Artist Carrie Ng Ka Lai in the new film worked with first time director Nick Cheung Ka Fai. She said that after reading the script she was deeply drawn to it but at the same time she discovered that she had no scene with Cheung Ka Fai, which she regretted.
Ng Ka Lai in the new film HUNGRY GHOST RITUALS (YU LAN SUN GUNG) played a famous Chinese opera diva, a vital character that served a very important purpose in the film. She said, "Before the shoot I spent a lot of time to learn. During the shoot I had to constantly put on and remove make up. With the Malaysia location, the set was rather humid. It was pretty tough." Reportedly one of the location was formerly a funeral home. She said, "We were only informed after the shoot was done. I don't know if it was good or bad. No matter what, after so many years in film I would present incense before the shoot. I didn't run into anything strange."
