After 3 years away from the Hong Kong film industry, Tony Leung Chiu Wai actually has already returned with Simon Yam Tat Wa on Emperor Motion Pictures' over HK$ 200 million big production. The film would be based on a infamous Hong Kong case in the 70s. The case has been adapted for the screen many times.
Due to the pandemic the Hong Kong film industry has come to a halt for quite some time. Since this production would have both star power and drama, it is no wonder that the film company saw it as a "secret weapon" and prohibited the cast and the crew from any leak. This new film that would feature a battle of wits would be another collaboration between Wai Jai and Yam Tat Wa since BULLET IN THE HEAD in 1990. However because they did not have many scenes together in that film, they would more than make up for it this time around. Their most classic collaboration had to be the 1985 TVB series POLICE CADETS 2. The Yam Tat Wa played police officer "Han Bun" was beyond evil and battled "Kit Lo" Wai Jai from the beginning to the end. After 36 years it remained a classic to people. No wonder many looked forward to their "reunion" to set off new sparks.
