The Pang Ho Cheung directed film ABERDEEN (HEUNG GONG JAI) yesterday held a press conference in Beijing. Aside from the director, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Gigi Leung Wing Kei and Jacky Cai Jie also attended. The director was asked why he did not permit Goo Jai to play handsome in the film. He said, "Because Koo Tin Lok himself is already too handsome, I hope his performance in the film can have a different feel than normal and thus I tried to tone him down a little." Unfortunately, the director's Putonghua was less than fluent as he made "Koo Tin Lok originally is too handsome" sound like "Koo Tin Lok originally is already too bad". Leung Wing Kei could not help but laugh and finally the host had to deliver the correct pronunciation. Goo Jai said that he never thought that he was handsome. He did not know why the director had to deliberately adjust.

Speaking of Mainland internet users' demands for Chapman To Man Chak to be removed from the new film due to his comments or they would boycott the film, would the director support Ah Jat? Pang Ho Cheung said, "This movie isn't just the effort of me alone, the cast and the crew have all put into an effort. I have already prepared for five years, in hopes of the story to be more complete and preserve the meaning of the story. I suggested that if internet users don't like to watch a certain actor's performance, they can cover their eyes for a minute when that actor appears and let the film pass." He immediately covered his face with a fan and made the entire venue laugh.

Pang Ho Cheung yesterday also issued a statement with the title "So Messy That You No Longer Remember, At first Why You Started". He reiterated that this film was not his own effort, but it was also Koo Tin Lok, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Leung Wing Kei, Eric Tsang Chi Wai and other actors and the crew's effort.

The statement said, "Recently I saw some online comments. An internet user has opinions about an actor's recent comments. This actor in this film guest starred in one scene. I am a film director, before I yell cut, the lines that the actors say pass when I say they pass; yet after I yell cut, an actor in life returns to himself. I cannot influence him." He also pointed out, "For a creator, the work is the starting point as well as the destination. I respect everyone's freedom of expression and at the same time not harming the innocent. This is the reunion that I, the cast and the crew would like to see."

ATV's all new program I LOVE AFTERNOON TEA yesterday premiered. The hosts Kiwi Yuen Kit Yi and Danny Choi Chi Ming along with guests Yeung Yuk Mui, Susan Shaw Yam Yam, Baby Po Pui Yu and Wong Siu Foon as well as a group of Hong Kong Women Development Association watched the premiere at a Tsim Sha Tsui restaurant while having tea.

Sister Yam Yam revealed that she has been invited to participate in the Derek Kwok Chi Kin and Pang Ho Cheung starred new film. Reportedly the investment would reach 130 million yuan RMB and Chapman To Man Chak would direct. However the details had to be kept confidential and she did not know the production start date yet. Speaking of the recent Mainland online boycott against Ah Jat, she said that Ah Jat should answer this question. She said, "Often when you speak you don't mean what we say, but 'going all out' to scold is truly meaningless. You can't turn back anyway. A filmmaker only wants to make good movies that would endure. In addition everyone's biggest boss is the audience, we deserved to get scolding from the audience. When people worship you you don't thank them, so you have to let go and have a heart of gratitude. That comment is for Ah Jat."

Raymond Wong Pak Ming's new artist Janelle Sing Kwan yesterday attended the UNICEF Nothing But Nets fund raising launch. Sing Kwan's new film THE Z STORM (Z FUNG BO) will open in June. Now she is busy with its promotion. In the film she played an Independent Commission Against Corruption investigator and worked with Louis Koo Tin Lok and Gordon Lam Ka Tung. Working with Goo Jai for the first time, she was asked if she fell under Goo Jai's spell. She said that earlier she has seen Goo Jai's movies, but he was truly very handsome in real life and was nice. During the shoot he often treated everyone to snacks. Unfortunately the new film mainly was about the fight against corruption, she and Goo Jai had no romantic scene. They could only work together on an investigation.

