"Metro Hit Awards Ceremony 2024" broke the framework of previous music award ceremonies and used the theme of "Our Pride" in the music world and sports world for the first time, in order to express gratitude to all the athletes from Hong Kong, China who participated in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as every singer and behind-the- scenes heroes who have contributed to the music scene. Hins Cheung King Hin won the Gold Award for "Hit Creative Singer", the "Hit Singer of the Year" award and the "Hit Song of the Year" award for THE LAST MAD SURGE OF YOUTH at the Metro Hit Awards 2024 yesterday, becoming the big winner with 3 individual awards. Terence Lam Ka Him and Gin Lee Hung Ngai became the gold medal winners of "Hit Male and Female Singers".
The first report card of the music scene this year was distributed yesterday by the "Metro Hit Awards Ceremony 2024", which presented a total of 67 awards. "Big Winner" Cheung King Hin also won the "Hit Singer of the Year" award again. He said that he has not attended the award show in two years and it felt like a a party. He recalled that when he first entered the industry 20 years ago, he already participated in his radio's program and felt a sense of affection. He no longer remembered if he only missed the rookie award at this award show. He stated that this year he decided to retreat and not campaign for votes, feeling that the biggest challenge was not work but family. Referring to some of his family problems he revealed earlier, he said that it was difficult to make family matters public; but as his parents got older and their health began to decline, he began to feel that the burden on his shoulders as an only child was very heavy. He would not regard it as a burden though, and hoped to accompany his parents and travel more with his family next year. They just moved back to Hong Kong and he hoped for peace in the world. When Hin Jai met Jeffrey backstage, the two even excitedly took a photo together.
Cheung King Hin has always picked Chau Yan Ting to win with FORTUNE OF THREE LIFETIMES, praising him for his singing and looks. He thought Chau Yan Ting was a very determined singer with heart. He always said that Heaven would reward diligence, keep working hard and never giving up were the keys to victory. "Earlier for the Commercial Radio Ultimate Awards My Favorite Song, I selfishly want Lam Ka Him's THE LAST DANCE theme song to win. This song is top notch in its vision and taste, bringing pop song to another level. Actually my SEASONS and UNDER THE CHERRY BLOSSOM were not big hits back then either, they required time to become fine wine."
Gin Lee won the Female Gold and Song Awards. Speaking of joining Emperor for two years, she kept winning awards. She admitted that for the past two years she kept charging ahead and felt very fulfilled. She would wait until after the award shows to settle her emotions. She was very happy that her parents were there to witness in person in the first row and hoped that she could be the pride of her parents. She denied that she already knew that she would win in advance, explaining that whenever her parents were in Hong Kong, she would ask them to support her at the award shows every time. She revealed that she now only eats one meal a day in order to get into her award ceremony dress. She joked that she was very hungry, but needed to continue this hunger mode until she would complete another award ceremony on New Year's Day.
Her record company Emperor won a total of 13 awards. When Gin Lee's fellow label mates Tang Siu Hau, Arvin Tsang Ngo Fei, Dark Wong Ming Tak and girl group VIVA took the stage to accept the awards, they did not forget to thank the late executive Shirley. Siu Hau even looked up to the sky many times to hold back her tears.
In addition to winning the men's gold, Lam Ka Him also won the "Hit Album of the Year"; both were major awards. He said that he was very happy and felt worthy of these two awards, because he was excessively diligent last year. He has never released so many years since his career started. Ngai Chun Sun received the "Hit Singer of Excellence" and with the song FURNITURE won a Hit Song award. He felt that he could answer to the team and also thanked Cheung King Hin for praising his song BEFORE SUNSET. He really wanted the opportunity to collaborate. As for the upcoming award shows he would go with the flow. Next year he would continue to work hard on every song. He was an independent singer, producing each song was very expensive. With the poor market now, he would think of ways to save a little on music but would not lower the quality.
STAR Academy Little Flowers and After Class members Chantel Yiu Cheuk Fei, Yumi Chung Yau Mei and Windy Zhan Tianwen won a total of 7 awards with their fellow students Archie Sin Ching Fung, Felix Lam Chi Lok, Aska Cheung Chi Ho and Hugo Wong Yik Bun at the "Metro Hit Awards", with Lam Chi Lok and Chantel winning the Gold Award in the "Hit Leaping Male and Female Singers" respectively. VIVA member Carina said that her mind was blank when they won the award. "When I attended the award ceremony I thought I was ready, but actually I wasn't.
