the Salento Cinema Actor Award 2022 - City of Tricase from the
Salento International Film Festival for her 40 years of contribution
to show business. It was her first international award, for which she
felt deeply honored and difficult to describe with words. Two months
ago when her manager notified her of the award, she was so happy that
she held the phone and laughed for awhile. Her two daughters prepared
to return to Hong Kong to celebrate with her. Her husband Au Ting
Ping also praised her. She thought of the award as a present for her
62nd birthday last month and the best gift of this year. "Because
this year has been very rough, earlier due to the pandemic I was stuck
in Canada and couldn't come back." Speaking of the "audience
appreciation" culture, she joked that for MAMA'S AFFAIR (AH MA YAU
JOR DAI YI GOR) she attended a lifetime of audience appreciation
events. "I thanked so much that even my legs were cramping from
all the thanking!"

It is often said that food and meals bring families together, but in TABLE FOR SIX it's clear that not all family gatherings are a cause for celebration. In this melodramatic comedy, three brothers reside in a home that they inherited from their late parents. The eldest brother Steve, theoretically is the man of the house, but he constantly is getting dissed by his two younger brothers Bernard and Lung for the decisions he makes, the inedible meals that he cooks, and his complicated romantic encounters. To prepare for a family reunion dinner, Steve seeks the help of Lung’s girlfriend and foodie Josephine and in doing so, wins back their hearts for a while, until his old flame and Bernard’s new girlfriend Monica shows up. That's a recipe for a disaster waiting to explode! The unexpected visit of Steve's part-time girlfriend Meow not only fails to turn down the heat and cool the awkward situation, but stirs up the sibling conflict even further.

While attempting to mediate between the two, Yeung gets greatly disappointed and angry with Chun. And Ming, whose business failed, has a fight with his aging mother. That becomes the last family dinner. Eight years later, Ming's daughter Joy returns to Hong Kong, and the family plans for their traditional dinner on the winter solstice again. Can the years of pain and remorse bring the family together again? [ THE 46TH HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ]
Adapted from a sensational real-life case in 2013, the intricate story begins when a young man partners with his friend to murder and dismember his parents. Pleading not guilty, the defense attorneys soon turn on each other, as the defendants play the devil and idiot game. Meanwhile, heated debates emerge inside the jury room, where nine jurors grapple with the truth. Crafting a complex, multi-layered narrative with surprising twists and turns, Ho Cheuk-tin sets himself a formidable challenge in this directorial debut.
[ BROADWAY CIRCUIT ]
Adapted from a sensational 2013 family murder, Henry Cheung partnered up with his friend Angus Tong to murder and dismember his parents. In the courtroom, two veteran lawyers Wilson Ng and Carrie Yau were defending the pair pleading not guilty. The prosecutor Allen Chu suggests the murder was a calculated move for money. But the plot thickened when Ng and Yau began to present their case, and when Tong rebutted all accusations on his own. The truth becomes all the more elusive as the defendants played the role of 'genius' and 'idiot' in court. In the breakroom, discussions between the nine jury members spiraled into debates of right and wrong.
Locker Lam and Patrick Tam play father and son. Despite being working together for the first time they have chemistry courtesy of on.cc
Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Locker Lam Ka Hei, Ying Chi Yuet
(Little Cat), Mark Cheng Ho Nam, Sherming Yiu Lok Yi and other starred
in the film FIGHT FOR TOMORROW (PING MING SAM LONG), which wrapped up
production earlier. In the film Ah Tam played "Ah Long" and his
father and son relationship with Locker was the main plot. Locker
pointed out that working with Ah Tam for the first time, Ah Tam
before the shoot took him to dinner to get to know each other.
They also exchanged text messages about film. By the time the
production came around they already had a father and son bond. He
said, "He is a 'dad' who is like a friend." Ah Tam also praised
his "son" for being hard working.
Making his film debut, Little Cat might oppose Ah Tam in the
film but he said, "He would share his experience like Papa, very
intimate and gentle." Ah Tam joked, "Little Cat from being panicky
in the start to gaining more and more self confidence, I felt like I
was watching him grow up. Even I got younger!"

