classic characters are on the same stage again after many years,
instantly evoking the collective memories of "Past Fans" over the
years.
The trailer takes Qin's destruction of the Six Kingdoms as an
introduction, Hong Siu Lung's peaceful life in seclusion in the
countryside collided again with Chiu Poon's unresolved power vortex. In
order to protect his home and loved ones, he was forced to re-enter
the world and be re-involved in the turbulent storm of King Qin's
unification of the world. In the face of many crises, would he truly
end his fateful feud with Chiu Poon? Would he successfully use the
time machine to return to modern times?
In addition to the shocking return of the original cast, a
number of new characters have also been added this time, and the first
to appear in the trailer is Hong Bowie, the son of Hong Siu Lung who
was still a child in the drama version and has now grown into a heroic
teenager - that is, the future well-known overlord of Western Chu,
Hong Yu (Kevin Chu Kam Yin), and the rest of the new characters will
also be announced, bringing even more surprises to the audience.
Following the two teaser posters released earlier, the three
ultimate posters released this time focus on Hong Siu Lung, King Qin
Chiu Poon and the core conflict between the two, showing the collision
of fate across time and space from different perspectives. The
"double version" poster features a group portrait of terracotta
warriors and horses and historical dust and sand as the visual tone,
with Hong Siu Lung and Chiu Poon standing side by side, symbolizing
the head-on collision between the two forces of "master-apprentice
dynamics" and "power struggle". Weapons, costumes, light and shadow
cross stitched a strong time and space tension, hinting that the two
had no way out.
The "Hong Siu Lung Edition" poster features Koo Tin Lok wearing
modern tactical equipment as the main body, creating a stark contrast
against the ancient background, highlighting his lonely retrograde and
destiny as a time traveler. The "King of Qin Edition" poster features
the King of Qin played by Lam Fung sitting upright and holding a long
sword in his hand, outlining the aura of a king and showing a sense of
oppression from the power of a young monarch to a emperor of a
generation. Each of the three posters has its own visual symbolism
and narrative meaning, kicking off the final showdown of the film.
The story tells the story of a wrongful imprisonment many
years ago, triggering a crisis that changed the fate of history. Ken
(Michael Miu Kiu Wai) vowed to travel back to the Qin Dynasty to
become king and make up for the life he lost due to wrongful
imprisonment. Although Hong Siu Lung (Koo Tin Lok) and his family
in the Qin Dynasty retreated to the countryside, their every move was
still seen by his apprentice King Qin (Lam Fung); Just when the King
of Qin thought he would unify the six kingdoms and dominate the world,
he encountered a surprise attack from the modern man Ken. He had to
find his master Hong Siu Lung, whom he respected and feared. After
20 years the master and the apprentice met again. The appearance of
Ken also bound the fate of the three of them. Storm rose again in the
Qin Dynasty as relationships must come to an end.
Louis Cheung returns to the cinemas and brings the audience positive energy courtesy of on.cc
The Louis Cheung Kai Chung starred movie "GOLDEN BOY" (GUM UNG)
has been released for nearly 3 weeks since it opened on November 21st,
with a box office of more than HK$ 7 million. The audience appreciation
activities that were halted earlier due to the tragic fire resumed
recently. Ah Chung reappeared in the theater the day before yesterday
and talked to the audience about the feelings of being accused of being
the "Jinxed King" due to the recent suspension of the promotion of the
new film and the burning of the new drama location. He said, "I think
many things we run into in life are meaningless, and it is best to be
meaningless so we can give meaning to them ourselves. The greatest
power of people is choice. You can choose how you look at it, and I
think everything should be viewed with the most positive mindset. I
don't feel like I'm very jinxed because I get many words of
encouragement, and many people would care about me and be more tense
than me. Also, in the current movie market you still walk in to the
theater to watch the movie, I am very grateful. So don't worry about
me, I don't feel like I'm jinxed, I feel very lucky." After Ah Chung
finished speaking, he received applause from the audience to cheer him
up.

[ 2025 FANTASTIC FEST ]
Within the opening moments of NJO Kui Ying’s visually arresting debut
feature, a visceral fistfight breaks out on the top floor of a Hong
Kong city tram. Bodies hang precariously from the windows in a tangle
of flesh and blood that soon leaves one man dead, while the other
coolly walks away, shrugging off just another day in the life of a
trained assassin. Known only as No. 4, this bleach-blond, stone-faced
killer soon finds himself in Japan, where a seemingly straightforward
assignment quickly spirals into a breathless game of cat-and-mouse
with the Yakuza's deadliest foot soldiers.
