Gong Li promoted the Chinese adaptation of WHAT WOMEN WANT in the U.S. She said that in the film she played a career woman. In recent years she rarely played modern woman roles, as she believed this time she was able to show her skills more.

Gong Li also revealed that she had two Chinese films and two Hollywood film scripts on hand. She would make one each. When asked whether she would make Zhang Yimou's Nanjing Massacre film, she said that the title of THIRTEEN NOBLE WOMEN OF NANJING and joked that she was the 14th. As for directing or producing a film, she said that she would focus on acting. Gong Li has been in Hollywood for quite some time. Has her English improved? She said that for now she could understand but she still could not handle in depth questions at interviews. During her U.S. magazine interviews she had a translator on hand.