[2014.05.05] NG MAN TAT FINDS BED SCENES WITH CARRIE NG TO BE VERY AWKWARD

courtesy of mingpao.com

Ng Man Tat recently spoke with TVB StarTalk about his return to Hong Kong film ABERDEEN (HEUNG GONG JAI). He admitted that at first when he got the script he thought the story was very outdated. Yet after the production it was not as outdated as he has imagined, in fact it was rather refreshing. Brother Tat was the happiest about running into former co-star Carrie Ng Ka Lai again. "We have worked together many times, Ka Lai played my mistress every time. This time was no exception. She was an 'old hand'." He and Ka Lai had to shoot a bed scene as soon as they met, Brother Tat admitted that the script originally did not have the bed scene. He thanked the director for adding the scene for him.

Brother Tat recently had health problems. He explained that because he promoted more he felt a little tired. Has his family told him to rest more? Brother Tat said, "No, rest for what? As long as I am not old, my mind hasn't regressed, my health is OK I can continue to act. Even at age 70 and 80, this business still has age 70 and 80 characters that I can play. Of course they can't be too hard." He valued family heavily, but because of work he had to sacrifice his time with his family. Thus every night after work he would fight for time to eat with his family and chat. For his child, Brother Tat also tried to learn to use facebook. In the end he thought it was too much trouble and he could not learn it, making calls was still the best. Now his family lives in Malaysia. As soon as he has time he would go and be with them.

Brother Tat has been in film for years, his most representative work should be his comedy movies with Stephen Chow Sing Chi. Yet he joked, "Maybe I will still have a second spring and a third spring." As for his relationship with Sing Yeh, Brother Tat said that when they saw each other they would have a laugh, but lately they truly rarely saw each other. Because Sing Yeh was very busy as a company CEO, he sometimes would be in Beijing and sometimes in Shanghai, Singapore and Malaysia. They had no time to meet.

Brother Tat also spoke up for Sing Yeh. "Many people have different criticism of him. Actually he is very normal. Maybe he grew up in a single parent family he was more mature in many areas. He was very protective of himself and would not have heart to heart contact with new friends." Because Sing Yeh now mostly worked behind the scene, it would depend on fate whether they would work together again.

Michael Hui Koon Man, Wong Cho Nam, Ivana Wong Yuen Chi and Jacquelin Chong Si Man two nights ago attended the film DELETE MY LOVE (DELETE OI YUN) premiere. Cho Nam brought his girlfriend Leanne Li Yanan and even posed for photos with her and his onscreen girlfriend Wong Yuen Chi.

Speaking the film right being sold to Hollywood, Cho Nam said that he has learned that it was sold for over US$500,000 and congratulated director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum); however the sale did not man that he would work in Hollywood, he hoped that the boss would add a condition for him to play Pedestrian A. However his girlfriend Yanan broke out of Hong Kong before he did. Earlier she made a foreign film and had a few lines. Unfortunately she had to be blindfolded in her performance.

Wong Yuen Chi also knew about the sale. If it truly was made into a foreign film, she would like Robert DeNiro to play Hui Moon Man's character, Brad Pitt to play Cho Nam's character while she remained the lead actress. She happily said, "During the production I never expected such good news. (Are you worried about comparison?) I am not worried because they definitely will have differences. Everyone's culture and languages are different."

Chong Si Man celebrated her birthday earlier. She posted photos of flowers and ring online. She admitted that this year she received many thoughtful gifts but she did not know why so many people knew her address to send flowers directly there. As for the ring, she truly was very surprised because she knew it was out of stock. The size was just right too. She also said that normally she would not feel anyone who gave rings had any motive, but this time her acceptance did not represent that she accepted his pursuit. The ring was not a couple proposal ring. It was nothing special but she would definitely give him a higher score.