No. 4's client, a young woman with a personal vendetta against the
city’s most notorious crime syndicate, ropes him into becoming her
unwitting accomplice in a game of revenge that leaves them both out of
their depth with a bounty on their heads. As their relationship
evolves from professional to personal, they are left with no choice
but to fight side by side if they are to survive the next 72 desperate
hours.
Wearing his influences proudly on his sleeve, first-time director NJO
steers a classic gun-toting tale of heroic bloodshed into a head-on
collision with a sleek, katana-wielding crime story of honour,
betrayal, camaraderie, and vengeance. Drenched in neon and buffed to a
shimmering polish, ROAD TO VENDETTA owes an inescapable debt to the
works of John Woo, Johnnie To, Kinji Fukasaku, and Takashi Miike, even
as it doffs its cap to the Hollywood homages—from KILL BILL to JOHN
WICK—that have forged this path ahead of it. The result is a composed
and enthralling calling card from an emerging new talent, paired with
an agile, unflinching leading man, who together make an unstoppable
pair. (JAMES MARSH)

The world of Kabuki, the elaborately stylised, male Japanese
theatrical tradition, is the setting for director Lee Sang-il's epic
melodrama of artistic ambition, rivalry and betrayal. It is an
adaptation of a bestseller by Shuichi Yoshida, and weaves in stunning
stagings of classic Kabuki tales that wowed audiences at Cannes
Directors' Fortnight. In 1960s Nagasaki, after the death of his yakuza
father, gifted teenager Kikuo is taken under the wing of famed Kabuki
actor Hanjiro Hanai, even though the great performer already has a

The Bosco Wong Chung Chak and Jacky Cai Jie starred film MY DATE
WITH A VAMPIRE (KUI MOR LUNG JOOK MA SIU LING) would be a remake of the
classic drama MY DATE WITH A VAMPIRE (NGOR WOR GEUNG SI YAU GOR YEUK
WUI). Although the movie has abandoned a theatrical release and would
only air on mainland platforms, the two leads viewed it positively,
believing that it is not a bad thing. They look forward to more viewers
being able to see it and having more clicks.
The Joey Man Yee Man, Eric Wan Tin Chiu and Kristy Yang Kung Yu
starred ATV drama "MY DATE WITH A VAMPIRE" was very popular when it was
broadcast in 1998. It was still a classic in the minds of many
audiences after many years. The producer and screenwriter of this
drama, Man Yee Man's husband Robert Chan Sap Sam earlier served as the
producer, screenwriter and director of the movie remake starring Wong Chung Chak , Cai Jie, Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau), Fish Liew
Chi Yu and Tommy Chu Pak Hong. The film title was MY DATE WIth A
VAMPIRE (KUI MOR LUNG JOOK MA SIU LING), which would premiere on a film
and television platform tomorrow.
During the production supposedly because Chan Sap Sam was making
a movie for the first time, he was strict and meticulous about every
shot and delayed the filming schedule. Not only the actor schedules
could not match, but also due to over budget issues the film was once
rumored to be stillborn. After many twists and turns, the film has been
completed but suddenly gave up on a theatrical release. Instead it
would air on a mainland platform, because few are going to the theater
to watch the movie and the box office has been impacted. After
investor calculations, they felt that screening it on platforms would
be more advantageous.
The movie trailer was released online yesterday. Earlier
rumored to guest star, the soul character of the drama version "Ma Siu
Ling" Joey Man Yi Man appeared but only as "a pair of eyes". Many
online were still greatly surprised. The Kristy Yang Kung Yu played
"Wang Chun Chun" is now played by Cai Jie, who also appeared with
glasses. As for the protagonist "Fong Tin Yau", Bosco had action
series galore in the film. In the behind-the-scenes film he even
showed his partner how to spin the gun, and was very skillful.
Bosco was sked if he had been practicing the gun spinning for a
long time. He laughed and said, "We grew up learning these moves from
watching Chow Yun Fat's movies! I have filmed so many episodes of
"FLYING TIGER" and I often have to hold a gun; not to mention now, I
don't know how many times I have tried it when I was a child. Practice
makes perfect!" Speaking of the current change of movies from theaters
to platforms, he said, "Of course I would be happy about a theatrical
release, but it's out of my hands! The times are changing, and now
platform broadcasting is a general trend; which is not a bad thing.
Platforms come in touch with more layers, in Hong Kong the cinema
admission rate has been less. There are advantages and disadvantages,
I hope there will be good results in terms of clicks. Everyone has
worked so hard, I want more people to see it."
In an interview Cai Jie was asked if she would be disappointed
that the movie would not be released in theaters. She said, "I am
looking forward to it no matter what platform it is broadcast on, it is
still a movie that the entire film put a lot of effort into and it is a
classic in my heart. The "MY DATE WITH A VAMPIRE" series is my memory
growing up, it's irreplaceable. It is an honor just to be a part of it!
