[2022.10.14] LOUIS KOO RAISES FUND TO RELEASE THE "KEEP ROLLING KEEP RUNNING" PROJECT

Under the pandemic the film industry suffered serious impact, the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers president Louis Koo Tin Lok after taking the office last year personally raised fund to release the "Keep Rolling Keep Running" project. It would openly recruit screenplays for the Federation to invest in, encourage a new generation of filmmakers to actively create, explore the new direction of Hong Kong films together, and create work opportunities for colleagues at a difficult moment for the film industry.

The first season of the "Keep Rolling Keep Running" project received enthusiastic response. 4 experienced screenwriters and directors Felix Chong Man Keung, Jojo Hui Yuet Chun, Chik Ka Kei and Susan Chan Suk Yin formed an independent screenplay jury. After their evaluation, Koo Tin Lok and Chong Mn Keung personally led director Sunny Chan Wing Sun and experienced film producer to audition each screenplay creators. In the end they chose two creative and executive excellent screenplays to be the first seasons' winners. They were THE REMNANT (NGOK YUN DON DOH) and THE SIN OF UNFORGIVENESS (BUT SEH JI JUI).

THE REMNANT would depict the story of a retired mob boss, who returned to the underworld for neighbors who were forced out of their homes for redevelopment. THE SIN OF UNFORGIVENESS would be about a preacher who faced a young rape inmate while at the same time hid the fact that he was the victim's father.

Koo Tin Lok said that the genres of screenplays that were received included family, inspirational, suspense, action, horror, and examination of relationships between the genders. He was happy to see very young teams in the creative teams, see them full of confidence and ideas, still full of passion and dreams for Hong Kong films. As for the two films that would receive investments, one would be detailed and down-to-earth, the other would daringly explore human nature. THE REMNANT has already begun production. THE REMNANT's director and screenwriter Mandrew Kwan Man Hin thanked the Federation for choosing the project. The film would be his first film and he would do his best to make the film well. He looked forward to working with elders in various posts, as well as sharing the production results with the audience. THE SIN OF UNFORGIVENESS director Jeffrey Lam Sin said that when he received the interview notice, he had no idea who was on the jury at all. When he saw Koo Tin Lok and other famous directors and producers, he immediately felt flattered. The feeling was wonderful and he benefit a lot. He thanked the jury for supporting the opportunity for non mainstream subjects to be made into films.

In addition, the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers announced that after the Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Foundation, WUCulture also joined the Keep Rolling Keep Running project so future seasons of the project would be able to successfully begin.