In addition, Hui Koon Man during the shoot was rumored to be at odds with Yip Lim Sum due to his numerous requests and had many scenes cut out. He denied that he and the director were at odds, saying that he was not used to the promotional method. Now actors have to promote and attend audience appreciation events. Although they felt strange, he did not mind. He already has been to Beijing and Guangzhou for audience appreciation. He said that in the old days they snuck into a screening for audience appreciation, now they directly watch for reaction in the open. Will he work with the director again? He said that with a good story he will not mind and praised that this was a special director. As for if his scenes have been cut, he said that his role was minor and he has not seen the film yet. Thus he was not sure.

Artist Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam and Universe's contract dispute remains unresolved. Although yesterday was the final day of Kong Yeuk Lam's ten year collaboration with Universe, their relationship has worsen due to the lack of resolution to the contract terms. Earlier Universe issued a legal letter and documents that included a Wilson Chin Kwok Wai directed film LAT GAING BA WONG FA (HOT INSPECTOR WEARS SKIRTS) contract and a contract documentation to Kong Yeuk Lam. It stated that if she refused to sign, Universe has the right to seek reparation for damages that she has caused the company.

The deadline ended yesterday. Universe executive Alvin Lam Siu Keung said, "Kong Yeuk Lam did not sign the film contract. In addition, she has completed the first 10 years of her jobs but insisted that she did not need to follow through with the remaining 5 years. Obviously she is violating the contract! Now we are handing the matter to the lawyers, if we need to go to court we will sue to the end. Everyone has to respect the spirit of the contract!" Reportedly the 5 year contract violation amount involved 8 figures. Lam Siu Keung said, "I have no comment, everything is in the lawyers' hands." When asked about any new development with her relationship with the company the same response was given.

LAT director Chin Kwok Wai admitted that Kong Yeuk Lam's refusal to make the film was quite a headache. He said, "However she isn't as damaging as the (DaDa) Chen Jing incident, back then DaDa suddenly vanished. This time we have a back up plan. Aside from Kong Yeuk Lam, we have other famous female stars. They just haven't been revealed yet, an announcement will be made later. We still have a month before production, now the script is being improved upon." LAT producer Charlie Wong Wing Fung said that the relationship with Universe has always been good. The incident would not affect it and he would not ask Universe for compensation. "It is regrettable that we won't be able to use the company's artist. I hope next time we will be able to work together again. Actually the film has many independent characters. Additional actors in the future may be second choices."

Soon to work on the film LAT GAING BA WONG FA, Eliza Sam Lai Heung regretted that Kong Yeuk Lam has decided to resign from the film. She revealed that in her impression Elanne was a professional actress and would perform from a character direction. She even said, "I really respect this type of actors. Originally I was thinking about learning from her. I hope to have other opportunities to later! I am not sure about her dispute with the company, so I would just focus on the training." Co-star Jeana Ho Pui Yu did not receive any news but also expressed regret about Elanne's resignation.

Heung Heung yesterday attended a French culture event and revealed that she will have to fight in LAT. Thus she was working out and having abs was her goal. Would she display her result in swimsuits? Heung Heung said, "I am more conservative. I can appreciate other people's bodies but I am too shy about myself."

Having been quiet in Hong Kong entertainment, Theresa Fu Wing switched to the Mainland market and made two films and three television series. In the middle of this month she will work on a new series in Shanghai. Theresa yesterday said, "My Filmko contract ended at the end of March. We agreed to have an amicable resolution to the contract, and gave each other hugs as we left." She stressed that she had a pleasant collaboration with Filmko and they were still in touch. She will attend a Filmko party in Beijing in April even though her contract has ended.

Theresa was described as out of options when she wanted to "enemy" Ronald Cheng Chung Kei for help, she said, "The article got one thing right, I am not as much as homebody as I used to. Now I would have dinner with friends more. It's not about asking for help."

Earlier Theresa guest starred in Cheng Chung Kei and director Gordon Chan Ka Seung's new film. She said, "Ronald, Chan Ka Seung and I have worked together on two films before. We stayed in touch. Chan Ka Seung called me to have fun for a few days." She described her rumor with Mainland star Fu Xinbo as nonsense. "We are friends, we work together all the time but we are just friends."