This version is quite different from the drama version, but it is just
as touching. I hope everyone can leave a comment and talk about it
together after watching it."
Alan Mak praises Alex Fong Chung Shun's explosive performance in UNDER CURRENT

The movie UNDER CURRENT (NOI MOK) starred Aaron Kwok Fu Sing
(Sing Sing), Francis Ng Chun Yu, Simon Yam Tak Wah and Alex Fong
Chung Shun. The most surprising for director Alan Mak Siu Fai was Fong
Chung Shun's explosive performance. Without any strong competition, the
"Best Supporting Actor" at the next Hong Kong Film Awards should be in
his pocket. In the face of the current cold winter of film and
television, Mak Siu Fai called for the implementation of the inspection
system. He suggested that the Hong Kong Film Censorship Authority or
the South China Film Bureau should assume the responsibility for
approval, so that Cantonese versions of films would be able to directly
enter the mainland market, expand the audience base, and relax the
restrictions on subjects. Fong Chung Shun hoped that Hong Kong films
would improve quickly and lead the movie trend again.
Fong Chung Shun and director Mak Siu Fai have been working
together for many years. The two became acquainted in 1994 through the
movie LOVE RECIPE (OI CHING SIK HEUNG MEI), and then the Mak Siu Fai
directed OVERHEARD (SIT TING FUNG WAN) film series all had Fong Chung
Shun's performance. Even this time Fong Chung Shun did not hesitate to
take the role.
Fong Chung Shun said with a smile that the character's "greed
for money" was very three-dimensional. "Playing the bad guy isn't bad.
The range of interpretation can be greater. With a good director, a
good script and good handling, the villain can also be very
outstanding." Would he become addicted to playing a villain? He
laughed and said that it would depends on the director and script, but
he has absolute trust in Mak Siu Fai. Mak Siu Fai said with a smile,
"Just as I trust him, his performance is very explosively this time.
I am waiting for him to win the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Supporting
Actor. He just made the eligibility for this year and should have few
opponents." Fong Chung Shun replied with a smile, "Now I don't chase
awards, after being nominated many times it's something to be happy
about. An award would be a bonus."
Mak Siu Fai over the years has become known for crime films. He
said that in recent years no one has robbed banks and gold shops. They
were caught on the day after the crime. Now they are all phone fraud
cases and money laundering, but the bank account transfer scene and
even opening an offshore company has no "action" scene. He did not
find the dramatic tension until he found that money laundering could be
done through non-profit organizations, and anonymous cash donations
could be used for laundering. Then he confirmed to make this story.
In this film the Sing Sing played lawyer grew up in an
orphanage, started taekwondo in elementary school, and returned to the
orphanage to teach taekwondo when he grew up. Thus he was arranged to
have a series of action scenes in the film. Mak Siu Fai stressed that
action scenes were all arranged reasonably. At the end of the movie,
Kwok Fu Sing and Ng Chun Yu faced Cheung Man Kit. Mak Siu Fai pointed
out that the filming was not difficult, but the preliminary preparation
time was long. Now filming action scenes emphasizes safety, and actors
are no longer required to "risk their lives" as before.
However Brother Wah had a hanging scene in the film. Brother
Wah described that he could have used a stand-in to perform it, but he
still performed it in person. Yet after filming he felt it was too
dangerous and would not dare to try it again. Fortunately at the time
director Mak Siu Fai yelled cut in time. Mak Siu Fai explained that this
scene originally could not use a stunt double. He expressed that he has
filmed similar scenes in the past and never asked the actors to really
"hang". He would definitely put a table below for the actors to stand
firmly on. Everyone else would adjust and the shoot would definitely
take place under safe conditions. He recalled that when he was an
assistant director on the Joe Ma Wai Ho directed LAWYER LAWYER (SUEN
SEI CHO), when filming Eric Kot Man Fai's torture by the hanging the
actor pressed the rope hard, accidentally pressed the carotid artery
and fainted for a while. Fortunately he was rescued in time. Since
then he has been extra cautious with such scenes.
When filming Brother Wah's scene this time, Mak Siu Fai has
arranged for a high table and stunt team to be ready in advance and
told Brother Wah not to press the rope. However Brother Wah still used
too much force in pursuit of the effect. "As soon as he closed his
eyes, I immediately yelled cut and asked the stunt team to pick him up.
Brother Wah fainted and was unconscious for a short time like a second
or two. When he woke up, we asked him what he has just done. I
understood that he wanted the result to be more realistic so he did
that." Mak Siu Fai said that fortunately the footage could be used and
no reshoot was needed.
