Sunbeam Theatre has brought back the Saturday late night show from now until June 28. The first Saturday screening will be the Ronny Yu Yun Tai directed, Edward Lee Kui Ming written, Raymond Wong Pak Ming and Chow Yun Fat starred Cinema City film THE OCCUPANT (LING HEI BIK YUN). The current Sunbeam president Lee Kui Ming even invited Yu Yun Tai to return from Australia. Also on hand were Wong Pak Ming, the film theme song EVERY NIGHT ENTANGLEMENT performer and actress Kitman Mak. They shared experience from the film. Kitman Mak even performed the theme song.

Yu Yun Tai said that he came back for Lee Kui Ming and would leave Hong Kong in days. The film was shot in 1984 and is 30 years old. He joked that back then he did not work much, Wong Pak Ming asked him to direct. Wong Pak Ming also stated that he asked Yu Yun Tai because he was "very available". As for Chow Yun Fat, because at the time Fat Gor was known as the box office poison everyone was worried that he would drag down the film. Even for the film's Taiwan release, the distributor asked for Fat Gor's image to be placed at the bottom of the poster. In the end the film made over HK$10 million. Fat Gor thus erased his box office poison name and began to rise.

Lee Kui Ming said that back then he and Karl Maka studied Vajrayana and came up with this story. He spent one night to finish the script. Later the script went to Wong Pak Ming, who did not made much changes before agreeing to make it. He thus through this film began to take a place among the numerous Cinema City screen writers. For this screening, he originally contacted many people to attend but they did not have time. Although everyone now can watch the film online at anytime, going to the movies was another experience. Thus Sunbeam tried to bring back the late show of yesteryear and ticket prices will be HK$20 to attract more viewers.

Yu Yun Tai on this trip to Hong Kong also discussed film projects with Wong Pak Ming. He stated that with the right script and cast he would return to film. Otherwise he would stay in Australia.

The Wilson Chin Kwok Wai directed new film LAT GAING BA WONG FA (HOT INSPECTOR WEARS SKIRTS) yesterday held a press conference in Malaysia with him, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, Eliza Sam Lai Heung, Jeana Ho Pui Yu, Jacquelin Chong Si Man, Chris Tong Bingyu and others. Yun Yi stated that she has completely given up on losing weight. She said, "Fat doesn't mean ugly, think doesn't mean pretty either. The most important is being healthy. The society has just made up its mind about fat people as failures, I hope through this film let others know that I can and at the same time give fat people a chance." Yun Yi is responsible for the comedy in the film. Her character would be similar to Sandra Ng Kwan Yu's in the original INSPECTOR WEARS SKIRT (BA WONG FA) film series. Just from her shape alone people knew that she would have some special stunts. She said that at first she pounded her chest and took the role confidently. She did not expect that once the training began she had a very hard time. Yet in the process she also learned a lot. She has known Chin Kwok Wai since she was little and they often saw each other at her home. She was very happy to work together for the first time.

For her first film lead, Sam Lai Heung felt that she could play the role well. An earlier series accumulated her knowledge of the Special Duties Unit. This time she tried the zip line from above challenge and only needed to appear in one pretty take. The media asked if she stole Christine Kuo's workload, she said not to believe untrue reports. The company scheduled their events. Playing a couple with Malaysian actress Cathryn Lee, Philip Ng Won Lung was asked why he did not recommend rumored girlfriend Linda Chung Ka Yun for the role. Was he afraid that she would get hurt? He said that he would be happy to work with anyone. Ka Yun would decide her own roles and he would not be concerned.

In the film, Jeana with more kicking scenes earlier trained until she sprained her left leg. The master immediately treated her wound. Jeana afterward performed with an injury professionally to avoid affecting the shoot progress.

Heung Heung had a mosquito bite on her left cheek and next day at work it was swollen. She immediately said to Director Chin that she was "afraid she was not pretty enough". He joked, "Don't worry, your apple muscle is so swollen you don't need botox!" Because this time they had to be in the water and train, Director Chin revealed that the ladies were very nervous about their physical condition. "They can't fast, but they are also afraid that they would get fat if they eat. The girls are pretty conflicted."

