The TVB and Radio Hong Kong jointly organized Hong Kong Gold Song Awards 2021/2022 would take place on July 24th. Yesterday at the press conference, the Broadcast Authority chief and TVB Music Group Limited CEO Ho Lai Chuen together unveiled the first "Hong Kong Gold Song Honorary Award" to be the "Asian popular music godfather" Chris Babida (Pau Pei Tat). He said that the award gave him even greater confidence, his music was not passed its prime and he still had fire inside. New generation singers Oscar Tao Yuk Lun, Sherman Poon Ching Man, Rock Ho Chun Lok, Kaitlyn Lam Kwan Lin, Felix Lam Chi Lok, Aeren Man Hoi Ting, Alex Kwong Sing Yu, DEZ Yu Chung Yu and Leanne Li Yin also saluted the elder and hoped to be able to sing his work.

The 72 year old Pau Pei Tat has been a music director, producer, song writer, song arranger, conductor and performer all in one. Starting in the late 70's he created countless classic hits in the Greater Chinese Region and remained renowned for 50 years. He said that he was very touched to receive the award, but believe the younger generation now does not know him too well. Actually he has been making music for a very long time. He said, "I still maintain the fire, this fire came from Papa. He told me if I want to make music then I could do it properly, do anything and everything, so my fire is still burning!"

Pau Bei Tat joked that he was already working when Cantonese songs first became popular, which seemed as far as the Stone Age. In the 70s when Joseph Koo Ka Fai was making music he was there too, then in the 80s he was even the music director who worked the most concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum, able to work with many good friends and very exciting artists like Roman Tam (Law Man), Sam Hui Koon Kit, Alan Tam Wing Lun, Jenny Tseng (Yun Nei), Anita Mui Yim Fong, Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing and Paula Tsui Siu Fung. The music scene was very cheerful; in the 80's much of Hong Kong popular music was adapted and song writers were few. He had many dreams, as he thought about working on musical, ballet, film, classical music. In the early 90s he went to Taiwan and worked with many artists. He tried musical. In 1997 he was named the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region founding ceremony music director.

Pau Pei Tat then went to work in Beijing. "I feel very honored and proud, to be able to create the them song for the 2008 Beijing Olympic torch relay. You can win 4, 5, 6 Oscars, but you only get to write the Olympic song once!" Pau Pei Tat said that now that he has returned to Hong Kong, he was not finished yet. He was not over the hill and was still learning a lot of things. "In particular music isn't simple, it's very challenging. My fire still remains, so this time I return to Hong Kong in hopes of still being able to lend a helping hand, whatever I can do I will do!"

STAR ACADEMY graduates Poon Ching Man, Lam Kwan Lin, Man Hoi Ting sid that they have listened to classic hits that Pau Pei Tat created. Man Hoi Ting said that since she has participated in music competitions, she would notice the song arrangement. Mr. Pau's song arrangement was very alluring. She really wanted Mr. Pau to write a fast song for her. While modern pop songs are heavy in electronic music, the golden age pop songs mostly were real instrument style. Now Mr. Pau has returned to Hong Kong music, she had a lot of ideas as the generation's new comers would be able to work with him; Lam Kwan Lin would like Mr. Pau to create a song with rhythm for her. She especially liked Jeffrey Chang's LOVE LIKE THE TIDE with a little R and B feel; Poon Man Ching would like Mr. Pau to write a little more retro Jazz music for her, because many popular old songs had that flavor. As soon as you heard it you would be able to relate to it and bring back memories.

Yesterday was the first anniversary of the first STAR ACADEMY. Three graduates still missed the finale night very much and felt that they have all grown up. Lam Kwan Lin joked, "Looking back at everyone, we have grown a little and lost a little baby fat!" However Poon Ching Man said that she would work on a music video for her new song soon. She wanted to appear a little thinner on camera and her goal was to drop 3 kg to 43 kg; Man Hoi Ting also had to work on a music video for a new song and even proclaimed that she had to work hard to lose weight. "Earlier when I went to Malaysia for a week. Because I ate too much, I gained 5 kg. Looking back at when I was competing last year, I really am much more bloated. My goal is to drop back down to the competition weight of 51 kg!"
