Martial art star Gordon Liu (Lau Ka Fai) suffered hemiplegia on the left side of his body after a stroke 3 years ago. His money trouble with his former assistant ended up in court, after 16 months he finally got back 1.2 million RMB. When he learned that his son was on the female assistant's side he would inevitably feel heart broken and disappointed. His friends Amy Fan Yik Man and Wong Hei in order to cheer him up earlier took him for tea and his favorite roast goose leg. Once hospitalized for discomfort Master Lau showed his strong side and he still gave a high thumbs up to the camera despite not feeling well. His unwavering spirit truly was admirable!

The 58 year old Lau Ka Fai's lawsuit against his former assistant Eva Fung Ying Wa was scheduled for a hearing last Tuesday (April 29th). Before the hearing Fung Ying Wa returned around 1.2 million RMB to Lau Ka Fai as they agreed to settle out of court. That day Lau Ka Fai's son Sin Chun Lung also appeared in court and reportedly sided with the former assistant. As Lau Ka Fai's custodian Fan Yik Man did not dare to tell the Master the truth, but when he spoke with a fellow resident at the nursing home the he found out. Due to his illness his mood fluctuated drastically everyday. He was even more heart broken when his son turned against him. Master Lau gorged on food as an emotional release, because he overate he got sick and sent to the emergency room. At the time Amy promised Master Lau, after his hospital release she would take him and his friend at the nursing home to Stanley for tea. Master Lau did not disappoint and was released after one night.

Amy fulfilled her promise, earlier (May 4th) she and Wong Hei took Master Lau to Chung's Cuisine in Stanley for tea. Gathering with friends, Master Lau was in a decent mood and full of smile. He could not hide his excitement at the restaurant, like a child he asked for soft drink and his favorite roast goose leg. Every few bites his friends would attentively pick his teeth for him to keep food from being stuck in them.

After half a hour Master Lau began to feel dizzy. His friends got nervous and to be safe Amy and Wong Hei decided to send him to the hospital. After over a hour at the hospital the Master was immediately release. Wong Hei helped him into the vehicle. Amy asked him to raise a victory sign to show that he was fine, but Master Lau only looked at the reporters' cameras. After getting into the vehicle he finally gave a high thumbs up and waved to reporters.

Amy said, "After his nausea Master's blood pressure was on the high side. The doctor gave him some blood pressure medicine, how much depended on his body's response. Originally the doctor suggested for him to stay at the hospital overnight for observation, but he refused. Finally we took him back to the nursing home. However, once there Master pouted and refused to eat there. He said that he did not have enough fun and wanted to go out, so I took him on a joyride."

As his children contacted the Master so far? Amy said, "In 2012 we already wrote to his children and wife that they would have to arrange their meetings with the Master through the lawyer. They never asked about their old man through the lawyer, even when I saw his son in court he didn't ask how his old man was! Last year his son called the police to find his old man. At the time the police spoke with the Master and three plain clothes officers witnessed the Master say that for now he did not want to see his family. The Master absolutely was not incoherent as rumored outside."

Seeing something unfair, Amy despite not being the Master's blood relation unconditionally ran around on his behalf. Actually he and the Master had the same assistant. After learning that the Master had a stroke Fung Ying Wa became the custodian. She felt that there was a problem, when she saw something she had to say something, thus she told what she knew in court. Amy thanked a group of lawyers for volunteering their services, taking this case pro bono. She said, "The Master doesn't have a lot of saving, this sum is his survival money so we have to stand up and fight for him." With his former assistant returning the 1.2 million RMB, Amy would manage the sum on his behalf. Mainly it will be spent on the Master's everyday expenses and all expenses required receipts.

Reportedly, from January 1 2013 to 2014, the Master was in a private hospital room. In the private nursing home he was in a 2 person room and had to be fed. Later in order to save money, at the private nursing home the room was switched to a 4 person room. Due to the lawsuit, he toughed out 16 months. When he was short on money he had to cut expense and switch to a cheaper private nursing home. His caretaker was also switched from a full shift to half a shirt. Now his monthly expense cost HK$60,000, with a lot of treatment and miscellaneous expenses.

Wong Hei worked with the Master on TVB series FOOD FOR LOVE (HUP FU TUNG CHING) and SHADES OF TRUTH. After learning about his stroke he contacted Amy. He started to visit and give a little spending money. Later when he knew that the Master was in a lawsuit against his family, they met more often. Ah Hei joked, "I am the star of lawsuits! Many of my friends have been in lawsuits, I understand far too well what assistance is needed with them. After spending more time with him, I check with him to see if he has any question."
