Carlos Chan wins Best Supporting Actor award again after 9 years |
The 16th Macao International Movie Festival and the 15th Macao International Television Festival were held at The Venetian Macao recently. The night before last, the 16th Golden Lotus Awards ceremony was star-studded. Zhang Yimou's ARTICLE 20 won the best film. THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) won three major awards, namely the best director Anselm Chan Mou Yin and the best actor and actress Dayo Wong Tze Wah and Michelle Wai Sze Nga. Zhu Yilong also won the Best Actor for LAND OF BROKEN HEARTS. Carlos Chan Ka Lok won Best Supporting Actor for THE UNWAVERING BROTHERHOOD (JAT JIK 3: YI BOK WAN TIN); The Best Supporting Actress is Wang Shengdi of A PLACE CALLED SILENCE.
Winning the "Best Director" award for THE LAST DANCE, Chan Mou Yin said that the process of completing the film was rather difficult. "This film was shot smoothly under such difficult circumstances, and the film is still in release nationwide so I hope you will support it. Thank you to everyone who loved this movie."
Playing the role of "Tao Sun", Wong Tze Wah thanked all the team members of THE LAST DANCE in his acceptance speech, "Including director Chan Mou Yin who had the courage to shoot this subject, and even more courageous boss Dr. Yeung Sau Sing to invest in an alternative subject movie. I want to thank myself for having the courage to come to Macau, because I have never won in Macau from childhood to adulthood. Finally I won once, thank you all."
Wai Sze Nga won the "Best Actress" award once again. She expressed her gratitude to the director, screenwriter and producer, and others. "Most importantly I would like to thank the audience who loved the movie THE LAST DANCE. Our movie is still in release, so I hope everyone would support it. Thank you Hong Kong Movie!"
As of the evening of December 30, 2024, the cumulative box office of THE LAST DANCE in Hong Kong and Macao has exceeded HK$152 million. Dr. Yeung Sau Sing, Chairman of Emperor Group, together with director Chan Mou Yin, screenwriter Cheng Wai Kei, actors Wong Tze Wah, Wai Sze Nga, Catherine Chau Ka Yee, Elly Lam and Polly Lau Yuk Po, was also present in Macao along with Simon Yam Tat Wah, Alex Fong Chung Shun, Irene Wan Bik Ha, Carlos Chan Ka Lok, Jeana Ho Pui Yu, Sammy Sum Chun Hin, Kenny Kwan Chi Bun, Angela Hui Ching Wan and Angus Yeung Tin Yue.
Chan Ka Lok won the "Best Supporting Actor" at the Macao International Movie Festival for the first time in nine years with the movie THE UNWAVERING BROTHERHOOD (JAT JIK 3). When receiving the award, he thanked his wife, Shiga Lin. "Shiga helped me take care of my family and gave me no worries when I was fully engaged in my work."
Irene Wan Bik Ha was nominated for "Best Actress" for her upcoming new film ONCE UPON A LIE but unfortunately did not win the award. She generously said that being nominated was a great encouragement, and praised THE LAST DANCE as one of her favorite films. "Director Chan Mou Yin is very excellent, enabling every actor in the film to be able to give full display of their acting skills on the screen. Wong Tze Wah, Wai Sze Ng and Hui Koon Man all performed very well." She also revealed that ONCE UPON A LIE will be released in mainland China and Hong Kong in mid-March 2025. She was looking forward to the release of the new work because she put in a lot of effort. She was even invited to present the Golden Lotus Award on December 30th.
