Alex Fong Chung Shun and German Cheung Man Kit after playing the "bad guys couple" in the movie UNDER CURRENT (NOI MOK) teamed up again in the new film ULTIMATE REVENGE (CHUNG FUNG: FOR PING), making a big turnaround as the "Justice couple", playing the role of the Emergency Unit team leader and team members respectively, and working together to hunt down the bandits. Cheung Man Kit also served as the action director. The 62-year-old Fong Chung Shun jumped off a building, jumped off a bridge, performed car chases, explosion and other scenes in the film without using a stunt double. He joked that the shoot went beyond his capabilities. "Cheung Man Kit treated me like a young kid and gave me a strong push." Cheung Man Kit had to complete all the action scenes within two months, saying that it was the most difficult challenge since entering the industry. He worked until he passed out and tore his calf muscle, but he was happy to get to fight with Andy Tien (On Chi Kit) like he wanted.
Fong Chung Shun played the leader of an Emergency Unit in ULTIMATE REVENGE. Leading from beginning to end, he personally performed jumping off buildings, bridges, car chases, explosions, chases and other action scenes. He said that he was not worried about safety issues, and absolutely trusted the action director Cheung an Kit. He praised him for achieving this result with limited resources, which was quite good. "I didn't expect that this time would have so many action scenes that I cried. Cheung Man Kit treated me like a young man, and the shoot really went a little beyond my capabilities. It was very hard, fortunately I have been running." Cheung Man Kit praised Fong Chung Shun for his professionalism. Even if he ran out of energy after more than 20 hours of work, he had no complaints. He said with a smile, "He has been rumored to be very resistant to working overtime, so I was very intense at the beginning." Fong Chung Shun clarified, "The rumors are false, and those who say that I don't work overtime are slandering me."
Cheung Man Kit said that ULTIMATE REVENGE was the most difficult time he had ever had in film, because he had to complete a lot of action scenes within the deadline and he had to take care of the scenes as well. "I was very stressed. I fell into a state of insanity as I wanted to be within my planning, which was really challenging the limit." Once an stand-in for On Chi Kit, he has always hoped to fight him. This time he finally got what he wanted. Because he had to take care of the behind-the-scenes, his body collapsed. When he got to the third shot, his calf muscle was torn and he could not stand. He went to the hospital for treatment, fortunately he did not have to be hospitalized. "As soon as I was released from the hospital I rushed back to the set. I was very worried that the production progress would be affected, luckily the brothers helped out and I also learned to let go to the team. The next day I started work in a wheelchair. slightly modified the plot, I knelt on the ground to continue fighting with On Chi Kit."
Cheung Man Kit revealed that shooting a large scale scene in a busy city was very tough, during which Granville Road in Tsim Sha Tsui was blocked off for two days for the gun fight, chases, explosion and car flip scenes. Although he has applied to the relevant departments to close the streets, the noise caused during filming coupled with the crowd watching always caused obstacles to nearby merchants. Thankfully the store owners were patient and tolerate so the film was able to bring about the realistic scene.
Fong Chung Shun described the gunfight scene in ULTIMATE REVENGE as "all you can eat bullets", "This time I fire the gun the most times in my film career, my hands became numb from all the firing. The producer was very good and didn't tell us to save money." Cheung Man Kit said that a total of 2,000 bullets were fired in the whole film, and the cost of each bullet was more than 20 dollars. "The numbers really added up."
Cheung Man Kit blamed himself for the filming process being like "abusing" the actors because the numerous many actions, the tight schedule, and the cold weather. "The most outrageous abuse is (Deep) Ng Ho Hong. In the film he was held hostage and tied up in the back of the car. The car was speeding and drifting on the road, and with the cold weather Deep in order to save time would rather stay tied up and remained with the car during the break. I want to say sorry to all the actors, I hope that the film will have a good reaction and make them feel that it is worth the effort."
Fong Chung Shun said that he was considerate of Cheung Man Kit because he knew that he had to deliver on time. Film has now entered the cold winter period, the amount of filming has plummeted. Having a job was already great, so he would not mind too much. "Recently only a few movies seem to be in production. After decades in this business I have never seen it this bad. Actors are very passive, they can only do best, try to coordinate with publicity as much as they can in hopes of achieving good results. Attracting foreign investment is the countermeasure." Cheung Man Kit revealed that his Best Actor cousin Nick Cheung Man Fai has proposed working together as a family, and he believed that this agreement would happen at the right time.
