Mainland art critic Jia Xuanning slammed Hong Kong film VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET) as garbage entertainment and Mainlander discrimination, which triggered Chapman To man Jat to suggest a return engagement to donate all the proceeds to the mental health foundation. Last night he and director Pang Ho Cheung attended the charity screening, the event was sold out. When they appeared the audience gave them an overwhelming welcome. When Ah Jat said that all the proceeds will be donated to the mental health foundation, the audience laughed. He continued to say that he believed everyone knew the importance of mental health and appreciated the freedom of speech.
VULGARIA would return several Saturday and Sunday this month. Ah Jat, Pang Ho Cheung and the film company will be responsible for the expenses. Ah Jat said that Hong Kong has a film rating system, only those at a legal age would be admitted and viewers had the ability to analyze for themselves. Pang Ho Cheung had no more comment for Jia Xuanning's comment.
