Nick Cheung Ka Fai, director Johnnie To Kei Fung two nights ago were guests at the Fresh Wave 2013 International short film festival. The Venice Film Festival Gold Lion award winning Korean film PIETA was the opening film. PIETA's director Kim Ki-Duk also attended and discussed this super low budget production that took ten days to make. To Kei Fung immediately expressed his awe. "The fastest I took to make a film was 19 days." Cheung Ka Fai remembered that when he made a Wong Jing directed film, it took 9 days to complete production.

Cheung Ka Fai said that he was very supportive of the film industry's cultivation of new blood, thus he will work with a new director on a family film. He will take a pay cut. He said, "It's major hemorrhage, big price slash. Making movie in Hong Kong now is very hard, Hong Kong actresses have as much chance as if they are dead. New comers have even less chance, unlike the 80s and the 90s when you can work with a new comer. Now the production rate is small. In order to have box office guarantee, no one dare to work with new comers!"

Anthony Wong Chau Sun joked about his envy of how cool Cheung Ka Fai was. He has never watched his movies but was interested in watching his new film THE WHITE STORM (SO DUK). Ka Fai traded pleasantries with Chau Sun. "I don't dare, Brother Chau Sun looks foreign. Hong Kong people worship the West, how can I compete with him? Thank you Brother Chau Sun for being willing to see my movie."
