The annual film event Hong Kong Film Awards is about to be held, and the day before yesterday a special commemorative program was launched and included interviews with a number of actors. Among them Louis Cheung Kai Chung, MIRROR members Edan Lui Cheuk On and Venus Wong Man Yik all pointed out that they entered the house with the drama and won the audience's recognition. This year's nominees for various categories at the Hong Kong Awards, including Fala Chan and Joyce Tang Lai Ming, are also from TV stations, which proved that the television industry has been an important cradle for actors in the film industry!
The 44th Hong Kong Film Awards will be held at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Centre the day after tomorrow, and the commemorative program was published the day before yesterday. With the theme of "Starry Rain and Silver Flowers, Awaiting Momentum to Blooming", the program not only had the beautiful photos of the "Best Actor and Actress" candidates; but also included interviews with 38 actors, including Raymod Lam Fung, Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Edan Lui Cheuk On, Angela Yuen Lai Lam, Venus Wong Man Yik, Jennifer Yu Heung Ying, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Natalie Hsu (Hui Yan Yi), Cecilia Choi Sze Wan and Philip Ng Wan Lung, each sharing their performing art journey.
When asked which work they thought has been recognized by the audience, Wong Man Yik, Edan and Cheung Kai Chung all believed that the TV series was the starting point for them to enter homes. Praised for her performance in the movie REBORN (HUNG SUM YUN) last year, Wong Man Yik said, "The first time I felt the audience's recognition was the TV series HAPPILY EVER AFTER?, which was the side of me the audience has never seen before. Being able to make everyone empathize with and engage in the role and then reflect or understand is the greatest pleasure of being an actor."
Edan said that he has loved acting since he was a child, from graduation performances in kindergarten, to radio dramas and repertory troupes in elementary schools, to drama and music performances in secondary schools and universities, and he has been happy to participate and determined to become an actor since he was a child. He felt that the audience's favorite performance of his was the drama OSSAN'S LOVE (HK VERSION), and felt that he was lucky to play the role in the show. Competing for the Best Actor with the movie GOLDEN BOY this year, Cheung Kai Chung bluntly said that the TV series INBOUND TROUBLES broke him successfully into homes, and that feeling was both exciting and unbelievable. It was even an unexpected gain.
Looking at the nominations of this year's Hong Kong Film Awards, Best Actor and Actress nominees Louis Koo Tin Lok and Fala Chen, "Best Supporting Actress" nominee Tang Lai Ming and "Best New Performer" Ali Lee Kai Sum have all moved from the TV industry to the film industry, which showed that television has definitely been an important cradle for cultivating actors.
In addition, member of the guy group P1X3L George Au Chun Ho played the leading role for the first time in the movie VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF THE DEATH (BUT SEH JI JUI) last year. He played a juvenile delinquent who longed to be redeemed, and received a lot of praise. He was even seen as a favorite to be nominated for this year's Hong Kong Film Awards for "Best New Performer", unfortunately the film finally was declared ineligible and the dream also went up in smoke for George. He got into the business by participating in ViuTV's KING MAKER II and has also guest starred in BLOSSOMS UNDER SOMEWHERE (GEI LIU YUT JING GOR CHUN TIN). Yesterday George reportedly would participate in TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: THE FINAL CHAPTER (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI JUNG JEUNG), a film that is full of potential and fans are happy for him. Aside from the addition of Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Au Chun Ho would play a key role and have scenes with many actors. The film company responded, "Wait for the announcement at the appropriate time."
