Nick Cheung Ka Fai would hold a series of three shows for the first time at the Hong Kong Coliseum on the first to third day of the Lunar New Year (February 6th to 8th, 2027). A large-scale entertainment performance that would combine "comedy, song and dance", "THE CHACHAFAI SHOW" would celebrate the Year of the Sheep with the audience in Hong Kong.
In honor of the event, Cheung Ka Fai earlier "led" his classic role, including UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN)'S "Scum Fai", PEG O' MY HEART (SHOOK MUNG)'s "Choi Sun Keung", THE CON MAN (DOH HUP 1999)'s "Fa Gwut Lung", GOLDEN CHICKENSSS (GUM GAISSS)'s "Brother Gordon" and KEEPER OF DARKNESS (TOR DEI KUI MOR YUN)'s "Fat Jai", to brave the rain and storm the Hong Kong Coliseum for a promotional video. During the shoot Cheung Ka Fai was in great shape, "transformed into character" in a flash, brought back classic dialogue, pulled the audience back to the light and shadow memories of many classic works and was bound to set off the city's "memory kill" during the Lunar New Year.
Speaking of the idea of the Hong Kong Coliseum show, Cheung Ka Fai admitted that he has never had a "singer dream" but the stage has brought him an unexpected opportunity. He said, "I hope it won't be just a concert. In other words, I won't be able to present the content in the form of a concert." He announced that there would be a surprise comedy performance. There would also be a special ingenuity in the stage effects and performance arrangement, hoping to combine "comedy, song, and dance" to bring a joyous New Year to the audience .
How did he feel about showing off classic characters from his many years in film? Cheung Ka Fai smiled and said, "Of course I have special intents, I am looking forward to it myself. I hope to bring you some surprises, as well as some memories of Cheung Ka Fai's past roles. What would the audience think when they see this show? You really have to wait until the show is born to find out."
Cheung Ka Fai earlier while promoting his film GOOD TRIP (NGOR AH DEH SEUNG LUI HUNG) once promised that he would perform a concert if he could get 100,000 likes online. Then he changed his mind and said that he had to consult his manager first, and changed the subject to open a cafe, invest 200,000 to 300,000 on a sequel to GOOD TRIP or a musical film. Later he was rumored to truly be planning to fulfill his Hong Kong Coliseum dream. At the time his manager responded, "An announcement would be made later, please look forward to it."
Cheung Ka Fai once made the jump from film and television to music. Aside from releasing a record, he even won the Ultimate Male Singer Gold Prize award in 2000. His hits included ABLE TO LOVE, SUBCONSCIOUS, and RATHER GIVE MYSELF THE MOST HEARTBROKEN. He also often sang in his films, including a parody of Leon Lai Ming's EYES WANT A VACATION in CONMAN IN TOKYO (JUNG WA DOH HUP), in HE IS MY ENEMY, PARTNER AND FATHER-IN-LAW (FA GWUT LUNG YU CHIN NIN CHUNG) he and Danny Lee Sau Yin went to a karaoke box to sing BEYOND's GRAY TRACK (FUI SIK GWAI JIK), and playing "Fa Gwut Lung" again in THE CONMAN and singing Andy Lau Tak Wah's classic hit right in front of him. He even made the "Lau Wah" pose for Lau Tak Wah after the song. Cheung Ka Fai last year sang the theme song PERMANENT INSOMNIA (WING YUEN DIK SUT MIN) for his film PEG O' MY HEART (SHOOK MUNG).
