Director Peter Chan Ho Sun earlier attended the Venice Film Festival with his father and participated in his classic film COMRADES ALMOST A LOVE STORY (TIM MUK MUK)'s restored version premiere. After the screening the film received a 3 minute applause from the audience. He smiled in return to the audience and appeared to be rather satisfied. Later he spoke with the Mainland media. Aside from revealing the troubles from buying back the COMRADES ALMOST A LOVE STORY rights but also revealed that his recent film AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA became his career saving charm.

COMRADES ALMOST A LOVE STORY's film rights did not belong to Chan Ho Sun but to Golden Harvest, then it fell into Warner's hands. 3 or 4 months ago Chan Ho Sun received Venice's screening notice and negotiated with Warner, he never expected to take over a month before they agreed to lend the film for restoration use.

On the other hand, he also mentioned that his previous films BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING), THE WARLORDS (TAU MING JONG) and WU XIA almost all failed at the box office and almost ended his director life. Luckily his new film AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA made over 500 million RMB in the Mainland and pulled him back from the edge.
