AVATAR after 33 days in release in Hong Kong made HK$115,475,916 (not including late shows) and defeated the 1997 TITANIC highest gross Hong Kong box office record. As of two days ago, AVATAR officially sank TITANIC's HK$14,939,300 over 195 days in release (December 18 1997 to June 30 1998) record to become the highest grossing film in Hong Kong history.

At the same time AVATAR has broken Hong Kong and international film records, including the first film to be on top for 33 days in a row, the fastest film to break HK$50 million in Hong Kong film history, the highest December gross in history, and the most 3D screens in Hong Kong. 20th Century Fox announced that AVATAR will run through the Lunar New Year. The rest of the top ten highest grossing films are JURASSIC PARK, KUNG FU HUSTLE, SHAOLIN SOCCER, THE DARK KNIGHT, THE LOST WORLD, FIRST STRIKE (GAING CHAT GOO SI 4 ji GAN DAN YUM MO), RUMBLE IN THE BRONX (HUNG FAN KUI) and INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH).
