Founded in 1960 and stood for half a century in Mongkok, China Cafe will close in a few days. China Cafe was the location for many domestic film productions. Director Johnnie To Kei Fung's 2003 film PTU was also shot on location at the cafe. In the film Lam Suet played Fat Sha, a cop who lost his gun, and made many scenes with PTUs Simon Yam Tat Wa and Maggie Shiu Mei Kei at the cafe.

Lam Suet had a connection with this cafe. Two days ago after work he went to China Cafe for a meal. A neighbor jokingly asked him, "Fat Sha, did you find your gun yet?" He answered, "Not yet, I am still looking!" Being at the cafe brought back memories of making PTU for him. Lam Suet said, "At the time we shot for a whole month, usually we started at 9PM at night. We waited until the cafe closed before starting the shoot. Ah To really likes places with Hong Kong features. I made several movies that were shot here. The wall tiles preserved the flavors of the past, which can't be found now."
