Wong Fok Wing gave his life to save others. Yesterday at the Artist 414 Fund Raising Campaign, Ah Fok's idol Connie Chan Bo Chu on stage read a letter from Ah Fok's third sister. She cheered on the victims from afar and continued to extend Ah Lok's selfish spirit. Sister Bo Chu and her son Yeung Tin King read, "Ah Wing: you have always been low key, feeling that something that an ordinary person should do does not need to be announced. The last time when you walked to Beijing to raise fund for the blood cancer and bone marrow registry, you said that you hoped to spread the message through the media and let life affect life. I think, you would like me to tell your little story to others, sow the seed in hopes of even more compassionate people would help the children in need in the country.

In 2002, the media also reported your white blood red heart project extension Hong Kong walk to Beijing. Our entire family proudly walked the final stretch from Lugou Bridge to Beijing and raised a lot of money for the country's and Hong Kong bone marrow registry and blood cancer patients. whether the poor mountain region children in the Mainland or thriving Hong Kong people, you wished that they can achieve this project slogan 'Respect Life, Treat Life Kindly'!

After the Sichuan earthquake, you participated in some national assistance work. Finally you excitedly walked this road. I know, even if you get to choose again, you will still walk this road, trying to save others after you escape!

Ah Wing, we will continue to do your good deeds!

Third Sister
April 15 2010 evening"

Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Sammi Cheng Sau Man visited the disaster victims in Qinghai and cheered on the injured at the hospital. Ka Fai did not follow Sammi into the Intensive Care Unit visit, Ka Fai was afraid to see the amputee victims and could not stand the sight. Sammi said, "Because the atmosphere inside is very sad, I brought them smile and strength to let the victims know that Hong Kong people care a lot about them." Reportedly Sammi showed signs of altitude disease, she said, "No, I only had a cold." She said that others thought visiting the disaster area was to help the victims, but actually it helped herself. She said, "I have a very strong feeling. Because earlier my father had brain surgery, I had an experience in the ICU. This time I wasn't as scared when I went."

Sammi also expressed that the authorities took care of the victims very quickly. The victims all raised their thumbs in praise of the government. As for anything memorable, she said, "A pregnant woman gave birth to a baby. Both were safe and I touched the baby, but I didn't dare to ask whether the baby's father was around. A rescue hero talked about his own experience and appeared to be very calm. He completely didn't feel he was a hero. Instead he was quite touching." Last night before Sammi went on stage she fell due to the dark backstage. She said, "I fell flat on my face, my forehead even hit the ground. The headache and the foot pain were minor, the embarrassment was a big deal. Hopefully no one saw it!"

The Yushu, Qinghai earthquake in China caused over 2,000 deaths and casualties and even more to lose those who were the closest to them and their homes. Show business today will perform a charity fund raiser at the Hong Kong Coliseum in hopes of gathering nearly 300 Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan artists' care to rebuild homes for the Qinghai earthquake disaster area homes for the victims, display the mutual love and care and the "bloody thicker than water" caring spirit. The fund raising show will begin tonight at 6PM at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The television broadcast will air live at 7PM and end at 11PM. Yesterday the event announced the list of nearly 300 performers. The artists united for the victims. This event also put many rumored and former couples on the same stage, like Andy Hui Chi On and Cheng Sau Man, the just announced divorcing Ronald Cheng Chung Kei and Charlene Choi Chuek Yin, Gillian Chung Yun Tung and Juno Mak Chun Lung, Bosco Wong Chung Chak and Myolie Wu Hung Yi, Ekin Cheng Yi Kin and Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Eason Chan Yik Shun and Kay Tse On Kay, Kevin Cheng Ka Wing and Niki Chow Lai Kei, Charmaine Sheh Si Man and others. Carol Cheng Yui Ling, Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Wu Xiaoli and Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui will host the event. Everyone will host a moment of silence at 8PM. The event in a show of respect to the victims will not welcome any attendee who display singer support signs.

