Tang Wei rose to fame but was also banned because of LUST, CAUTION. Since 2008 she has vanished from Mainland big and small screens alike, as her performance career faced challenges. Two years ago, her new film CROSSING HENNESSY earlier was successfully approved for Mainland release and hinted that Tang Wei's two year long Mainland "ban" has finally ended!

The film's investor Enko Film stated, "That is correct, CROSSING has already been approved for release in the Mainland, but no date has been set. In Hong Kong it will open on April 1, which the Hong Kong premiere at the end of March. Right now we are negotiating schedules with the actors. (Does the Mainland release hint that Tang Wei's ban has been lifted?) Tang Wei has never been banned."
