Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung are best remembered for ROUGE courtesy of mingpao.com |
In 2003 Heavenly King Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing and Heavenly Queen Anita Mui Yim Fong both passed away. This year is the 10th anniversary of their passing. At the 32nd Hong Kong Film Award on Saturday, these two superstars of a generation will be remembered in a segment as Anthony Wong Yiu Ming will perform their many classic film songs to remember this great pair of onscreen couple.
Aside from remembering Gor Gor, the award show will also have the in memoriam segment, with the orchestra playing film songs to salute the 28 artists and filmmakers who have passed away this year. They included Jacqueline Law Wai Guen, Austin Wai Tin Chi and Kong Ngai. The 32nd Hong Kong Film Award program also had a chapter on Cheung Kwok Wing and Mui Yim Fong. Their friend Stanley Kwam Kam Peng wrote in memory and appreciation of them, as he recalled that back then although Gor Gor and Sister Mui belonged to different film companies, Sister Mui was willing to work with the other company in exchange for Gor Gor to play "Sap Yi Siu" and enabled the perfect pair in ROUGE (YIN JI KAU).
