New film THAT DEMON WITHIN (MOR GAING) last night held a premiere. Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho)'s families did not attend. Ng Yin Cho said that his wife Lisa S. was not in Hong Kong and he would not take his daughter to watch this film. "It's too violent, she would have to wait until she is 18 to watch." Cheung Ka Fai revealed that her daughter once said that she would wait until she turns 22 to watch his film. "I try to get my daughter to watch UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN), at least it has no sex or transgender."
Cheung Ka Fai and Ng Yin Cho talked about working together in the future. Ng Yin Cho suggested an action comedy like Stephen Chow Sing Chi's CURRY AND PEPPER (GA LEI LAT JIU). Ka Fai immediately said that now finding screen writers to write stories is very hard due to their low salary. Ng Yin Cho also admitted that Hong Kong screen writers are paid less than their U.S. counterparts. Ka Fai joked, "In comparison my salary is very low, which is very tragic and very sad. Foreign films have bonuses, with big films after salary it was normal to receive bonuses for good box office. If I had to make the movie with reduced salary then you couldn't calculate it like that."
Later Ka Fai said that the subject was too heavy and joked that he wanted to talk about women. Would he consider adding "Pretty Demon Women" to adjust? When Cheung Ka Fai heard the "Pretty Demon Woman" choice was Candy Law Lam, he was surprised. He said, "When choosing Pretty Demon Woman of course it's my wife (Esther) Kwan Wing Ho! Otherwise I would have my 'shop closed'." Cheung Ka Fai's films have been heavy with masculinity. The Hong Kong film industry seemed to be mainly male driven films. He admitted that it felt like it has put an end to Hong Kong actresses. The industry was not blooming with variety like it was and actors had generation gaps. Producer Ng Yin Cho said that during casting, co-productions would choose Mainland actresses and give Hong Kong actresses less opportunities.
Emperor Group chief Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Sing attended with Cheung Ka Fai, Ng Yin Cho, Andy Tien (On Chi Kit), Liu Kai Chi, Dominic Lam Ka Wa, Christie Chen (Si Xuan), Deep Ng Ho Hong and director Dante Lam Chiu Yin. Other artists like Sherman Chung Shu Man and Michelle Wai Si Nga came to show their support. Yeung Sau Sing and the cast performed a gold dust ceremony to wish for box office success.
Michelle Wai Si Nga revealed that she will walk the Hong Kong Film Award red carpet with Deep Ng Ho Hong. She was very happy to participate for the first time. "Each time when I watched at home I was very happy and very nervous. I was afraid that I would scream inside the venue." When asked if she would wear anything sexy, she joked that no matter how sexy she dressed she still would look like a child.
