The 39th Hong Kong International Film Festival will take place between March 23 and April 6. Famous director, producer and actress Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga) has been selected to be this year's Filmmaker In Focus, as 13 of Cheung Ngai Ga's films will be screened during the film festival, including her latest film MURMUR OF THE HEART (LIM LIM) and her past films QUEEN OF TEMPLE STREET, TEMPTING HEART, and 20 30 40. Viewers will be able to relive Cheung Ngai Ga's creative film career. Cheung Ngai Ga will also attend a forum on April 5th to share her unique perspective on film, art and life.

The Emperor Group two nights ago held the 2015 Emperor Group annual gala and the Emperor Entertainment Emperor Motion Picture 15th Anniversary celebration. Its artists like Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Joey Yung Cho Yi, Twins' Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Irene Wan Bik Ha, Ocean Hai attended. Ge You, Natasha Na Ying, Zhang Yibai, Snow Zou, Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Lin Peng came to congratulate them. Emperor Group chair Albert Yeung Sau Sing, executives Ng Yu, Elaine Fok Man Hei, Albert Lee and others attended as well. Jackie Chan, Li Bingbing, Fan Bingbing also sent congratulatory videos.

Emperor top star Yung Cho Yi performed the film BUT ALWAYS theme song LET US KEEP GOING and THIS CLOSE THAT FAR. Joey got teary eyed when the screen showed every one of Joey's record covers. That night, Emperor Motion Picture CEO Albert Lee announced the establishment of Emperor Dadi Distribution company. Many all new 2015 Emperor Motion Picture film projects were announced. TWO THUMBS UP (CHUNG FUNG CHEH) was Hong Kong director Lau Ho Leung directed, Tam Yiu Man, Ng Chun Yu, Simon Yam Tat Wa and Leo Ku Kui Ke starred. OI JOI SUM CHAU (LOVE IN DEEP AUTUMN) starred Wan Bik Ha and Tam Yiu Man. Wan Bik Ha would be a producer and screen writer for the first time on the film as well, TO THE FORE (POR FUNG) has already been scheduled for a 2015 summer release. The film was Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed, Eddie Peng Yu-Yen, Shawn Dou Xiao, Wang Luodan and Choi Si-Won starred.

Aside from records, films and television, Emperor Entertainment also produced variety programs like CHEF NIC. Ting Fung two nights ago talked about the CHEF NIC program production. "It was fine but it could be even better." Ting Fung also announced the second season of CHEF NIC was under preparation, but the details had to remain under wraps.

As for Emperor, Ting Fung said that he was not much of a speaker but since age 15 he has followed "Boss Yeung" and experienced his most rebellious time. Now he will soon be 35 and he thanks Boss Yeung. Mani, Yung Cho Yi, Twins have all been with Emperor for almost 20 years, thus Ting Fung said, "I can represent all the siblings in saying, whether it will be 25 or 35 years, we will be around. Thank you Boss Yeung!" Then he gave a deep bow.

Edmond Leung Hong Man yesterday morning appeared in a senior Lunar New Year visit event. He not only gave away lucky bags but also bought 400 soup bags for the elderly. Two nights ago Edmond was Miriam Yeung Chin Wa's concert guest. He only slept for two hours because after getting home he had to watch a soccer match.

Speaking of Chin Wa's interest in a concert with Edmond and Eason Chan Yik Shun, Edmond said that actually they wanted to work on a comedy together. Boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok knew about it but he did not know if it was confirmed. He said that the film will be titled 30% STORY (SAM SING GOO SI), in which the three leads would only do 30% in anything. He continued, they have known each other for years from the Capital Artists era to now, but they rarely worked together. At most they would be each other's concert guests.

As for a concert together, Edmond said that most fans grew up with their songs. If they did they would definitely bring back a lot of beautiful memories. In the Lunar New Year he will team with William So Wing Hong to perform in the U.S.; then he will go on vacation with his brothers and mother. Edmond said, "The six of us will go a cold place, my wife and my brother's girlfriend will go. I look forward to it very much because we haven't never done it before."

[2015.02.02] CHOW YUN FAT GETS ALL THE ATTENTION IN HIS FIGHT WITH KEN LOW

With only two weeks from the Lunar New Year, the Lunar New Year films are already ready at the gate. After the Sandra Ng Kwan Yu led film 12 GOLDEN DUCKS (12 GUM NGAP) revealed that it invested HK$ 300,00 on a Lunar New Year Fair stall, the Chow Yun Fat, Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Carina Lau Ka Ling starred FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 2 (DOH SING FUNG WON II) also joined the fray. Recently it revealed its ultimate trailer online, in which the film took to the air, land and sea with great explosions.

The trailer was around a minute long. Aside from Fat Gor's topless fight with Ken Low Wai Kwong, it also focused on his A BETTER TOMORROW dual gun wielding heroics. In one scene Fat Gor was on a plane that had an explosion, but he held on with his bare hands like James Bond. The film company in order to make Fat Gor's onscreen image stand out got a robot to be Fat Gor's butler. For realism, the film was still working on its final special effects.

As for Fat Gor's fight with Low Wai Kwong in front of Ka Ling, because he had to be topless Fat Gor also worked out before hand. During the shoot he also learned from and discussed with Low Wai Kwong, but Fat Gor was still stressed. He said, "I haven't been topless in front of the camera for a long time, so it took more effort. I got a trainer to help me get bigger. After four months I lost 30 pounds, but I couldn't be muscular all over." Although Fat Gor was not pleased with his shape, his co-star Ka Ling said that he looked sharp and was quite attractive.

As for Fat Gor's performance, Low Wai Kwong said, "I was very happy to get a beating from Fat Gor. He specifically asked the director for me to be his opponent. As a fan I of course was happy. Fat Gor was an elder and very agile. The scene took three days. He was very professional and got into great shape. He was firm all over!"
