"Huangmeidiao Song Queen" Tsin Ting yesterday passed away in Taiwan at age 88. Yesterday a Singapore media leaked the news. Tsin Ting's only daughter Ivy confirmed it and revealed that Mama passed away in her sleep around 2 AM yesterday morning. She has already rushed to the hospital to handle Mama's affairs. Due to the pandemic she would not consider holding a memorial in Hong Kong.

According to the Singapore media report, Tsin Ting and her only daughter Ivy years ago already moved to Taipei and lived her life in retirement. Occasionally she would have dinner with friends and have tea and chat. Ivy revealed that Mama passed away due to old age. Yesterday morning around 2 AM she passed away in her sleep. Mama's funeral would take place in Taipei and was currently being arranged. Due to the pandemic, she would not consider holding a memorial in Hong Kong.

Tsin Ting was originally named Kwok Tai Mui. Born in 1934 in Sichuan, in 1949 she came with her family to Hong Kong. Due to her family being poor, at age 17 she began singing at night clubs. Tsin Ting was the hottest behind the scene singer at the peak of Huangmeidiao movies. Linda Lin Dai, Betty Loh Ti, Lucilla You Man, Li Li-hua, and others all performed with her singing, but Tsin Ting once revealed that she stumbled her way into singing Huangmeidiao, "because I didn't know how to perform any regional opera." Yet her songs in the 1959 film THE KINGDOM AND THE BEAUTY built her foundation as the "Huangmeidiao Song Queen". In 1963 with the Li Han-Hsiang directed THE LOVE ETERNE her singing for Loh Ti caused an even greater stir. She would be the best known conceivably for the 1960 song IN MY HEART THERE IS NO HIM. This classic song has been covered by Teresa Teng, Tiger Huang, Fong Fei-fei, Liu Wen-Cheng and others.

In 1972, Tsin Ting retired from music and went to the U.S. to care for her daughter. Occasionally she would return to perform. Ivy said that Tsin Ting was a happy mother and liked to accept a variety of challenge. At age 60 she went for her driving test, skiing and skydiving behind her back. Normally she enjoyed watching soccer matches and NBA games. Ivy's favorite song of mother's was RED AND BLUE. She said, "Thank you fans for your support and love for Mother all along, I hope that everyone would always remember Tsin Ting's singing."

Tsin Ting in Hong Kong has many fans. In 2009 she performed concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum. 75 at the time her voice was as powerful as ever. She was able to perform over 3 hours. Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Lui Fong, Eric Suen Yiu Wai, Donald Cheung Wai Man and others were her guest performers. In recent years Tsin Ting was rumored to have dementia and the condition has been rather severe. In February this year, when friend Cheung Wai Man was hospitalized for the novel coronavirus, Tsin Ting called manager Fong Chun to wish Cheung Wai Man well. Fong Chun recalled, at the time Tsin Ting due to dementia was rather slow with her responses. Tsin Ting's final public appearance was in Taiwan, In 2017 she performed at the Chou Lan-Ping classic hits concert.