Sing Sing in one scene was also chained and hung in mid-air,
and Mak Siu Fai said that he has used multiple wires to ensure Sing
Sing's safety. Fong Chung Shun joked that he was glad that he did not
have to shoot action scenes, but in a scene where he was hit by a car;
he had to sit in a roller-shaped carriage and rotate 360 degrees.
After turning three or four times he was in rough shape but
fortunately he was not hurt. However the cinematographer accidently
bumped his head.
The film UNDER CURRENT was completed over two years ago but only
released now, Mak Siu Fai admitted that the film was shot near the end
of the pandemic. At the time everyone still had to wear masks.
Reportedly the investor Emperor Motion Pictures originally hoped for a
simultaneous release in the mainland. After discussing with mainland
investors, he felt that the reputation and box office trend of Hong Kong
films in the mainland were weak at that time. So he decided not to
release it for the time being, hoping to accumulate word-of-mouth after
a period of time and then find a more suitable schedule. He agreed that
there was no need to crowd into Christmas or Lunar New Year with
blockbusters for any unnecessary "fighting". Now without any
competition before Christmas but with plenty of theaters, the film was
finally release after more than two years. The delay had nothing to do
with the mainland approval, because the film has already been submitted
for review and obtained the dragon seal (film release license). Hence
this was the direction decided by the market. Yet the current Hong Kong
film market has also been sluggish. He saw that among this year's Hong
Kong films, this film has the cast and story structure of the heyday of
Hong Kong films. "At such a bad time I don't think I can save the
market, but I hope it is a shot in the arm. I hope that the audience
will go to the theater to watch the movie, at least this type of Hong
Kong film is still viable."
The Hong Kong Film Awards Association's chairman Derek Yee Tung
Sing said that despite the sluggish film market, this year still had
more than 40 Hong Kong films and sufficient quantities for nominations.
Yet he was already worried that the production of Hong Kong films will
continue to shrink in the future, and the Hong Kong Film Awards will
have difficulty going further. Mak Siu Fai admitted that this situation
"would inevitably happen". If funds would continue to be invested
without return, investment would naturally shrink. He said, "Whether
the Hong Kong Film Awards would have an award or not is another matter,
the current number of films productions is difficult to support the
entire industry. Many people have been forced to change careers." He
thought that this really needed further consideration.
In order to revitalize the industry, Mak Siu Fai put forward two
suggestions: first was to implement the inspection system. The Closer
Economic Partnership Accord has already allowed the Cantonese version of
Hong Kong films to be released in the Greater Bay Area, but since the
inspection system has not been implemented, he recommended for the Hong
Kong Film Censorship Authority or the South China Film Bureau take on
the responsibility of approval, so that Cantonese versions of films
would be able to directly enter the mainland market and expand the
audience base; the second was to relax the subject matter restrictions
to train directors to master the rhythm, atmosphere and technology to
support the development of the entire industry. If filming can be
opened, it would help restore the diversity and competitiveness of Hong
Kong films. He emphasized that policy support was the key, otherwise
the number of Hong Kong-produced films will continue to decline and the
industry will be difficult to sustain.
Fong Chung Shun also lamented that Hong Kong films are currently
in a low ebb, but an era must begin to change. "After filming for more
than 30 years, Hong Kong films used to be sold to Taiwan and South Korea
in the past and were in a leading position. Now instead Korean films
are very strong, and it is another era. I hope that Hong Kong films
would adapt quickly and improve quickly to lead the movies trend again!"

Maggie Li, John Chiang and Wu Fung show their support for the Louis Cheung starred GOLDEN BOY courtesy of mingpao.com
Louis Cheung Kai Chung (Ah Chung) recently attended the movie
GOLDEN BOY (GUM TUNG)'s audience appreciation screening and received
support from a group of seniors including Bowie Wu Fung, John Chiang Dai
Wai and his wife Maggie Li Lin Lin. When Ah Chung learned that Chiang
Dai Wai was the first actor to make a boxing film since the opening of
Hong Kong, he joked that everyone actually has been plagiarizing from
the elder. He also asked him on the spot if he ate steamed chicken
breast and worked out, Chiang Dai Wai said bluntly, "Where would we
learn so much from back then? We just fight, fight and fight! Do you
even have to eat chicken breast? We had drumsticks!" The audience
cracked up.
The Cheung Kai Chung starred film GOLDEN BOY opened on November
21st, and he and his wife Kay Tse On Kay have been working hard on
promotion and thanking the audience. After the Tai Po Wang Fuk Court
level five fire on November 26th, the promotional activities came to a
halt. In addition before marriage Tse On Kay lived at Wang Fuk Court.
She lost her former classmate and neighbor and has been in a solemn
mood. Ah Chung would resume the audience appreciation activity today
and tomorrow. He bluntly said that he still had many souvenirs at home,
so he really wanted to thank the audience and meet the viewers again.
