The 18th Asian Film Awards Presentation Ceremony will be held on March 16th. This year the event invited "Big Brother Big" Sammo Hung Kam Bo to serve as the chairman of the jury. Hung Kam Bo shared his views and benchmarks on the judging process. "Film appreciation is a very subjective thing, and everyone has their own feelings and opinions. That's why when I judge, I would express my opinion very frankly and give a solid evaluation. I believe it's a sign of respect for the creators." He said that judging was not only about expressing opinions, but also about communicating with each other. "After working on the set for many years, I have learned one thing. Film is the art of teamwork; whether it is filming or judging, it is not a one-person decision. I will listen to the opinions of the other judges and discuss them together, and I hope that everyone will agree on the final decision."
Hung Kam Bo felt that being a director was the most difficult, because he needed to be in control of the whole set. He wanted to challenge himself in the future and try to make romance films. "I am very interested in romance movies, this is a direction I have never tried before." He starred in EIGHT TAELS OF GOLD (BAK LEUNG GUM) in 1989, which dabbled in the subject of love. When talking about the value of action movies, Hung Kam Bo said, "Action movies should not only render action scenes, but also have power and emotional expression behind each action and truly achieving both dramatic and action integrity." As a director, actor, action director and producer, he mentioned that action movies could bring the world closer together. Because of the inclusiveness of action movies, combined with comedy, thriller and even love elements, it showed unlimited creative space. He hoped to see more action movies that would break through the tradition in the future.
