The Juno Mak Chun Lung directed, Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo, Sean Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Gao Yuanyuan and other starred film SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT (FUNG LUM FOR SHAN) would represent Hong Kong in the "Best International Film" competition for a nomination of the 99th Academy Awards. The Hong Kong selection committee already selected from the Hong Kong films released from October last year to September this year, and SONS eventually accounted for the majority of the votes.
Costing HK$ 400 million SONS after 8 years in May last year premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France. In October of the same year the film was officially released in Hong Kong and the mainland. Although the reviews were mixed, but the film swept 8 awards to become the big winner at the Hong Kong Film Awards in April this year!