As for the GOLDEN BOY's box office that has exceeded HK$ 7 million, he
said, "This road is really not easy, I hope we can walk together without
complaints or regrets!"

Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun played the leading role for the first time
in the movie ROAD TO VENDETTA (SAT SAU #4), wielding knives and guns
and showing off his skills. He did not dare to take the baton as a new
generation of action stars, admitting that he has become addicted to
making fight scenes, and looked forward to more opportunities to make
action movies in the future. Struggling to survive in the adverse
market, Ngai Chun Sun said that he was willing to fight, had no idol
baggage, would not mind showing his rear, and emphasized that he was not
a rich kid like his friend Tyson Yoshi (Cheng Chun Yin) said. He would
not dare to spend his savings indiscriminately for next year's album,
thank his manager girlfriend Evelyn for fighting alongside him and
praised her as the perfect lover.
Ngai Chun Sun played the role of a killer in ROAD TO VENDETTA
(SAT SAU #4) and worked happily with Japanese actors Sara Minami, Naoto
Takenaka, child actor Yurito Mori nd others. Aside from appreciating
elder Naoto Takenaka's performance of long dialogue in a singing tone
to elevate the "drama" flavor, he was also unrestricted by the language
barrier with lead actress Sara Minami and had surprising chemistry. He
praised first time director Leung Kui Ying for directing boldly and
unconventionally, saying that he was very pleased with the results of
the new film. He had no regrets as he already has done his duty. He
would leave the result for Heaven to arrange, and had no box office
pressure. "I passed 3 auditions for this opportunity to perform, I am
very happy to show my serious, dark and steady side with the killer
role. Different from my past righteous youth roles, I see it as a
milestone in my film career."
Ngai Chun Sun spent 8 months training in martial arts, shooting
guns and swordsmanship. He lost 17 pounds to be in shape, so he was
even more handy in shooting action scenes. "Fighting in the narrow
space of the tram carriage is a big challenge, the most memorable is the
sword fighting against a group of enemies. The on and off camera staff
were highly coordinated, getting the shot in one straight take within 3
hours. The satisfaction was great. Because a katana required a gentle
touch to be wielded freely, it really stumped me! when a prop katana
hit a finger in the winter, it hurt a lot. In contrast, gunfight shoots
were not as difficult since I had some experience." Earlier when he
shot for another film a wake surfing scene, his neck was injured from
being strangled on a rope and took a month to recover before work
resumed. He admitted that he reshot the water skiing action, he kept
looking at the direction of the boarding rope and spent half a day to
overcome the trauma. Now he would pay more attention to the safety
measures at work. "I am addicted to filming action movies. I think
it's fun. I have trained a foundation of martial arts and I am no
longer afraid. Earlier when working on a new drama some simpler stunts
became easier, and the stunt team were at ease and let me fight."
Ngai Chun Sun said that he did not dare to take the baton as a
new generation of action stars, but he was consciously willing to fight.
"Now the economic environment is poor. I don't know how many movies
would start production. I am willing to audition for any opportunity,
as I think it is training. Of course I am eager to cooperate with
different seniors, because I have liked to watch action movies since I
was a child; such as Hollywood superstar Dwight Johnson's movies,
(Stephen) Chow Sing Chi's SHAOLIN SOCCER, (Nicholas) Tse Ting Fung's
INVISIBLE TARGET (NAM YI BOON SIK), (Donnie) Yen Chi Tan's SPL (SAT POR
LONG) and FLASH POINT (DOH FOR SIN), etc., are very exciting and sharp.
I trained my fists and kicks with my uncle, who was a black belt in
karate, until I learned Muay Thai to strengthen my body at the age of
16."
Talented and handsome, Ngai Chun Sun said that he had no idol
baggage and did not mind cooperating with the killer character to speak
foul language, "To be honest, everyone knows foul language. It depends
on how you present it. Using foul language during interviews is
inappropriate, it doesn't matter though while you chat with old friends.
just say it when you need to when you act." Would he be okay with
nudity during filming? He said that he had no problem. "I can even
show my rear. As long as the plot is suitable, anything is fine. I
have to accept different performances as an actor." Would his manager
girlfriend Evelyn oppose filming intimate scenes? He said, "No, we are
very dedicated and professional in our work, and we don't need her to
approve the filming of intimate scenes. She wouldn't need to approve
intimate scenes. She would ask me to watch more movies for reference."
Ngai Chun Sun's development in the film industry coincided with
the cold winter period of films, would he feel that he was born at the
wrong time? He lamented that being an actor was very passive. "You can
still pay to make songs and music videos yourself, but film is too
expensive; so you can only wait for the audition." Tyson Yoshi earlier
revealed that he was very wealthy as he worked out at the gym with
famous brands. Ngai Chun Sun said with a smile, "He's a bad boy,
spewing nonsense! He is really rich. I have to invite him to watch the
movie, lobby him to be the investor, and invest in a movie for me."
