Ekin Cheng reveals that Feanna Wong keeps asking him odd questions. Despite playing the chubby girl in the film, she would keep asking him if she gets thinner. |
The youth inspirational film LIFE MUST GO ON (SUM SIU SIM BEI KAU) will soon open, lead actor Dior Cheng Yi Kin led nine actresses Catherine Chau Ka Yi, Isabella Chan Hoi Ning, Viann Li Yu Tsun, Sany Song Ka Yi, Gladys Li Ching Kwan, Feanna Wong Suk Man, Chung Sue Ying, Cloud Wan Ho Ying and Ocean Wong Yee promoted without a care in the world. Used to making masculine subject films, Ekin this time was in a crowd of girls. He said that he had a lot of fun even often "treated" everyone to food. This Hong Kong film mainly was a comedy, the script of which would rarely be like this and also carry some meaning.
Ekin in LIFE played a dodge ball team coach. Before the shoot he too had to train for two days, played a dodge ball match with official rules but ended up losing. However the group of young actresses had a much tougher time than him, they had to be in training for a month before their performance. With a big group of girls during the shoot, Ekin joked that he was not used to it. "It was actually two extremes, at first before we became familiar, they were quiet and very shy. They didn't have much expression. However after becoming familiar, I was worried that my ear drums would burst, haha!"
To bring life to dodge ball athletes, the group of actresses put quite an effort into their performance. They all got hurt. Because they had frequent "face plant" and wire scenes, they were almost "disfigured" from the shoot. Ekin jokingly said that it was just like an action film. Feanne Wong Suk Man revealed that each person had some minor injuries, either pulling something or bruising something. Even their hearts were hurt, because sometimes when they asked Ekin something they would not get a response. "I asked him, if I was thinner. He never answered me." Ekin explained, "Questions like those lead to death no matter how they are answer, the others' questions were also very tricky." However Ekin still won over this group of young girls as he got uniform praise from them. The reason was the Ekin on the set often "treated", ordering a table full of food. They even happily went to have hot pot together. As for the girls, on their breaks hey would sing Ekin's hit FRIENDSHIP AGE to him and made him very happy. "I really appreciate them. We are several generations apart, but they knew how to sing my song. The feeling was a lot of fun!"
Lead actor Chau Ka Yi this time played a social worker. Being able to work with a group of young people filled her full of energy and she became much younger. She said that in the film she had no relationship scene and focused on sports. She only had a minor relationship with Ekin, the feeling of which would be even better. Ekin praised the script as meaningful and bringing out a positive message. "Hong Kong film really needs a script like this, hopefully more people would be able to see Hong Kong's creativity." When asked which other sport would he want to make a movie about? He said that he wanted to make one about water sports like wing foil. Perhaps some sports would be more outstanding with young athletes, but exercising was an interest. Anyone could try it at any age, could break through just the same.
As the Chinese title implied, the movie was about "dodge ball", has Ekin dodged anything in his life? He said, "I believe many present would have dodged before, everyone must have a moment of escape, under some environment they had to dodge for awhile. I have dodged a lot, I used to constantly dodge the paparazzi, haha!"