[2014.05.26] CHAPMAN TO DENIES SHOW BUSINESS RETIREMENT RUMOR

courtesy of mingpao.com

Chapman To Man Chak earlier faced boycott after an online war of words with Mainlanders, many of his films were affected at the box office; some even claimed that his films had to be postponed indefinitely. Other films would replace him with other actors. In this sensitive period, yesterday he suddenly had to bid a "farewell for now" to his newspaper column. Due to personal reasons he had to be overseas for awhile, he also said, "even if I make more money, I cannot buy myself". Thus speculations of him temporary leaving Hong Kong show business arose. Ah Jat explained that only because he took a month off he could not write the column. He was not retreating from show business due to negative news.

Ah Jat stressed that rumors have not affected his on screen development. He joked, "I have been in this business for several decades, if I don't act what else can I do? I of course have to entertain viewers, why would I retreat from show business due to negative news. Do you think I am DaDa (Chan Jing)?" His hiatus from his newspaper column was due to his vacation in the U.S. with his wife. Ah Jat said, "Every June I would take a holiday in the U.S. for a month. My mentor has a Buddhism school in the U.S. so I would go and meditate, listen to lectures, this year is already the 6th year I am doing this. It has nothing to do with rumors." Did he reduce Mainland film contract due to the gossips? He said, "Thank you everyone for your concern, I rarely go to the Mainland to make movies so I am not too affected." He said that he will star in two Chan Hing Ka produced Hong Kong comedy films and will finish producing the Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin starred film CHOR GEI (CHILD PROSTITUTE) after the holiday.

His Emperor manager Mani Fok Man Hei denied the rumor that boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing would remove Ah Jat from the producer credit to keep him from affecting CHOR GEI's Mainland release.

While Ah Jat faced a Mainland online boycott, Mainland actors he was familiar with and has worked with like Cecilia Liu Shishi and Wen Zhang were affected as well as they reportedly would be boycotted. Many online supported them as innocent and should not be swept into the storm.

The 33 year old Dennis To Yu Hang "fought" into show business due to his master Sin Kwok Lam and played "Ip Man". However some said that because he let stardom go to his head as he compared himself to Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Donnie Yen Chi Tan, he stated that he wanted to terminate his contract with his company. Sin Kwok Lam was disappointed and his wife was enraged! Reportedly the company already signed a new 5 year contract in March with To Yu Hang, if he wanted to terminate the contract he would have to make compensation. However To Yu Hang did not have a cent to him. His girlfriend even vanished from the social scene supposedly due to financial trouble and planned to get her boyfriend into SPL 2 (SAT POR LONG 2), making him Yen Chi Tan's successor and her the second Cissy Wang.

Some said that To Yu Hang was acting like a "big shot" and was demanding; selective with his roles and turning down roles due to lack of screen time and stars; lazy, Sin Kwok Lam asked him to improve himself but the advice fell on deaf ears; turning down jobs, since he thought that martial art performance was like the circus he stated that he would never perform martial art publicly again; ungrateful as he felt that he deserved brand name clothing, assistant, business class flights and other benefits from Sin Kwok Lam; and finally the biggest taboo in martial arts, after eight years under Sin Kwok Lam he instead called Sammo Hung Kam Bo his master. Those in the know said, "He thinks he is such a big deal, he takes advice from his girlfriend and even turns down television series. He says it was cheap!"

Turning down jobs to no job, To Yu Hang moved from a big home to a small home. His girlfriend even sold her car online and walked like it was for exercise. They even ate more ordinarily, sharing clothing and drinks. Yesterday To Yu Hang was asked if he wanted to start his own company. He said, "I don't know how to answer that." As for his romance, he said, "She is just a friend, nothing special." When asked about his relationship with Sin Kwok Lam, he immediately clammed up. "I am busy, let me call you back." Sin Kwok Lam was asked about this. "I don't want to comment so much, ultimately I taught him." He also denied to revealed To Yu Hang's contract problem due to privacy.