After 5 years in the industry, Ngai Chun Sun said that he has
saved up for a rainy day, daily living would not be a problem but he
would not dare to spend his savings indiscriminately. "I am not good at
making other investments. I will focus on artist work to find a way. I
plan to release a new album that would include 8 to 10 songs next year.
It costs 6 figures to make a song, all by self-financing." He was
grateful to his manager girlfriend for accompanying him and working
hard, praising her as a perfect lover. "She is great, dedicating her
time and effort to work and me."
Andrew Lau was the 12th National Paralympic Games and the 9th Special Olympic Games opening ceremony director. The event was cancelled due to the Tai Po Wang Fuk Court fire, which was regrettable but he understood. courtesy of mingpao.com
The opening ceremony of the 12th National Paralympic Games
and the 9th Special Olympics, originally scheduled to be held on
December 8th, was temporarily canceled due to the fire incident in
Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po. The event's chief director Andrew Lau Wai
Keung recently appeared on a RTHK program, spoke of the
cancellation of this performance that has been prepared for nearly
half a year. He also revealed that after returning to Hong Kong
from Guangzhou, he went to Wang Fu Court to mourn the victims as
soon as possible.
This Sunday is the polling day for the Legislative Council
general election. Lau Wai Keung hoped that the new term of Members
would monitor the government's policies fairly and impartially, and pay
attention to livelihood issues such as prices, the elderly and students.
He also pointed out that the local film industry is facing many
challenges, especially in the complicated procedures for applying for
the Film Development Fund, and hopes that the relevant policies can be
relaxed. He suggested that the funding mechanism should be more
flexible, such as allowing development fees to be approved first, so
that creators have room to polish their scripts and reduce pressure.
"Not everyone has an office, many people can only write scripts in tea
restaurants, but even a cup of milk tea costs more than HK$ 20."
When asked when he would return to Hong Kong to make movies,
Lau Wai Keung said that he is currently reading a number of scripts
and hoped to support the new generation of directors by serving as
a producer. He said, "Don't say that Hong Kong films have declined
anymore. Actually many filmmakers are still sticking to their positions,
especially young directors." He also encouraged juniors to start as
screenwriters or other positions and gradually accumulate experience.
The Derek Yee produced, Nick Cheuk directed TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGE won the 60th Golden Horse Awards Best New Director in 2023 courtesy of mingpao.com
The the Best New Director at the 60th Golden Horse
Awards in Taiwan for TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI)
Nick Cheuk Yik Him, the film's producer Derek Yee Tung Sing, and the
company of which they are directors of, Roundtable Pictures Limited,
recently filed a lawsuit with the High Court against the film and
television company MM2 Studios Hong Kong Limited (MM2 Studios Hong
Kong Limited) and alleged that the other party violated the
distribution agreement and demanded compensation of about HK$ 3.65
million, as well as at least about HK$ 420,000 in interest.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff is Roundtable Pictures
Limited and the defendant is mm2 Studios Hong Kong Limited. The
plaintiff claims that the defendant has breached the "International
Multiple Rights Distribution Agreement" that has established on February
15th, 2022. The plaintiff demanded compensation of about $3.65 million,
interest of about $420,000 and accumulated interest until the court
judgment or the defendant paid the money, as well as the payment of
legal costs and other costs.
According to the Companies Registry, the two directors of
Roundtable Pictures Limited are directors Derek Yee Tung Sing and Nick
Cheuk Yik Him. According to the website of mm2 Hong Kong Limited, the
company provides film production, production and distribution services,
including the Hong Kong marketing and global distribution of TIME STILL
TURNS THE PAGES.
Cheuk Yik Him said that the HK$ 3.65 million was the income that
was to be paid according to a contract signed between MM2 and their
company. A little money was paid in the early stage but not after that.
After collection the amount was still not yet received, thus they took
legal action. Cheuk said that as the film owners, TIME STILL TURNS THE
PAGES received a filming budget of HK$ 3.25 million from the "First
Feature Film Initiative". It was completed because some actors and
staff chose dividends, in the end it fortunately made money. As the
film owners, it was their responsibility to distribute the money to
shareholders. The company could only pay dividends if it has income;
but when the money has no received, the biggest trouble for him was
that he has broken his promise and affected his reputation, and felt
heartbroken. In addition, the producer of TIME STILL TURNS THE
PAGES Yee Tung Sing said that the incident has been brewing for a while.
