"The Federation of Motion Film Producers of Hong Kong Ltd.", in accordance with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' selection criteria for the "Oscar Best International Feature Film" competition, decided to recommend the Soi Cheang Pou Soi directed, John Chong Ching, Wilson Yip Wai Shun produced, Louis Koo in Lok, Raymond Lam Fung, Terrance Lau Chun Him, Philip Ng Won Lung, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, German Cheung Man Kit starred film TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) to represent Hong Kong in the "Best International Feature Film" at the 97th Academy Awards. The film was a critical and commercial hit when it was released in May this year, with a box office of over HK$ 100 million and second among the highest grossing Hong Kong Chinese language films. The "Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film -- Hong Kong selection committee" had to choose from all Hong Kong films released between November 2023 and September 2024. TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN received the most votes and was selected to represent Hong Kong in the race.

TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN earlier was selected to take part in the 77th Cannes Film Festival "Midnight Screening". Director Cheang Pou Soi led Koo Tin Lok, Lam Fung, Lau Chun Him, Wu Tsz Tung and Cheung Man Kit to attend the press conference and walk the red carpet. The audience welcomed them. Now the film would represent Hong Kong in the Oscars Best International Film race, director Cheang Pou Soi and many of the leading actors were very excited to receive this good news. Director Cheang Pou Soi said, "I'm very happy and honored!" Star Koo Tin Lok responded that through this, Hong Kong's martial arts and sentiments could be spread all over the world. "I'm so happy that the movie TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN would represent Hong Kong in the 'Best International Feature Film' competition at the 97th Academy Awards. I feel very honored. My first Hong Kong film to participate in the Oscars would be able to bring Hong Kong's martial arts and sentiments to the whole world, more people would get to know Hong Kong films; and at the same time it can lead the new generation of actors to go international, which I am very excited about."

Another lead actor Lam Fung also responded, "Thank you for your appreciation of TWILIGHTS OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN, which even got the opportunity to get into the Oscars. This film was the effort of the entire team. I am honored to be able to participate." Lau Chung Him credited the entire film's effort. "I hear that TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN has the opportunity to represent Hong Kong films at the Oscars. Ng Won Lung responded, "My first reaction was very surprised and excited. Growing up watching Hong Kong kung fu movies in the United States, I never expected that Hong Kong kung fu movie I starred in might end up back in the U.S. at the Oscars. Thank you very much to the TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN team for their contribution." Wu Tsz Tung hoped tht the opportunity to compete at the Oscars would give the Hong Kong film industry even more motivation to make Hong Kong movies. German Cheung Man Kit also hoped that even more people would like Hong Kong movies and Hong Kong action movies through this.
