[2014.04.10] BENNY CHAN HAS NOT STUDIED HIS STRONG COMPETITION

Action director Benny Chan Muk Sing with the film THE WHITE STORM (SO DUK) was nominated for Best Director. Not for his nomination, Director Chan did not feel the good reviews during the film release would help. He admitted that action film often had less chance to win an award than art film, thus art film conversely would win awards easier. Even so, he still had confidence in the film, "50/50!"

With strong competition from Wong Kar Wai, Johnnie To Kei Fung, Dante Lam Chiu Yin and others, Director Chan said that he did not study his competition. Instead he was excited about his two lead actors Louis Koo Tin Lok and Sean Lau Ching Wan's Best Actor nominations. He said, "They have a chance, but it's hard for me to choose one. Actually all three lead actors are nominated, only (Nick) Cheung Ka Fai represented another film. He asked me why he wasn't nominated, feeling like he was left out."
