The Shaw Brothers film company yesterday held a press conference to announce eight upcoming productions this year. Aside from Mona Fong Yat Wa and TVB executives Chan Kwok Keung, Lee Bo On and Elaine Lok Yi Ling, 50 filmmakers and artists showed their support. They included Michael Hui Koon Man, Wong Jing, Andrew Lau Wai Keung, Alan Tam Wing Lun, Anthony Chan Yau, Peng Kin Sun, Nat Chan Pak Cheung, Juno Mak Chun Lung and Raymond Wong Pak Ming.

TVB CEO Lee Bo On said that Shaw last year invested in box office hits like FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 2 (DOH SING FUNG WON II) and TRIUMPH IN THE SKIES (CHUNG SEUNG WON SIU), thus this year it will focus heavily on film. This year eight films have already been confirmed for production, including FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 3 (DOH SING FUNG WON III), a LINE WALKER (SI TOH HUNG JEH) film, the Stanley Kwan Kam Peng directed SUM GONG BO BUI, the Wynners workshop's FEI SEUNG HING DAI BAN, the Wong Cho Lam produced, written and directed HAU FA GUM CHO MA LUK LO, the Mak Chun Lung directed SONS OF THE NEON NIGHTS (FUNG LAM FOR SAN) and the Lawrence Cheng Shui Tan directed GOO WAT JAI JAI and OI DOH TIN GEUK DAI. As for the total investment amount, Lee Bo On said that they had no restriction. Because of the size of TVB, 8 to 10 films a year only took up a small part of the company's resources. The most important was to have good subjects, personnel and scripts.

The Wynners revealed that FEI SEUNG HING DAI BAN will be an inspirational comedy that would be based the Wynners' youth. They hoped to bring the audience positive energy. Aside from themselves, later they will recruit actors to play their young versions.

Wong Jing and Lau Wai Keung said that FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 3 will be an enhanced version, but no cast has been revealed. Leung Ka Shun said that the LINE WALKER film will have TVB and film actors. Ah Tan said that OI DOH TIN GEUK DAI will be a continuation and a young version of THE YUPPIE FANTASIA (SIU NAM YUN JAU GEI).

Meanwhile for Wesley Wong Hoi Kit's first film AH BOY TO MEN 3: FROGMEN, he felt that a soldier film was very tough to make. Because he was from Hong Kong, he did not have to accept military training like people in Singapore. However this experience was hard to come by and well worth the hard work.
