Director Wong Jing two days ago posted to his YouTube channel a new video "Why was Yau Suk Ching Wong Jing's official actress?". He talked about Chingmy Yau Suk Ching, the lead actress in many of his films and have been romantically linked to him. He mentioned that when Brigitte Lin (Lam Ching Ha) was filming ROYAL TRAMP (LUK DING GEI), she was very jealous because the size of Yau Suk Ching's role; he also revealed that Yau Suk Ching was originally the lead actress in DANCES WITH DRAGON (YU LUNG GUNG MO).

Wong Jing said that Yau Suk Ching has already caught his attention when she was competing in the 1987 Miss Hong Kong pageant. When he first saw Yau Suk Ching dressed like a little princess with a ponytail in a magazine, he thought this girl was very sweet, her appearance was so easy to be accepted by others, and she had great potential for development. While Yau Suk Ching was competing in Miss Hong Kong, an incident involving plastic surgery broke out and she decided to withdraw from the competition. Wong Jing vindicated Yau, saying that she was injured in a fall, her mandible was broken and she needed to undergo orthopedic surgery to reshape her chin. It was not a deliberate plastic surgery.

After Yau Suk Ching resigned from the competition, she joined TVB. Wong Jing started filming the Shaw Brothers movie MR. POSSESSED (JONG CHEH SIN SUN) and proposed to Mona Fong Yat Wa that he wanted Yau Suk Ching to play a supporting role. Later, he asked Yau to star in THE CRAZY COMPANIES (JUI GAI SUEN YAU). Because of her character name "Wat Dau Dau", Yau Suk Ching had another nickname "Dau Dau". Wong Jing said that Yau Suk Ching came from a modest family, so she worked very hard in hopes of becoming famous and changing her life. "After filming THE CRAZY COMPANIES II, she wasn't as enterprising and didn't want to take on so many roles. So I wanted to get an understanding, what changed? It turned out that she was in love. I said, 'That's fine, you don't say anymore. You can just find your happiness.'"

Wong Jing said that when Yau Suk Ching broke up with her boyfriend and wanted to make movies again, he started production on TRICKY BRAINS (JING GOO JUEN GA) and arranged for her to partner with Stephen Chow Sing Chi. Yau Suk Ching's acting skills were not very mature at the time, but she was one of the few actresses who could get roles with Chow Sing Chi. Yau Suk Ching later got the opportunity to perform in LEE ROCK (NG YIK TAM JEUNG LUI LOK JUEN). Wong Jing praised Yau for her very good performance and decided to tailor a script for her. He wrote DANCES WITH DRAGON (YU LUNG GUNG MO), but the investors wanted Cheung Man for lead actress so he had to recast.

Wong Jing said that the entertainment industry in the 1990s had so many beauties such as Brigitte Lin (Lam Ching Ha), Michelle Reis (Lee Ka Yun), Cheung Man, Carina Lau K Ling, Joey Wong Cho Yin, and Rosamund Kwan Chi Lam. It was not easy for Yau Suk Ching to win out. Thus he changed her scenes in ROYAL TRAMP (LUK DING GEI) again and again to give her more opportunities to star opposite Chow Sing Chi. Playing Princess Kinning, Yau Suk Ching's performance was humorous and lively; she was able to follow Chow Sing Chi in the movie. "The beauties with vested interests started to get a little jealous. 'Why do her scenes seem to be so prominent?' Even Lam Ching Ha was jealous as she said outside, 'Oh, I've been walking around behind Yau Suk Ching's butt all day, I don't know what I'm doing!' Later I of course added more scenes for Lam Ching Ha, and kept her from having to be in the group scenes."

Wong Jing also mentioned that Yau Suk Ching also knew that it would not be easy to stand out at that time. Veronica Yip Yuk Hing and Loletta Lee Lai Chun made several category III films and caused a craze. He asked Yau Suk Ching if she had the courage to think about this, her answer was that she could not accept that. Wong Jing also felt that full nudity was not necessary. "I said you have to achieve a certain standard, so that everyone thinks you are very sexy but can't see everything. I think I created this: not showing anything, show yet you can't see. I tailor-made NAKED KILLER (CHET LOR GO YEUNG) for her, and asked Fok Yiu Leung (Clarence Ford) to shoot it in an aesthetic way." He revealed that back then Josephine Siao Fong Fong was originally cast in NAKED KILLER, but she resigned after seeing the movie poster. The role instead went to Kelly Yao Wei.