Finally legal action was taken because the film participated in the
"First Feature Film Initiative" that involved public money, so the
amount should be clear. Director Cheuk Yik Him has explained the
development of the matter to the relevant departments. The rumor in the
industry has been that they have not yet paid dividends despite the high
box office, so it was necessary to make the incident public to correct
the situation.
For his first lead role, Jeffrey Ngai hopes to show everyone a different side
In order to get into the character, Jeffrey Ngai has put in a lot of hard work courtesy of on.cc
Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun played the role of Killer No. 4 in
a mysterious organization in the movie ROAD TO VENDETTA (SAT SAU #4)
for his first lead. Jeffrey said that after three auditions
beforehand, he also did his homework and watched many related movies
for reference; among which the movie "The Godfather" left him with
the deepest impression. "Even if he sits here, he doesn't need to be
deliberately fierce. Just one look would be a kind of intimidation.
I really want to put that in the role of 'No. 4'."
Despite his mild mannered nice guy image, his character often
had to smoke and use foul language. He also observed pedestrians on
the streets. In order to create the impression of a killer, Jeffery
lost 8 kilograms through diet and exercise before filming from 74
kilograms to 66 kilograms. He got up in the morning and ran for two
hours, did muscle training exercises for two hours in the evening,
and fasted after 6 p.m. The whole process lasted for half a year.
Jeffery said, "I remember when I dropped to my thinnest I looked a
little haggard. Many friends at the awards ceremony reminded me,
'Is there something wrong with your body?' They didn't know that I
was going to play a killer. I didn't say much, I just said that I
was staying in shape." Jeffrey admitted that the director did not
ask him to lose weight. The director also trusted him very much,
letting him define the role. In addition to losing weight and
exercising muscles, he would also magnify his serious and calm
personality by 100 times in the role. Jeffrey said with a smile,
"Because I have been playing this role for too long, I became quieter
and kept to myself. I used to be in a hurry and didn't spend a lot
of time to think, but now I feel that being serious and calm would be
a comfortable way of doing things."
Jeffrey has many action scenes in the film. He had to undergo
wrestling, shooting, katana and other action training before filming
started, and he said that it was a lot of fun. Was he injured? He
admitted that he would not pay attention. "I'm not afraid of getting
hurt. I wouldn't care, if seen on camera it would be very obvious, so
I would shoot as soon as I became familiar with moves and took my place.
If I got hit by someone it would be due to a bad memory. After I got
hit I haven't been hurt during the filming."
Playing the leading role for the first time, Jeffrey admitted
that he had no box office pressure because it was not something he could
control. He believed that as the actor as long as he did his job, he
would leave the result to Heaven.
Earlier he revealed that he had Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHA), Jeffrey pointed out that before he realized that he had
the disorder he was already used to rehearsing once after reading the
script. Hence he did not need to memorize the lines. Now if he knew he
would be interviewed he would take the medication in advance so his
answers would be clearer. "The doctor says that actually the case is
very minor, the medication improves the focus."
With a romance with Japanese star Sara Minami in the film,
Jeffrey in real life is very much in love with his girlfriend. Once
declared that he would wed at age 30, when would he get married? He
stated that the plan has never changed, but he hoped that everyone would
leave these sweet affairs to them. He would share any good news they
would have. He also revealed that he would picture his next
generation. "I thought it was pretty happy and felt pretty complete.
(Have you thought of how you would propose?) I have run it a few times
in my mid. (Do you know how your girlfriend would like the proposal to
be like?) I don't need to, I would casually pick a pretty surprise for
her."
Louis Cheung has put in a lot of blood and energy into making GOLDEN BOY, unfortunately its box office is not as expected
BACK TO THE PAST has been rumored to open soon, but no promotional activity has been seen yet courtesy of on.cc
Recently many events have been postponed or canceled due to the
fire. The movie GOLDEN BOY (GUM TUNG) has not been promoted recently,
and its box office trend has slowed down a lot compared to before. Some
online were heartbroken over Louis Cheung Kai Chung spending all his effort
and money so this movie would be release, yet the film unfortunately
ran into a decline. As for the end of the year release BACK TO THE
PAST (CHUM CHU GEI), it has also not been promoted recently and even
caused controversy. Its box office result might cause concern for some.
The fire in Tai Po has caused many people to lose their homes,
and the people of Hong Kong have reached out to help the victims tide
over the difficulties through various channels. More than a week has
passed since the fire broke out, and many events have been postponed or
even canceled. They included the movie "GOLDEN BOY", which had a
premiere before the fire and was gaining momentum at the box office.
The "GOLD" lead actor Cheung Kai Chung trained hard for the
movie, during the filming he ended up injuries galore from the fights.