Two days ago heading to Xining, Qinghai, Mok Siu Chung, Cheung Sau Man and Cheung Ka Fai visited the disaster victims at the hospital. Many were very happy to see them. Cheng Sau Man and Cheung Ka fai mainly reported and visited while Mok Siu Chung was responsible for the shoot. Sammi even put of the hospital's protective gear to visit the more severely injured victims. Sammi pointed out that this time was just like her last visit in Sichuan. She actually was not able to help much but some victims were very comforted to hear how much their Hong Kong compatriots cared about them. She also said that saw a rescue hero who broke down in tears while recounting and she almost broke down as well. Due to the location's height, some reporters felt numbness in their limbs. Her assistant also had a headache and nausea. She yesterday morning also began to have a headache and strong cough. Perhaps due to the cold she caught a cold. The locals yesterday were very nervous when they sent them to the airport. Seeing her coughing and sniffling, they asked her to take medicine. Sammi pointed out that although this trip was very exhausting, she felt it was well worth it and she was very touched.

In addition, TVB's Tsang Sing Ming yesterday revealed that all four TVB channels will air the show. High definition station, Entertainment news station and TVB music station will begin the broadcast from 6PM to the end. TVB Jade will begin its coverage at 7PM. All advertising and series will make room for the show for the first time in TVB history. Tsang Sing Ming revealed that this period's advertising revenue was in seven figures. He said, "We have communicated with the advertisers. This was for disaster relief, they gladly supported what TVB was doing. We will compensate advertisers the next day in the same time slot. We can't say it will be a loss. Anyone with money can donate money and anyone with ability can donate that. An uninterrupted broadcast will be even more effective, through the event we will spread 'Ah Fok Spirit' and attract even more donation." Tsang Sing Ming denied that TVB was following ATV's broadcast without any commercial interruption and stressed that they have already begun to looking into doing so Friday.

[2010.04.26] ETHAN RUAN HURTS ALL OVER FROM MONGA

courtesy of takungpao.com

Popular in both Hong Kong and Taiwan, Ethan Ruan (Yuen King Tin) recently made the jump from television to the big screen with the Doze Niu Chen-Zer directed film MONGA. Earlier Siu Tin appeared on a Cable Entertainment News station interview. Siu Tin during the program talked about the production and shared his views on love and marriage.

Siu Tin expressed that the MONGA production was very exciting, unexpected and stimulating because when he at first accepted the role he did not even have a script. He said everyday at work he had to fight and injured almost every part of his body. Even he had no idea where he was hurt. At night when he bathed he was aching everywhere. Earlier Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) was rumored to be in the film. Losing the chance to work with Chairman Chou, Siu Tin said that with Chairman Chou he might not be in the film. Speaking of dispute rumors with Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting), Siu Tin said that everyone on and off screen were brothers.

Siu Tin rose to fame with FATED TO LOVE YOU but before making this series he already decided to retire from show business. He thought that he was almost 30 and had to plan for his future. He did not want to waste any more time. At the time he already called his mother, "I am coming back to properly study and not play anymore." Later a very "funny" comment changed his mind because someone asked him, "If in the future your child asks you, 'Pa, you used to act, have you been the lead actor?' You can't say you haven't, that's too embarrassing." Siu Tin called his mother again and took six months off to play his first and last male lead role. He even promised Mommy to return home and continue his education after the shoot. Yet after LOVE, he rose to fame and has not stopped working. Later he made MY QUEEN, which not only solidified his popularity but also importantly helped his blind spot in his love life. Siu Tin said that he was very subjective, a chauvinistic bully who always wanted to protect his other half. He would not care whether she needed his protection. Siu Tin would like to wed at 35, grow up with his child and looked forward to seeing his child.

[2010.04.25] JOSIE HO REPORTS GOOD NEWS TO HER FATHER

courtesy of takungpao.com

Josie Ho Chiu Yi two nights ago attended an event. Her film DREAM HOME (WAI DOR LEI AH YUT HO) will be released soon. Lately she has been busy with the film promotion. Perhaps because she spoke too much her voice was hoarse, but she was very happy that the film was selected for the Amsterdam Film Festival and the Udine Film Festival opening film. The film will also participate in other film festivals, which she was very excited and somewhat confused about.

Chiu Yi pointed out that currently she has been busy with picking out clothing for film festivals but for now she did not know whether the film will compete. Does her father Stanley Ho Hung Sun know about her investment being recognized? Chiu Yi said that of course her father knew.  Chiu Yi joked that she would consider a special screening at home for him.

[2010.04.25] CHENG PEI PEI RECOVERS FROM LIVER PROBLEM

courtesy of takungpao.com

Cheng Pei Pei just completed a New Zealand female director's first film and returned to Hong Kong. She immediately headed to the U.S. for director King Hu (Wu Kam Chuen)'s personal film festival. Before making the new film, she actually had major problem with her body. Fortunately now she is fine.

