The 10 day long 28th Busan International Film Festival yesterday afternoon held its opening ceremony. Chow Yun Fat has always been an idol to many Koreans. He after Tony Leung Chiu Wai last year became another Hong Kong film stars to receive the Busan Film Festival Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award to honor his tremendous contribution to promoting Asian films and culture. Last night he and his wife Jasmine Tan appeared on the red carpet and received passionate cheers from everyone. He accepted the "Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award" at the opening ceremony and said in Cantonese, "Thank you everyone for attending. I started in the business in 1973, which just happened to be 50 years this year. Half a century truly is a long journey, but looking back it was just like yesterday. Thank you Hong Kong TVB for giving me the opportunity to start acting, thank you Hong Kong film for taking me to even further places, opening my eyes, thank you to my wife for taking care of me for so many years so I can relax and make movies, thank you Busan Film Festival for giving me such a meaningful award, thank you Korean friends for your support and love all along! Finally I wish everyone good health and smooth sailing!" He even took out a mobile phone to take a selfie with the entire venue and screamed in Korean, "Thank you, I love you!"
