Dante Lam Chiu Yin with UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Award Best Director for the fourth time. He said normally, "In terms of generation it's not my turn yet. Like with Benny (Chan Muk Sing), I have been his PA (production assistant)!" He even said that early in the UNBEATABLE shoot, lead actor Nick Cheung Ka Fai broke his fingers but very quickly returned to work. He admitted that he was appreciative. Otherwise the film might have stalled. He also picked him to win Best Actor again.
Director Lam stated that the UNBEATABLE was rather relaxing. As for the "best of the year" 44 million at the box office, he was pleasantly surprised. Lately he is preparing to make his new film about bicycle racing, TO THE FORE (POR FUNG). He pointed out, "Because of this film I have had more contact with former Hong Kong team representative Hung Chung Yam. He brought the video for me to sign autographs and saw it 13 times. He could almost recite every line and even cried. With such a supporter, how can I not be touched!"
