Following the death of the unmarried and childless Taki, Takeshi, a young relative of hers, discovers several pages of closely written lines in which the old lady has recorded her memories. This is how he learns the truth about her youth working as a housemaid and nanny for the Hirai family in a little house in Tokyo with a red gabled roof. Masaki is both head of the house and head of department at a toy factory. Whilst he has visions of his company expanding in the wake of Japan’s aggressive expansionist policies of the early 1940s, his wife Tokiko falls in love with his young colleague, art school graduate Shoji, whom she visits in secret. Their housemaid remains loyal to Tokiko and devotedly takes care of the family. However, growing increasingly aware of the furtive love affair that is developing, she is eventually forced to make a heartrending decision.

[ HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ]
Veteran director Yamada Yoji’s 82nd film, but his first romance. Set in a picturesque, 1920s suburban Tokyo, the story unfolds the triangles that reshape the lives of Masaki, a factory employee, his wife Tokiko and their son, Kyoichi, through the arrival of a friend, and the growing winds of war. As we reconstruct these events six decades later through the notebooks of Taki, their household maid, it becomes clear that another narrator triangulated the story in a very different fashion. Silver Bear for Best Actress, Berlin Film Festival.

The sleepy fishing town of Aberdeen was where the British landed to take Hong Kong, hence its Chinese name: “Little Hong Kong”. Likewise, the Cheng family embodies a microcosm of our city, with its contradictions between modernity and traditions, family and individuality. Aberdeen is at once intimate and sprawling, revealing uniquely troubled characters, from the eldest, the Taoist priest patriarch Dong, to the youngest, the bullied elementary schooler Chloe. Pang mixes his signature humor with the fantastical, incorporating dreams, the supernatural and other surprises to distinguish this star-studded film from ordinary family drama.

[2014.06.04] LIFE IS MORE DRAMATIC THAN FILM FOR LIDDY LI

Pseudo model Liddy Li Yuet Tung became the third party to Oxide Pang Shun and Angelica Lee Sinjie's marriage. Her father earlier committed suicide in Kowloon Bay. Yesterday Liddy appeared at the morgue to identify her father. Liddy's earlier film SEI FEI seemed to have a similar story. First the title came from the character "Sin". In the film her closest were murdered and she plotted revenge.

Pang Shun recommended Liddy Li for the Wong Pak Kei directed SEI FEI, she even got her first lead role with lead actor Pakho Chau. Yesterday Wong Pak Kei said that the film was still in post production and has already applied for Tokyo Film Festival and Busan Film Festival.

SEI FEI was about killer Pakho Chau shooting and killing Lee Yuet Tung's mother. After being sent to an orphanage, Chau by chance adopted her. Actually Lee recognized her adoptive father Pakho Chau to be the culprit. She even used his obsession with her to complete her revenge plot. In the film Liddy had scenes in which she masturbated and pleasured Pakho Chau with her hand.

Would the film release date before pushing up due to the incident? Wong Pak Kei said, "Actually the post production in Hong Kong is almost done, but the company has to arrange the release date. Ultimately it is a business decision." Although Liddy was the lead actress with a lot of screen time, because she was involved in the third party affair and her father was suicide shooter Li Deren would her role be reduced out of concern for either? Wong Pak Kei said, "For now no decision has been made, and we have no intention to. We have to talk with the company again, so far no change has been made." Would he contact his mentor Pang Shun for an understanding of the incident? He admitted said, "I don't think they are related, let's wait for them to settle down slowly."

Would Liddy promote the film later during its release? Wong Pak Kei said, "Ultimately we have to keep the company in mind, let's see how they will handle it." Speaking of the daring parts of the film, the director revealed that he did not know yet whether it will be rated category III or any change will be made. "Ultimately the incident had quite an enormous impact on the society. We have to sit down and talk about it, we have to be careful!" Would it have any negative effect on the film? He said, "We can't think about that, right now we want everyone to be fine first." Wong Pak Kei also revealed that he was pleased with Liddy's on screen performance. "For a newcomer she was OK. When you said if Liddy's show business development has been impacted, no one truly can think about that, no one can respond to that. That is beyond our control." Would he work with Liddy again? He said, "That would depend on......I have no comment."

Ha Yu, Lo Hoi Pang, Nina Paw Hee Ching, Stanley Fung Shui Fan, Kelvin Kwan Chor Yiu, Malaysian actor Joanne Yew (Yau Fung Yam) and Ha Yu's son Dixon Wong Chun Ming yesterday attended their new film ATM TAI FOON GEI's production start ceremony in Kowloon Tong. Ha Yu is the film's producer. He said that during the production he would provide suggestion and even yell at his son. He said, "He is new, since he just started he is lacking in everything. Most young actors have to soak for eight to ten years." Wong Chun Ming said that when he was little he would ask his father for money, his father was like his ATM. How would he repay him? He said, "I have been withdrawing for 25 years, I have to properly think about how to pay him back." He admitted that during the shoot he and his father would have differences in opinions, but he would not dare to talk back. Two days ago he rehearsed his lines, his father thought that his performance was lacking. He said that now he is a Now TV host and would like to act if the opportunity would present itself.