Finally he waited for a full 6 years due to financial problems, and had
to pay 6 figures to wrap up production before arranging for the official
release of the movie. A group of his friends in the circle such as Nick
Cheung Ka Fai and Kenny Kwan Chi Bun worked hard on publicity last
month, which gave GOLD a decent box office trend. It has soared to 200
on the 3rd day of release, but then a fire broke out in Tai Po and the
audience was no longer in the mood to watch movies. Coupled with the
lack of publicity, the box office was greatly impacted. As of the day
before yesterday, the film only collected nearly 6 million at the box
office and the trend slowed down a lot. Some online were heartbroken by
Cheung Kai Chung's experience, but he maintained positive energy from
having seen all kinds of weather before. He personally replied to the
comment, "Stay Positive."
As for the movie that has been said to be released at the end of
the year, BACK TO THE PAST has launched many AI promotional videos
earlier. However since the launch of the movie pilot poster on the 26th
of last month, no further publicity has been done. The official release
date has not been officially announced so far. At the same time,
recently because he poster had the name of mainland actress Bai Baihe
listed ahead of the drama version lead actress Jessica Hester Hsuan
(Suen Huen), a lot of controversy ensued. Bai Baihe's role has been
rumored to be bigger than Suen Huen's and Sonija Kwok Sin Nei's. Many
online worried that the gossip with the lack of publicity would affect
BACK's box office performance.
Actually two schools of voices have already appeared in Hong
Kong recently. Some online believed that no celebration should be held
for Christmas, New Year's Day and even the Lunar New Year, calling for
the money to be used for disaster relief; but some have raised
objections, believing that society should gradually return to normal and
return to daily life. Once all Christmas and New Year activities would
be cancelled, many would be without job and their livelihoods would be
affected. Some online further pointed out that the Hong Kong film
industry has been very weak, with the total box office revenue of
Chinese and foreign films in the first half of this year being more than
HK$ 560 million -- down about 16.26% from the same period last year.
Among them only 4 Hong Kong films have grossed more than 10 million at
the box office, including two Lunar New Year films HIT N FUN (LUM SI
KUET DUN) and MY BEST BET (CHEUNG DOH BIT YANG). If the market would
remain depressed, it would only add to the trouble the film industry
has been in and many filmmakers would have an even harder time of
finding their way out.

Francis Ng Chun Yu and Aaron Kwok Fu Sing collaborated again
after 25 years on the Alan Mak Siu Fai directed Emperor Motion Picture
UNDER CURRENT (NOI MOK). This time Chun Yu played an extraordinary
policeman, while Sing Sing played a intelligent and brave lawyer. They
became involved in a showdown between good and evil between lawyers
and police and bandits.
Chun Yu worked with Sing Sing again after many years. He
laughed and said that because he has not participated in director Mak
Siu Fai's work for a long time. He joked that he was not an official
actor of any director. With the filming taking place around the
epidemic, he just participated in this film in order to avoid going
back and forth between the mainland and Hong Kong and having to be
quarantined and observed. Chun Yu understood that the film market is
sluggish now, and being able to start production on a Hong Kong film
was already rare. He too hoped to make a little more, but he smiled
bitterly, "My personality is that I don't like to socialize, I enjoy
being alone. Although I can talk to a few directors, but I wouldn't
be any official actor. Sometimes when I see them talking closely I am
rather envious. The ones I am the closest to in the business like Wong
Tze Wah and Lau Ching Wan, I might only see them once in three years."
Playing a cop in the film, Chun Yu admitted that he was not a
role model. Because the character had many extra gestures, it violated
his past acting principals. a He said: "Director Mak Siu Fai gave me
a lot of freedom, encouraged me to do it. Although there was a few
stunts, they were indeed reasonable for this role. I even got a perm
for the role, because I am used to (meeting) with the director's
requirements." Speaking of the interaction between actors and
directors, Chun Yu said with a smile that they were like in a tug of
war. "Sometimes I would scare the director, sometimes the director
would scare me. This time I did whatever the director wanted me to do,
if I couldn't hand in my homework I would look weak."
Regarding the fact that many new directors have joined the film
industry in recent years, Chun Yu also hoped to work with them and said
that he would give confidence to the new directors. He said with a
smile, "New directors can't be contradicted, don't 'stun' them as soon
as they come out; let them make their own mistakes. In addition film
must also have a new experience, let's check out the new director's use
of cameras." Chun Yu also said that he would challenge dangerous stunts
depending on the situation, but the first condition was his face must be
seen on camera; otherwise the personal performance would be meaningless.
As for working with Sing Sing again after 25 years and he has
already become a father, Chun Yu said that this time he and Sing Sing
had more dramatic scenes, and felt like they were telling the story
together. He said, "This time I met a real actor, Sing Sing himself is
already a good actor. He is more mature than before, for the role to
gain weight and grow a belly. He worked on action scenes without
hesitation, very clear on every detail and requirements."
