[2018.12.25] SONIJA KWOK GIVE UP HER LOOKS FOR HER CHARACTER

Commemorating the 15th anniversary of the "Daughter of Hong Kong" Anita Mui Yim Fong's passing, the film DEAREST ANITA...earlier received the Best Director award at the 14th Chinese American Film Festival. Two days ago advanced screenings were held and Karl Maka attended. Lead actress Sonija Kwok Sin Nei, directors Clifton Ko Chi Sum and Leung Pak Ho personally appeared at the cinema for audience appreciation.

Sonija attended her first audience appreciation event and was very anxious about the audience reaction. When she saw the audience was teary eyed after watching the film and knew that the movie touched everyone, she felt very pleased. Maka even praised her performance, which made very happy. The film was based on a real story, Sonija said that she had to experience the entire story with her heart. She said, "In the film all my crying scenes were real, I didn't mind looking ugly from crying." She revealed that in one scene she had to tell "Sister Mui" about a fan's sudden passing. She got emotional and an extra was playing Sister Mui. She said, "At first I was a little worried, afraid that I would have difficulty getting into character. Luckily that actor was very professional. I treated her like Sister Mui. In the end I sincerely cried." She said that the film consisted of many stories, the most touching for her was how Sister Mui got along with her childhood friends. Because her change in status they stopped communicating. She said that when she first got into the business she had similar experience. She said, "Some friends suddenly became afraid of me, feeling that going out with me they might be photographed. I didn't mind too much. Like Sister Mui said in the film, let's see when we would have a chance to see each other again."