Kelvin Kwan Chor Yiu said that in the film he would play a rebellious youth who Fung Shui Fan would bring back to his senses. He even joked that he hoped to have a romance with Sister Bau in the film. "She always asks me to drive her home!"

Artist Carlos Chan Ka Lok recently for the Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed Emperor Motion Picture TO THE FORE (POR FUNG) has begun a bicycle and fitness training secretly. Earlier he privately practiced in Tai Po. He pointed out that every morning he had to get up at 9AM and train for 10 hours. After two weeks his weight dropped 10 pounds to 140 pounds. He joked that he was as thin as a mummy.

Chan Ka Lok pointed out that because both of his legs had to be locked on the pedals, he often fell over with his bicycle early in the training. "The first few days of the training were pretty dangerous, I almost didn't have the guts to pedal full force. However after five days I began to get used to it and dared to perform competition maneuvers like pedaling while standing and leaning forward." He also said that he was working on his leg muscles on the hill, and his metabolism was fast. Everyday he could eat five to six meals. He even hoped to reach 160 pounds within the month.

Gordon Lam Ka Tung and DaDa Chen Jing in the film THE Z STORM (Z FUNG BO) work together for the first time, but on the first day of work they immediately had to perform a fiery bed scene. Because they did not ask for a cleared set, the crew's gawking made DaDa feel very awkward. In the end they had six bad takes before completion. Usually before a kiss scene both parties would have chewing gum, but DaDa had a heavy flavored egg noodles. Ka Tung praised that this was completely an expression of self confidence.

Michael Wong Man Tak used DaDa's relationships with other men to help his bribery in the film. Ka Tung even threw money at her in bed. Luckily in real life her boyfriend has never used her, but she has been hurt before. Although the bed scene became the focus, DaDa was the most pleased with her break up scene with Wong Man Tak because she felt her acting has improved. Once with depression, she admitted that she worried no one would give her another chance after she came back. Thus she felt very fortunate to perform this time. She also has already let go of her negative emotions and started over. She said, "This time the character is very tragic, with a lot of negative emotions. My experience from my depression was just right for the character. It helped me with getting into the character."

When asked about how far the film went, she said, "I feel very naked, but Ka Tung's body covers me. I have more facial expressions." Ka Tung joked, "She didn't enjoy it at all. She had a pretty bitter look, like she saw a ghost."

Ka Tung revealed in the film he would appear topless. Luckily he has always been a "sexy star". Before hand he did not have to work out. He also joked that he and DaDa not only had many kiss scenes but also "action scenes". He even boasted that he was an "action star". He said, "Directors always ask me to make bd scenes. Over 20 years ago I am already in bed with (Anita) Lee Yuen Wa. This time I am working with DaDa. Perhaps Hong Kong never has any sexy star!" He even praised DaDa for successfully playing an extremely complex character.

Irene Wan Bik Ha, Kabby Hui Nga Ting, Rainky Wai Yu Yui and Mak Tak Wo two nights ago promoted their new film MAY WE CHAT (MEI GAU SIU NUI). The film was a continuation of Irene's film LONELY FIFTEEN (LAN MUI JAI). Two nights ago they went to Sunbeam Theatre for a screening of LONELY.

Irene said that in MAY she played Kabby's mother and did not have any daring performance. She also said that she has not watched LONELY in years. In the past she rarely watched her past work including her series.

Irene has been well maintained. She said, "I have changed a lot. Back then I was fifteen, my look still wasn't all grown up. I looked like a child star." She also said that now looking back, she thanked Leung Lee Siu Ha very much. After making the scene she went back to school. When she was 21, Mrs. Leung asked her to make a movie again and she finally had a chance to come back to show business. If not for that, she did not how she would turn out. She changed her life. Irene also said, "When I made LONELY FIFTEEN, my family was very poor. I lived in Tiu Keng Leng. Mrs. Leung asked me to live in her Jardine's Lookout home to be more convenient for the film production. She treated me like a daughter, and I lived there for over a year. When I got a boyfriend, I thought it was inconvenient and I moved out."

Kabby said that MAY was her first film and she had many daring scenes. Speaking of the film's category III rating, she said that she was not worried about being typecast. She said, "In the film two scenes were very extreme. I had a bed scene with (Dominic) Ho Ho Man, and in another scene I was gang raped. That day when I got to the set I already collapsed into tears because it felt very horrible." Kabby continued, when she first made MAY she was a chubby girl, now she has lost 20 pounds at only 100 pounds. She wanted to lose 5 more pounds.

Wai Yu Yui said that MAY was her first film as well. She said that in the film a double worked on a nude scene for her. At first she was worried that there would be misunderstanding, but she also believed that the audience's eyes were sharp.