The new director Eric Tsang Hing Weng directed HONG
KONG FAMILY (GOR SI GOR JIK) was selected by the Busan International
Film Festival and the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival. Stepping into
its second week in release, its box office would soon pass HK$ 8
million. Edan Lui Cheuk On two days ago appeared at 5 cinemas in
Kowloon and the New Territories for 18 shows of audience appreciation
events. Also on hand was the basis for Edan's character, director
Tsang Hing Weng. Claiming that two "Ah Yeung" were present, Edan and
the director were the event very cheerful and made the sobbing fans
recover their composure very quickly.
Edan was asked about the film's influence on him. He said,
"Actually I have always been kind of confused about acting. I don't
really know how to be good or not good, especially with the
dramatic handling this time. Luckily I ran into Director Eric,
elders like Sister Mo (Teresa Mo Shun Kwan) and Brother Kwan Ho
(Gardner Tse). They chatted with me a lot and kept adjusting me, so
I gained a lot. I gradually understood what acting was and had to
get a more in depth understanding of the message the director wanted
to bring out."
The characters in the film due to poor communication tied a
knot that would be hard to untie. Edan admitted that he too did not
handle that too well. "Privately at home I don't communicate a lot
with my family. At home I am like (Hedwig) Tam Sin Yin's character,
my sister Ah Kei, I don't really talk. From childhood to now I
rarely have heart to heart chats with my family. However after
personally experiencing this film, I have learned to communicate more
with the family. I cherish what is important, so this movie's
meaning to me has already exceeded just a movie. It has certain
influence on life. In addition I still need Ma's care, so I
wouldn't be like the director and leave home." Director Tsang Hing
Weng said in response, "Relax, now I still see my family and have
dinner together!"
Many fans asked about Ah Yeung and Birdy Anson Lo's
relationship, Edan replied, "Good friends, but if I am in the movie's
time and space I might not bring Birdy home for dinner; because I
would have to bring my Pa Brother Kwan Ho home to have dinner with
the whole family first!"
Edan ran between cinemas from afternoon to night. Seeing
how passionate and encouraging the fans were, he could not help but
sing a few verses of the film theme song ANT THAT CLIMBS THE STAIRWAY
TO HEAVEN. Many fans even sang along with Edan and brought the
event to an end with joy and warmth.

Justin Cheung Kin Sing is the producer and actor of
the new film THE GAMESTER (CHIN FONG BAK GAI). Earlier with Wiyona Yeung
Chi Ching, Kaki Sham, Adam Pak Tin Nam, Ben Yuen Fu Wa and others
shot on location in Malaysia. He was rather pleased with the cast.
"I have known Yeung Chi Ching for many years, so we have certain
chemistry from working together. I also have to thank Lam Suet for
flying in from Qingdao for work. Kaki Sham's schedule is tight but
was able to make time for the shoot; Brother Ben Yuen Fu Wa injected
a lot of fun stuff into the role, adding a lot of fun into the film."
Yeung Chi Ching this time would play a swindler. She said, "I hope
the sooner to be done with the production the sooner it would be
released, so everyone would be able to see our effort." She and Pak
Tin Nam shot on location on a man made lake. Fortunately they had
wake surf experience, they were able to master their first water
skiing scenes.
Cheung Kin Sing and director Toni Shum Shek Yin based the
film on their personal experience. They previously have run into a
swindler and got to see the variety of cons in action. Back then
they were swindled and suffered heavy losses, so they decided to make
the experience into a movie.
Cheung Kin Sing said, "Thank you very much to the boss for
investing in another movie after LEGENDARY IN ACTION! (DAI HUP
ACTION!). Last time the boss already promised to make another movie,
so THE GAMESTER appeared." The team hoped that this would be a
beginning, in the future they would be able to shoot on location at
different places. This time he used half of the LEGENDARY IN ACTION
team.
