Korean film COBWEB, TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU
YUT GEI) and IN BROAD DAYLIGHT (BAK YUT JI HA) became the 20th Hong
Kong Asian Film Festival opening films. The main cast from all three
films including Korean Best Actor Song Kang-ho, Hong Kong actors
Jennifer Yu Heung Ying, Rachel Leung Yung Ting, Wu Fung and others
two nights ago attended the opening ceremony. Chung Suet Ying and
Sabrina Ng Bing were the film festival ambassadors.
Song Kang-ho first greeted everyone in Cantonese. "How are
you everyone, I am Song Kang-ho". He said that before the opening
ceremony he has already met with the audience at the cinema, completely
sensed their passion and made him feel that Hong Kong was a movie
city. Speaking of Song Kang-ho and director Kim Jee-woon having
already worked together for five times, he said that he and the director
have known each other for 25 years. Each time they worked together
he would have many new ideas, the feeling was like going on a movie
journey. He humorously said, "Many directors like to work with me,
because I am not handsome enough I have a lot of potential. Viewers
also doesn't been distant with me, seeing me is like seeing a friend."
Finally he said in Cantonese, "Thank you very much" to thank the event
for inviting him to Hong Kong.
Yu Heung Ying and Leung Yung Ting with IN BROAD DAYLIGHT
were nominated respectively for this year's Golden Horse Award Best
Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Both said that they were excited
and looking forward to it. Yu Heung Ying admitted that before hand she
already thought that Leung Yung Ting would be nominated, instead she
was not as confident about herself. Thus when she found out that she
was the final nominee, she got so emotional she cried. Would they
dress up for the occasion? Leung Yung Ting said that she would leave
the arrangement for the company to make, and joked that she did not
know whether anyone would want to see her in something sexy. In
addition normally she had quite an appetite. She joked that she would
not be able to withstand the Taiwan cuisine and afraid that she would
eat too much for the clothes to fit. Yu Heung Ying said that the
decision would depend on her physical condition. Because she just gave
birth, for now she would choose clothing that accentuate her strong
suit. Would her husband walk the red carpet with her? Yu Heung Ying
said, "Because the children are still little, my husband and Mama would
stay in Hong Kong to take care of the baby. They would not tag along."
Has Yu Heung Ying's daughter inherited her performance gene? She
said, "My daughter is great. Each time friends would come to see her
little brother, she would perform in front of them once. If she would
be interested in being a child star and the work would not be too
tough, I would permit her to give it a try."
Fellow Golden Horse Best Actress nominee Chung Suet Ying was
happy to represent Hong Kong with Yu Heung Ying. She has already
begun choosing what she would wear, but said that she would not be
sexy because the weather would be rather chilly during the award show.
In TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI) child star Sean
Wong Tsz Lok played Ronald Cheng Chung Kei's son. Cheng Chung Kei
said that this time he played a violent father and he hated this
character very much inside. "I constantly had to hit my son in the
the film. Every tine the director yelled cut, I had to say sorry to
Tsz Lok." He revealed that he would not dare to show this movie to
his children, as he was afraid that it would damage his kind father
image. "I am afraid that my son after watching the movie would refuse
to get near me, my daughter also is very afraid of watching violence.
Once she saw me getting hit in a movie she was very afraid. The
children like to watch my comedy films and animated films." He
pointed out that his son inherited his acting genes, while his
daughter loved singing she became shy as she grew older. She might
not dare to become a singer. Wong Tsz Lok with the film was nominated
for the Golden Horse Award Best Supporting Actor. He said that he was
pleased with his performance. In the film almost every scene was
crying scene. He thanked the director and Mommy for comforting him
from the sidelines. Cheng Chung Kei praised that his acting was great
despite his acting. "He can cry on cue, in one scene I had to cane
him. On the first time the cane broke, on the second take he knew to
stick out his rear to get hit and coordinated the visual results even
better."