Sister Pei Pei said, "Last year I worked on many movies in the Mainland and was unusually busy. A friend recommended me to see a Chinese medicine practitioner at a Shanghai hospital to treat my body. After three weeks and five days my entire body turned yellow. At a neighbor's advice I went to see a brother in law doctor for a hospital check up and learned that my GOT was 12 times greater than the ordinary person's. Because my liver couldn't resolve toxin I could not be treated with medicine. I could only rest more at home and drink more water for the toxin to naturally leave my body." The doctor even told her if she kept working abroad her liver function would deteriorate and she might need a liver transparent. Sister Pei Pei finally stayed at home and rest. "My first time with Chinese medicine I damaged my liver. Luckily I have been a vegetarian for 20 years and exercised normally. Thus after resting at home for over a month my GOT returned to normal and I wasn't yellow anymore."

After years in the business with countless wuxia films, the director who worked the most with Sister Pei Pei was big director Wu Kam Chuen. She expressed, "Wu Kam Chuen was the first Chinese director to win an award in Cannes. In 75 he was one of the world' top five directors." She continued that at the end of the month she will attend his personal film festival in the U.S. She also took part in the planning and agreed to be the guest at the COME DRINK WITH ME (DAI JUI HUP) screening. As the film's lead actress it would be quite meaningful.

The show business world next Monday will perform a fund raising show for the Yushu, Qinghai earthquake victims. Two nights ago nearly 200 artists and singers gathered at Radio Hong Kong to record its theme song HAND TO HEART (SAU NIN SUM). Alan Tam who attended a fund raising event in Qinghai returned to Hong Kong and immediately contacted people to arrange for singer recording. He honestly said that he did not mind being the runner but he might not visit the disaster area because he was afraid that he would get in the way.

Two nights ago nearly 200 singers attended, aside from Alan the other four members of Wynners also attended. Other singers included Eason Chan Yik Shun, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Denise Ho Wan Si, Hacken Lee Hak Kun, Kelly Chen Wai Lam, and Joey Yung Cho Yi. Alan expressed that only upon arrival did he learned that he was responsible for internal organization to arrange singer recording orders. He said that last year when singers recorded a song for the Sichuan earthquake, some had to wait until very late. This time out of fairness they drew straw to decide. Alan and the Wynners will be the contacts and runners. He said, "This time everyone is united in this." He also pointed out that the Poon Yuen Leung written lyrics were very touching and spot on.

Alan earlier went to Qinghai to attend a fund raising event. He expressed that he did not go to the disaster area and only went to more interior place in Xining. However he saw all the traffic lights were lit green for the convenience of military's endless resource transports. Did he visit the disaster area? He joked, "If I go I can really help! The more I help the worse it gets. I don't want to hinder the rescue work." However, Alan honestly said that since returning from Qinghai he has been ailing. He did not know whether it was altitude sickness, but he joked, "Now I am a little dizzy. Today when I walk I walk a little backward." He also said that he had to take multiple transfers before being able to return to Hong Kong.

Eason arrived after 10PM and explained that he had to work on an ad campaign. Although he looked tired he immediately rushed over after work. He honestly said that he was really tired and felt a little "wilted". Did he want to visit the disaster area? He expressed that he had the chance he would, but his jobs have already been schedule so he believed that he would not have time. The event did not contact him to go perhaps because it knew that his schedule was full. Eason honestly said that he has not made a donation yet. He said that even if he did he would not say it as he felt this was something he had to do personally. He honestly said that lately he did not want to read the newspaper because he was heartbroken from reading it. However he felt that each visit would be advantageous. At first he felt that as a public figure he might only trouble others if he went. However because he was a public figure he could bring more attention. He earlier already visited with World Vision and he was the one who benefited.

In addition, Sammi Cheng Sau Man despite her asthma insisted on visiting Qinghai, as a good friend Ah Si knew. She expressed that earlier she visited Sichuan and knew that this type of visit must be done in a group. Thus when artists arrived in the disaster area actually they could not do anything practical, reporting the local condition back to Hong Kong was the most important. Ah Si worried that Qinghai's air pressure would be dangerous to Sammi, but Sammi was a grown person so she should already make proper preparations and safety would come first. She also understood why Sammi was so insistent on going and as a friend she would remind her to be careful.
